    the SF in 2011 is his best match on clay ever. In the final against Nadal he had a point to win the first set, but his drop shot didn't touch the side line. That final was his biggest chance to beat Nadal at the French Open. Sadly it didn't work out

    to pick a year that Federer was best yet didn't win a slam (post 2003), I would have to say 2011. My first ever tennis match that I ever watched was that last one against Djokovic. I remember the commentators talking about Djokovic's dominant year thus far, not having lost a match the ENTIRE year thus far. Then Federer broke the streak. Probably the main reason I became a Fed fan at first. Then as I watched more of his art, I became a fed fan for that as well. Sadly I started watching tennis after his golden years, but I still feel privileged every time I get to watch him up until the sad day that he retires. Thank God for RUclips so i can still relive those awesome moments of Federer waving his Wilson Wand.

    The 2011 match against Djokovic is one of the big reasons why Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time. Novak was having one of the best years in tennis ever (coincidentally, probably the only better one was Roger's in 2006), and Roger--who was definitely past his prime in terms of the average tennis career--thoroughly defeated Djokovic in a beautiful match.

Amazingly found a way to lose the first set, tb in second and won the 3rd. Minus his usual choking he was playing well enough to beat rafa. So close to ultimate glory.

    • @Tesla_Death_Ray
      @Tesla_Death_Ray 8 лет назад +2

      InsideOutBH Every point is a big point in a tiebreak and rafa loves to surprise fed by going to his forehand on his first shot after the serve. (Wimbledon 2008 5th set, fed up 4-3 with break point. That is the blueprint for nadal saving break points against fed)
      There's no algorithm for dealing with that. Its a permanent shitty dynamic for fed and simple for rafa to do easy damage. But what can fed do? Lean to his fh? That's asking a lot.
      Actually id prefer to see fed get his returns to rafas forehand on break points. At least that stops him being surprised by the next shot

      Justin Niu in 2009 Fed was really good on clay. He beat Nadal in straight sets in Madrid that year. This year it'll be either Djokovic or Nadal. Murray might be a dark horse. Fed stands no chance UNLESS he magically summons his form in 2009.

      hililala321 He has a phenomenal draw this year, I think he will make the finals. Only trouble he might have is Monfils who has beaten him their last 2 meetings or Nishikori who has had a pretty darn good clay court season so far. But his biggest competition won't come until the finals because Djoker, Nadal, and Murray are all on the other side of the draw. If there ever was a year to win it again, this is it, so long as Djokovic or Murray take care of their end and defeat Nadal.

      lammie001 "Winner, his 14th Grand Slam title and 1st at Roland Garros, the one he was missing to become the sixth man in history to complete the career Grand Slam, the Swiss Roger Federer."
      "Vainqueur, et il remporte son quatorzième tournoi du Grand Chelem, le premier à Roland Garros, celui qui lui manquait pour devenir le sixième homme de l'histoire à remporter au moins une fois tous les tournois du Grand Chelem, le Suisse Roger Federer."

    Just imagine if Federer didn’t play during the same era as nadal. He would have at least 3-4 more French open titles

    what an exciting RG 2009, but The best was in 2011 when he beat Djokovic unbeatable in the first 6 Month

    2009 FO Win may be a memorable match with the career slam and all but i think the match vs Nadal in 2011 final was a good one although it was a dejavu with 4 sets, Federer threatened to take Nadal the distance or faint hopes of win and barring the 4th set Federer was in on it in every set...i would even rate that highly than the win against Soderling.

    • @gropplervideos5979
      @gropplervideos5979 9 лет назад +1

      Romain ESC I guess because the 2009 final was kind of boring as Federer pounded Soderling without having to produce anything special. In the 2011 SF, however, Federer offered one of the most brilliant tennis performances in history to defeat a then-unbeaten Djokovic.

    There are 2 mistakes in the video:
    1. The top moment should be the 2009 Roland Garros final, where Federer finally triumphed after finishing at 2nd place for 3 years in a row.
    2. The 2008 Roland Garros quarterfinal between Monfils and Federer shouldn't have been included; there were so many other better moments for Federer at Roland Garros before.
