I will say, MACK Rides just went all out in this ride ~~ out of all the coasters that opened in 2024, this is the one I’d choose as the best one for the year. The overall experience just looks amazing. Europa Park really just outdid themselves.
Bring this to Kings Island in 2026!
u are absolutly right, this thing ist NUTS!! I live nearby, so i know their rides in and out
Is Voltron scary? Im thinking about going there but I am nervous
@@RyanScottMueller What sort of coasters have you ridden before? This is clearly one of the longest and intense, so..... What's the most crazy coaster you have ridden and enjoyed?
@@teddym2808 Thank you so much for replying to me! Well haha the only rollercoasters I have ridden are Hagrids at Islands of Adventure and then Blue Fire, Silver Star and Wodan at Europa-park. 😂 I really wanted to ride Velocicoaster but I was too scared to go on it. 😔 I used to be scared of the rides at Europapark aswell but I managed to do them. Blue Fire for me is the easiest, then Silver Star and Wodan is the hardest for me. I found Hagrids to be extremely fast! For me sometimes during the day I get a lot of adrenaline and then I feel like riding rollercoasters and stop being afraid of them. But then there are other times where I feel "lazy" or "relaxed" like all I want to do is stay at home in life. For me rollercoasters are the best inventions of all time however it's the speed, height and butterfly feeling in your stomach that scares me. 😔 Thank you for your help! 😄
The ideal rip ride rockit replacement
I'm guessing with Back to the Future theme?
@@drewhull7313 that would be sick, or they could do fast and furious to fix their dark ride mistake😂
That or the same system as the one in Hollywood
It would've been an ideal volcano replacement
Great review. In case anyone is interested - here is an explanation of how the "singing" lightning devices in the queue work. They're actually called Tesla Coils because Tesla invented them (though he wouldn't have been able to make them play music like that in his time - that came later).
When any Tesla coil is "on" it's actually switching its current on and off really fast rather than being continuously on as it may appear. Every time the coil discharges, the huge voltage (we're talking 100s of thousands of volts at least) literally rips the electrons off of the air molecules around it creating a plasma (i.e. the spark/lightning). This also releases a LOT of heat into the air around it. This causes the air to rapidly expand as it heats up creating a pressure wave which we hear as sound (this is also exactly how thunder occurs just on a different scale.)
But how does it play actual notes in sequence? Well, a note is just a sound wave that vibrates at a certain frequency. All Tesla coils produce a note when they discharge because all Tesla coils switch on and off at a certain frequency (the frequency/note that the coil defaults to depends on the design of the circuit). So, if you use a computer aided control system* to turn the coil on and off at certain frequencies and at certain times then you can make it play whatever notes, in whatever order and at whatever time you like. Hence they can play any music you want just by using lightning!
*For those who want more detail on the control - it's usually achieved with a solid state "bridge" and that mediates the circuit being turned off and on. This bridge takes an input from a microcontroller which uses a MIDI file as an input so it knows what frequencies to use. This acts as the signal/tone generator and so the coil can be programmed to play literally anything a MIDI file can.
You can also use these Tesla Coils as glorified speakers/amplifiers and plug the device into an MP3 player/phone/computer and play the music directly through them and it'll sound just like the original music (albeit probably a little bit distorted)
Fantastic @lithix4915! I knew about the coils but not all the technical details. Thanks a lot for your explanation, awesome contribution!
@@Greddward You're welcome :)
The explanation I gave is simplified but it's already a bit too long for a youtube comment.
As an interesting aside, Taylor mentions those devices being potentially dangerous and whilst it's certainly not something you'd want to be shocked by, the part that shoots the lightning surprisingly isn't actually the most dangerous part of the coil!
There are in fact two electric circuits in a tesla coil. One to control the the frequency/note of the current known as the "tank" or "primary" circuit. The lightning shooting part is known as the "secondary" circuit and its job is to increase the voltage from the mains power (because this isn't residential power, I can't say for sure how high the voltage is but let's say ~230V) to an extremely high voltage. Anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of volts - judging by the spark length my guess is probably on the higher end. This is because higher voltage = bigger spark & louder sound. However, by stepping up the voltage they also lower the current (oversimplified reason for this is because of conservation of energy).
For electricity to be really dangerous, however, you need both a significant current AND voltage. The current from the secondary circuit is still high enough to be dangerous but even though the voltage is lower, the primary circuit is FAR more dangerous because the voltage is still high enough but the current is also way higher. Therefore a shock from the primary circuit could easily kill you whereas the giant sparks would probably just burn you badly (unless you got unlucky). Luckily, the primary/tank circuit will be stored somewhere in the ceiling judging by how they're laid out in the video so it's nowhere near the public.
