Beautiful job brother, it seems to be a perfect balance between strenght, lightness and beauty in one magnificent sword. Congratulations. A hug from Colombia!!!!
@@stelena1406Probably also 10x if not more time-consuming, and you need all kinds of other stuff that is overly demanding in money and resources. I honestly see no advantage aside from sentimental stuff by using the old way. Why refuse advanced tools? I bet the smiths from the early days would have sold their firstborn for some tools we have today.
I love you work man! I’m working on my first sword currently which is a replica of the Netflix Witcher steel sword. I’m having the hardest time with the crossguard and wondering if you could tell me what size steel you started with for the crowsguard?

Hey thanks alot. To be honest I cant really remember and I rarely make swords. You are in the cf ally group right? Maybe start a discussion there? Best regards!
@ yes I am in the CLF Ally group haha. I know but your swords have turned out so good and your axes out of this world. I posted about it yesterday in the group asking about size for crossguard a and got some answers but don’t want to keep posting asking questions since I don’t want to annoy everyone with my constant questions 😂 figured I’d ask since you made a Witcher sword
Man i want one of those haha really Nice. Mycket jobb där men riktigt fint gjort minne för livet kan man säga. Skulle va fint att ha som samlar objekt 😊 som sagt bra jobbat 😊
@ Ive yet to read any of the books (played the game though). As with most scifi authors I suspect there is likely little or no info on the HOW behind that question ... IMO authors only tend to write that they know, and perilously few authors ive read have any meaningful knowledge of bladesmithing, so this is virgin turf. If modern technology were permitted i'd wonder if electroplating the finished blade with silver would be feasible. That would incur the burden of annual polishing to remove tarnish, but I cant imagine anything more authentic than that. Inlaying the fuller in some fashion seemed like an easier option off the top of my head, but I have no idea how that'd work either. Cheers. Edit: It's too bad Mithril is just a fictional metal, and ruinously expensive at that, because it combines all the qualities of the lightness and strength of titanium with the magical properties of silver. That would be my first choice. 😎

This is a fantastic sword! Your attention to detail is very strong! Well done. I’ve been waiting, after listening to the Forgecast
Thank you!

is lesser.
Holy crap! That's one badass sword!

Great job Nils! I appreciate your simple work area and I love country side in the background.
Thank you very much!
very well done Nils. that is a beast of a sword.
Thank you!
Just imagine how hard it was to make such a thing without any of the modern means.
I wanna be a blacksmith, and using the old means and tools would be more fun to me.
There are plenty of crossover means, mostly came about when blacksmiths started crossing over with machinists.
Such as Fly presses and cam hammers.

That's one big sword! Love the handle. What did it weigh in the end?
Quite heavy, just about 2kg. Personally i blame the pommel.

I wonder if there's a way to incorp some actual silver .. perhaps an inlay for the fuller ?
Yeah i know it would be awesome. Im not quite sure about how they were supposed to be made. Maybe it was coated in silver?

@@matyas_laczko You'll have to forgive me ... for me, high school was 40 years ago, and chemistry was not my subject of choice.
Witcher lore says it’s a steel sword coated in silver
OK so what did you start with? It looks like a piece of scrap. Good steel junk steel what?
Ot was an old piece of leafspring
Beautimas
Aerondight Iris Ofieri kilij I want you to make these three swords♪
Aerondigth is cool
What steel did you use?
It looked like a cultivator, which best guess would be done kind of spring steel, probably 10xx or ether 51/41xx something.
guess i was looking for the actual forging process for silver, not steel strap... thanks anyway!!
what about enchantments..???
What about them?
Do you have South Park characters on your arm??
Yes
Eu não sei di quê povoado você e mais você e um viking recarnado na era morderna
