Six Flags New England is my home park, and I have been probably over 100 times in my 24 years of life. While I am a high thrill seeker, I can’t tell you how excited I got when this was unveiled. The north east is so dry with unique coasters, and to have something that checks so many empty boxes, is amazing. It’s exciting to see how much the park is going to change with this ride. Thanks for a great video! (and hopefully shorter lines on pandemonium lol)
I know it’s not the big launch coaster a lot of enthusiasts were hoping for, but I think this is a good fit for this park. I like to bring my friends with me and they are not big thrill seekers so I usually end up splitting off to ride Superman and Wicked Cyclone by myself, so this adds a ride that we can all enjoy together 😌
Agreed, and also given the economics of SFNE it makes sense. It's a captive market, they don't need to invest the same amount year-on-year as they do with some other parks in the chain because SNFE isn't losing its status as coaster capital of New England anytime soon. Therefore I'm just happy it's getting something and I think this coaster actually looks really solid for what it is.
This is my situation too--my family are not coaster fans at all, but they like a not-too-threatening family ride, and I'm always looking for rides that I can share with them. Their benchmark is Disney World's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: that's the absolute most they can handle, and if something looks more hardcore than BTMR, they're not getting on it. (BTMR is actually a bit intense for a family mine train, and the shared lap bars mean that smaller kids get scary air on it in a few spots, so that's not as mild a threshold as you might think. But nothing with a drop that looks big will pass muster.) In this case, what I'm wondering is whether that hill over the station that looks ~50 feet high would intimidate them. If they can deal with that, they might like it.
Looks like it could be a more intense Arctic Rescue or a less intense Juvelen. You get the point. Arctic Rescue does have a few moments that look like they would be more intense than it actually is so I guess we’ll see how this turns out. This looks incredibly fun though! Great content keep it up!
@@anthonyb.9336 have you done a pretzel loop or a Batman clone? B&Ms definitely don’t lack intensity and are definitely not boring. B&M also have their hypers and gigas which are insanely fun rides
So glad us New Englanders are finally getting a new ride! I was initially skeptical on first seeing the ride preview but this video gives me some hope!
I’d love to design one of these that goes through trenching, they need to dig down and create a trench for near misses during the wippy transitions imo ❤️
Hopefully the red/yellow color scheme means Flashback won't be around much longer. Seems that SFNE cobsidered removing it for a bigger addition, but it's good they're going with a family thrill coaster next to Wicked Cyclone. Intamin straddle coasters are kind of a modern take on a mine train, which SFNE doesn't have. Plus, it'll be great for locals who can't make it to Epic Universe next year. This should compare well with Hiccup's Wing Gliders.
That's a pretty based but agreeable take that they're like the new mine trains in the market, however mine trains are designed with a slightly different philosophies I think 😛
This makes me think that Magic Mountain is getting a similar coaster. The construction site sign says "Epic thrills are CYCLING in." Maybe it was a package deal.
As a SFNE home parker, this is extremely exciting seeing as this will probably be the best straddle coaster in the area over DarKoaster! I totally agree with your point about the colors, I wish they'd repaint Flashback at least (or better yet, get rid of it 😂)! Also, I think Zokkon in Fuji Q Highland has a bigger drop somewhere in its layout as a larger scale coaster, I'll double check that 😅
SFNE is one of my home parks and I have been waiting for a new coaster to come here. The closest stable coaster I believe is at Luna Park so it is definitely something new to the region. I’m excited for this new addition and hopefully will be the first of many be original coasters coming to the park
These motorbike coasters with all the twists and turns and airtime hills are some of the most fun roller coasters out there. Not the most intense, but extremely fun. I hope it at least is more intense than Wave Breaker and is more on the lines of Juvelen or Velocity.
You know what Six Flags New England actually needs, to draw in the kinds of crowds they now want to attract? A major dark ride. I'm thinking a shooting dark ride like a modernized Justice League: Battle for Metropolis--maybe not exactly that, but superhero theming is fine for this kind of thing, or they could do something more creative. They don't have one, and several of the smaller parks in New England actually do have dark rides that are significant draws.