@@lithix4915 bro thanks i wanted to understand how its done. I want to see it done in the U.S tho like you pick a song and it does that. Or maybe is it just one specific sound per coil?
@BluestormShre It's definitely possible to have them play music "on-demand" as long as you could provide either a device that can output audio whilst playing the song (phone, computer, mp3 player) or a MIDI file.
Doing it the MIDI route would be more work as you'd have to either find a pre-made MIDI for a given song or make it yourself but it's not impossible to have a "jukebox" style list.
You can also directly hook up electronic instruments like keyboards/electric guitars and play the tesla coil that way (please note any device you plug into a tesla coil is potentially at risk!)
When it comes to capabilities, these coils can play simple chords (max 2-3 notes at a time), but you'd most likely need multiple coils to recreate complex songs. The other issue is that these coils are very temperamental and can sometimes burn through components and break if they play really long notes or for extended periods without being allowed to cool down (the primary circuit in particular will have a lot of current flowing through it so it produces a lot of heat that can destroy the capacitor bank or solid state bridge).
I suspect it's for all of these reasons that Europa Park has 4 coils, which is the most coils I've seen in one place like this (usually it's one or two - these things are damn expensive to build at this scale).
Finally, if you're interested in coils, you can buy "build your own mini tesla coil" kits (though they require some basic soldering and electronics knowledge, so you may need help putting it together).
The one I own actually has a jack audio input I can plug a device into, and I have actually played music through it as if it were a speaker, it's really cool.
You just made me want to ride this even more than I already did!!
Put it on that to do list!!
@ absolutely! Def at the top!
Voltron seems like what happens when a manufacturer pulls out all the stops.
I feel like it’s the perfect example alongside rides like Velocicoaster, Toutatis, and F.L.Y. of how nuts modern coaster technology can be, while still maintaining unbelievable narrative/theming quality.
This is gonna be one hell of an easter egg...... 4:31 if you look at the rider in the very front that is watching the people waiting in line and waving, that is Matej Rimac, the founder and ceo of Bugatti Rimac. Just thought I'd point that out bc I'm a huge car nerd
And the Nevera part comes after the Rimac Nevera electric hypercar, whose propulsion technology is used in the engineering of this ride 😁
If you look the other rows on the train, there are people of the mack family :)
I now know who is this guy 😂 thanks 👍
I've watched the POV of this ride so many times. It looks like a flawless coaster
but then there is the rattle sob 😭
This ride blew me away. Im not one to have my stomach drop on rides too much but that first launch upwards always gets me. I love it so much.
This is what Kings Island NEEDS to announce as their 2026 Coaster. Give it a clear #1 in the park. Don't need to spend all the money on all the crazy theming. But an intense standout launch coaster with 6 inversions would work so well.
a Stryker would be a great addition there!
i got on voltron about 10 days ago and its my favorite coaster out of the 40 or so i've ridden. what a ride
This looks like the mix of all of the great things of a roller coaster. Inversions, launches, theming, spike, intensity, length, and speed. Mack Rides is definitely a top manufacturer now. Love this review ❤
OMG so as an American I've been super lucky, so much here and people come from all over for the coasters here. Europe has always had some epic ones but I never felt a need to get over there for any, but over the years they've gotten so many amazing rides and this has to be the wildest yet. Insane layout and a beyond vertical launch? Forceful Mack launches? Just epic
So excited to see how you guys loved it! It really filled the gap that Europa Park had and it's become my favorite coaster i've ever ridden. The operations on it alone are stunning with an average capacity of 1700!!! people per hour. That Europa Park basically always manages to hit because of the moving station. Incredible ride
Mack must have worked with B&M on that beginning train shake scene 😂
LOL
I got to ride Voltron last week and I have to say its my favourite rollercoaster i've ever been on! Loved it
Is Voltron scary? Im thinking about going there but I am nervous
All four LSM fins are used at a time, but the fact there's four means each set needs less power which helps keep them cool.
Also increased surface area for cooling
@chrisogrady28 Yeah true
I got 8 rides of it this weekend & it is crazy good, right up there in a tier with only ride to happiness & steel vengeance of what I've ridden so far IMO. My first ride was back row & I got a super smooth train, no rattle even on the wing seat which maybe spoiled me a little, I was heavily considering it being my #1 at that point. Of my other rides I got 1 more smooth one in front left (best seat) but the rest were some variation of shaky to rough. We got unlimited access through the virual queue on the european coaster club event & I will say after 3 back-to-back rides I had a headache, still brilliant even with the roughness though!