Goliath actually opened with the original trains at SFNE and was AMAZING! The next season I took some friends on after the train change and it was AWFUL! I would have liked to see them take Flashback out and bring in a higher-thrill launch coaster, but I'm ok with this announcement.
I never rode Goliath but I'd thought they ran it with the original trains for a while--thanks for confirming that! Premier is capable of making good rides, and I always wondered how their trains for this ended up so bad.
Despite it being several years without a new coaster Six Flags New England has many and a lot of rides. The park has transformed quite a lot and has been amazing for decades.
I'll never understand the hatred people had for Goliath. It was my favorite coaster in the park. I'm still excited for Quantum Accelerator, I just wish everyone wouldn't use this as another chance to insult the tastes of those who loved what came before.
This and wicked cyclone would be a great one two Punch for enthusiasts. The other good thing is All in this one area you have the kiddie coaster, then the family spinning coaster pandemonium, now this.
So sad that Goliath was so nasty, was a beautiful ride but I’ve done it and it was PAINFUL- I think the new roller coaster is a good fit tbh even though it’s not so extreme because of its uniqueness
Hey maybe if they're working with Intamin again Superman can get the Skyrush treatment and get some of those new trains with the not-awful lap bars. I'd love for that ride not to be known as a great ride ruined by bad lap bars and just be known as a great ride.
With the names of coasters coming to six flags parks for 2025, its clear that cedar fair's influence is being taken seriously. Im so glad these new coasters arent IP based. Very refreshing move.
I’m shocked cause it’s an Intamin and I thought most parks here stopped working with them and the other shocker is it’s a Six Flags. Isn’t Six Flags part of Cedar Fair now? So does this mean Intamin is slowely comming back to Cedar Fair?
I would like Six Flags New England to completely retheme the whole Crackaxle Canyon into Steamtown. They should take out some of the old, outdated rides like Tomahawk with some new ones, but keep a few like Houdini and retheme them.
At least we didn’t get a Vekoma Super boomerang clone… which could’ve been next door to the old Vekoma boomerang… which sits in the plot of land another Vekoma boomerang used to take up…
Those Super Boomerangs look like great rides, though! I would have been fine with it, personally--that was the option I was pushing for. They would have had to rip out Flashback to make enough room, but it was just the right size to fit in the combined Flashback/Goliath plot. Well, the way they did it, I guess they can replace Flashback with something else, even if it's a flat. A lot of people were predicting it would be a smaller B&M dive like Dr. Diabolical or Iron Menace; the combined Flashback/Goliath plot would have been great for that, too.
Can someone explain why they didn’t just put the old trains back on Goliath? Did they throw them in the trash when the new ones came in? This new ride is a nice addition but a step down from a GIB, in my opinion.
The old Goliath trains made for a tolerable experience but Six Flags destroyed the ride when they put in the Premier trains. It banged my hand like no other ride ever did and my wife and sister who went with me were completely done with roller coasters for the day. Heck, even I needed a little break before going on another thrill ride.
Pretty sure the reason was that the original trains were “too confusing” for riders getting on. Also in like 2016 one of the towers’ lift cable snapped and that was pretty much the beginning of the end. Don’t think the park wanted to invest in the ride anymore
So, did Pandemonium not exist? That was the last new ground up coaster that debuted in 2005. Black Widow was the last "launch" coaster the park had until it was removed in 1999.
Hey goliath was good in 2012 (it got premier trains in 2013) and pandemonium was ground up when it was built they originally had it going around the old time warp flat ride then six flags decide to clone it
The only thing I can think of about the colors being the same as flashback is maybe it’s a joke because everyone used to joke about how sfne had 2 boomerangs next to each other, so maybe in honor of that they are making quantum accelerator the same colors as flashback.