After the first couple of major Mack rides I had been on I wasn't expecting them to hit it out of the park like this, but after doing Ride to Happiness & Voltron within 1 month I can't wait to get back on both, and also can't wait for some of their new projects!
What a great review, that really makes me happy!
The screen effects at 4:31 all show people involved in the project. Mate Rimac was already mentioned, in row 3 you have Patrick Marx, project manager for Voltron and in row 4 Lukas Metzger, general manager for Europa Park. Both celebrities ever since they hosted a construction documentary series for 2 years leading up to opening.
This alternates with animation of a train carrying 3 generations of Mack family waving at patrons. Can't wait to go back!!
The singing Tesla coils were also in the queue line for G-Force at Drayton Manor, which was a Maurer Sohne X-Car coaster
The trans Siberian Orchestra also used them on one of their Christmas tours
EP is my home park (going an average of 20 times per year since 2021) and we can't be disagree about the fact EP have FINNALY a signature and thrilling coaster!
I'm at a 23 rides on Voltron and comparing to my 94 credits, I can confirm this is a BANGER! (They're some vibration on the train yeah, but still wonderful)
So Voltron is my Top 2 (Behind RTH of course, and front of Kondaa, Taron, Untamed, F.L.Y.) and yeah, just come to EP and promise, your day (Or 2 maybe) will be incredible! :D
Taiga, RtH and then Voltron here, so I can agree! It definitely has some bad vibration on some of the wing seats. But if you avoid those seats, its an elite coaster!
The length and launch and turntable and all of this ride is so good. It reminds me of Hagrid's where its so long with so much track and trains everywhere with so many elements.
Just back from another coaster trip between Germany and Austria (Farewell Wild Train 😢), our last visit was for Europa Park for the 3rd time this year), I must say that it's a massive masterpiece 💕.
We were lucky enough to have the bouncing track working this time, it's really the icing of the cake.
On the following day, as we came back home,we enjoyed an absolutely brilliant night in parc Astérix (where we crossed path with you last year, my son was so happy to queue right behind you!😊).
Thank you for this very interesting video and for your enthusiasm and for sharing with us all.
Hope that you're planning to visit parc Astérix again for the opening of Cétautomatix!
I went on this a couple of weeks ago multiple times - great theming - but I prefer a b and m hyper
Something like a Mako Hyperion or Zadra is where it's at for me
You couldn't sit on volton for 10 rides in a row. If you did, you would come off ill
You can put all of the elements you want on a coaster with stunning theming. i love theming also, but if you want sudden turns drops constant without any actual coaster in a compact shakey layout in places, then Voltron is for you
Nice review! Voltron is pretty much the only coaster where i really get the feeling that the waiting time was really worth the ride.
I know this park since 1977 and after the opening of all the good or great MACK coasters in the last years all over the world I thought - they need something BIG for the 50th birthday…
And they delivered !
I was waiting for a coaster like that since at least 15 years !
The best coaster in 2024 in Europe
I got 13 rides on it in July over 2.5 days. Incredible ride! Got stuck out on the turn table I have it as my #5 coaster with over 700 credits. It is a must ride. I do also like ride to happiness more as it is my #1 overall.
I rode it 1 time in the beggining of october. I was so amazed by it (most intense coaster I've ride) that I didnt rode it a second time for fear of ruining the experience. Now I just can't wait to experience ot again
Finally a review for my #1 coaster😍
This ride honestly looks amazing. Hopefully we are able to go sometime!
My most anticipated review of the year👌
thanks for the review! this ride is really amazing. it has everything you can imagine. If I look at the MACK coasters this one is definitely my number 2. Ride to happiness is still my number 1. But that's personal off course ;)
I was looking forward for this since I saw your ride reaction!! Thanks for the great review!! Absolutely agree. The brake run before the turntable is very very sudden and slows you down in such an aggressive way! The backwards launch also really got me hard. Did not expect these forces at all.
I had now round about 20 rides on it and I totally love this coaster
Mack is getting really really good.
They are improving non stop as a company and with there rides
A 9.5 is too low, despite it running a bit rattly. It’s a 10/10 and it’s clear that it is. I also have Ride to Happiness slightly higher, but that too is a 10/10.
Ok
That's exactly why it's not an 10
They need to fix the trains.
it's not a 10 because of the pointless spike, the turntable and the rattle.
Watching this review, this could be a sneaky candidate to be my new #1. Footage looks awesome as always and great review!
I had the chance to ride this thing not too long after you did at the beginning of October.
I had one ride front row in the right, 6 rides third row left, two rides back right and one in the middle I think third row.
Boy, there ARE rougher trains than others. My smoothest ride was I think the very first one and there were some rough rides following on the outer seats on the left side.
Amen to everything you said about the coaster. I love the experience in the queue which is then topped by this amazing piece of engineering.
If you can, go to Rust and ride this thing. I went 12,5 hours from 🇦🇹 Austria and it was completely worth it.
How in the world did it take you 12,5h from austria?
@user-ve7hn2dh8h Deutsche Bahn.
I'm in the park right now lol. Have ridden it 2 times and now waiting virtual for the night ride. The queues are quite insane and it broke down at least once. But I can already say it's my favorite.
Fun fact, I've ridden it today and 2 weeks ago, and the ride wasn't really rough. It felt smooth, really, they fixed it
I had 6 fantastic rides on Voltron earlier this year. 5 were incredible, the final ride though was so incredibly rough. It was horrendous. Never been in pain like that on a coaster - must have been a train issue. Would still go back on it though 100% !!
Is Voltron scary? Im thinking about going there but I am nervous. I have always had a fear of roller coasters but I really want to ride Voltron :(
Had a ride on it last summer, I loved it.
Counting down the days to go back next December
Nice seeing you agin at hhn ! Love your channel!
thanks for saying hi!
love this ride, more than ride to happiness!
Got a chance to ride Voltron last week and I loved it. Not my new #1, but definitely a superior ride! Also got to ride F.L.Y. last week...soooo 😁
Europa Park is a straight RCT dreamland 😍
I went on opening day, in June and I will go again in December for the sweet cold Nightrides. It’s awesome, but I also like RTH more 👍
I rode it 2 days ago and it was really smooth, only the outside Seat was a little bit shacky but you almost couldnt notice it
Can’t wait to ride it in a few weeks!! 🙌🏻
I didn't fully understand the story but I love that is themed and has to do with electricity. Also the Ω symbol is super cool.
I'm riding this on my 21st birthday next year. I CANNOT WAIT
This is my favourite coaster of all time
Gotta love Coaster Studios
My hypothesis is that the vibrations on the bounce track are made by the LSM coils when a high frequency current is passed through them
It sits comfortably as my number 2 coaster.
The Turntable is soo epic during the ride. They are theming it continuesly. Last week i noticed 2 more big theming elements during the turntable. A big tesla coil prop filling out the middle of the LED lightnings. And the entrance/exit to the spike looks lik it broke open. Sadly they had to turn down the music on the turntable because of complaints. Croatia isnt finished yes. In 2025/2026 they wanna expand it with a more immersive part of croatia. A restaurant, a rocking boat and probably a new show theater.
You missed the swing launch capability on the boost section right before the stall 😊
I really wanna ride this!
Great video Taylor 😊.
this coaster is one of my favourites coasters ever bc i live in europe but this my 3 favourite coaster ever and on second place of my list is expeditiongeforce and first i have two coasters and those are zadra and taron
Tried it just a few months after it opened and it is a wonderful ride. From the moment you see it and until you leave it again (and a few minutes after) the excitement, the fun and the thrill never stops! Honest 10/10 for me personally (I have only done the middle and the back seat (but many times), so the backwards sections works for me!).
I really hope more parks do excactly what you said in the intro: Look at Europa-Park and what they did, and do more rides like this, because then we are in for some good times the coming years!
By the way, did you hear the rumors that Djurs Sommerland in Denmark is getting a new coaster for '25/26 that on the official submitted cityplans look like a 95% Toutatis clone? I wonder if that would place them above Fårup Sommerland on your top list, if they do? :D
I got the virtual line for voltron towards the end of the day, so I got to ride it again :)
But I can assure you any wait time for this coaster is worth it
Mackprodukt👍
We need an Edison themed Mack Stryker at Cedar Point since he was born in Milan, Ohio close to Sandusky.
Wasn’t he a fraud though? Or am I thinking of someone else?
@@rivertownproductions Yeah Edison was very much a soulless businessman, not a very good physicist. He stole various other inventions and profited from them
I agree with the almost perfect. But to me it is actually a bit too intense, as you are really thrown around in that crazy layout.
I love the ride, but being a bit too intense combined with the general rattle/roughness takes it just a bit down in my top ten.
Heard this did in fact win the Golden Ticket for best new coaster of 2024.
Best roller coaster in Europe
rode this last week, and wow. this coaster is alot, too much, in my opinion. its definetly very rough and super intense, especially the crazy airtime, the theming is still super amazing and features some amazing special ride elements, overall its good but rough
Agree with everything you’ve said including the feedback around it feeling a tad rough and not like a new coaster.
I would go all out and say some of the elements are violent, in a fun way, but would be painful to some. Mack did say this ride was designed to handle more extreme track curves
My most wanted to ride coaster. Sadly I will probably never get to Europa park unless I want to sell my house.
I mean, Why not? Put some money aside every month. Book cheap accommodation around the park and don't stay in the expensive four-star hotels, then it's doable. Also book your trip a year in advance. Then you'll save a lot of money
Please Kings Island, give us something like this in the USA
I just think it's great seeing someone else doing 4 across seating besides B&M and the occasional Intamin. I know they've done a couple of them before, but I hope this model blows up 3:15 Technically, Tesla was known for trying and succeeding partially at transmitting electricity wirelessly. So it's actually a really clever play on reality.
Just curious, if it was current Vekoma-ish glass smooth, would it have a 10?
I think so, yes
The turntable does rotate in both directions. Had it happen 😌
I did batman gotham city escape a couple weeks ago and I was wondering if the ejector hill is stronger on voltron than that, i have to wait until May to ride it and i'm already looking forward to it
With Hyperia and Voltron both opening this year, i think its safe to say that MACK Rides are the MVP's of 2024.
Voltron is a masterpiece, but I sadly found it so ruff the time I rode it last summer that it was just crazy uncomfortable. I often ride el condor ( the SLC ) in Walibi Holland I find this smoother then all my rides on Voltron. I really hope they fix’s this.
The use of real electricity for such a show is the wildest part to me.
if this ride was as smooth as it shouldve been i wouldve considered it a perfect coaster
King's Island will get one of these on 26.
Mix Velocicoaster with Skyrush and a dash of Hagrid's and....Voilà!😁
One of these for the empty Vortex spot, please!
not a bad idea!
So what’s better the smiler or voltron
we prefer Voltron
My very first ride was on one of the rough trains. Luckily, I knew about the issue; otherwise, I'd probably not have ridden it again that day. It felt way worse than any SLC!
Just wondering how you get footage on the coaster itself. Don’t most parks prohibit the use of action cameras?
We had special permission.
Europapark allows action cams on chest belts on all of their rides. But you need extra permission if you want to have it on a stick in your hand and they make sure to tape it perfectly around your hand and wrist.
@@CoasterStudios how do you get special permission? does it have to do with having a big following on social media? or call ahead or how does that process work?
I had two rides on it this summer on two separate days.. and it was terrible. Ive never had such a shaky ride on a new coaster. We were three coaster enthusiast and were shocked, I really hope that I get a better experience next time. Otherwise I will prefer Wodan and even Silver Star and Blue Fire over this.
Is Voltron scary? Im thinking about going there but I am nervous
4:02 lol This is Actually Also the logo of Swis Watch Brand: Omega! Coinsedence🤨. lmao😂😂😂😂😂
I loved it, but one ride was enough for me. It's really intense and fast-paced. I think I outgrew intense rollercoasters, damnit.
Mackprodukt 95% perfekt
I would hate to see the "electric" bill for this ride! 😂
Still cheaper than operating a chain lift usually
Didn't expect then to make nikola Tesla hot
At 14:50 you can see a the rear wheels are off the track. The tolerances are probably the reason why the coaster doesn't feel smooth.
How does it compare to VelociCoaster
id say voltron is better due to the variety of elements and the unique technology used, ive seen people say veloci is better and that voltron is better so its a preference but yes it does compare to it
@ being in the uk; I went Orlando in may and that was the best coaster I’ve ever done; the second launch was insane
@@dan9700 if that 2nd launch was insane you should try tarons second launch

If Mack and gerstlaur had a baby
Best ride they ever done? Do you think it is better then ride to happiness?
We give the edge to Ride to Happiness but this shortly follows!
Front row on this ride was world class. Didnt enjoy the ride on other rows. I felt like it was beating me up.
Its a relentless ride with some awesome elements and its certainly unique. I find it a bit much though to be honest.
I agree with the backwards part. Dont see the point of it. Should have been higher or had a twist or something.
