Great video. IDK if you're from PA, but the gov't robbed us of FREE Dispersed camping a little while ago w/ this new system. And I'm sure there's a mix of a ton of empty sites due to this absurd change, as well as a ton of people camping without paying. I'll never pay for a dispersed site in PA, because I won't stand for the gov't screwing over people on tight budgets just trying to get away from the chaos of the normal grind they want us to be stuck in.

No we aren't local - Indiana - this was the first time we camped in a state that had this type of system. So now we are wondering how many other states do. I think some really popular areas are just to control how many people are there. In many ways it does seem to go against some of the things that make dispersed camping attractive. Besides the money, just the joy of finding that perfect campsite as you're exploring, and making it home for the night. We reserved a site, but when we arrived to the area, there was another site around the corner that we liked much more - we would have moved to that one! We know there are issue in Indiana with people trashing dispersed campsites, I don't know if that is an issue in Pennsylvania too? I guess having reservations might make it less likely.

I just got back from an adventure and almost camped there! I wasnt sure about reserving a site the same day so I got something on hipcamp instead. But this looks lovely!

We were a little nervous since we've never reserved a dispersed site before but it worked out well. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure!

@HEKNBAK it was quite an adventure, that's for sure. I watched your niagra videos as I was going to, only on the us side. I need to go back and see it from the Canadian side now.

You are currently not able to use the honor system at the motorized campsites and you need to make rhe reservation by noon day of, or stop in at an office.
This system is new as of Nov 2022. They used to be free until then, and someone being in your site happened often, one of the reasons they went tiy the paid reservation.
I have not run into the issue in many nights of motorized camping. We have had fisherman parked in the site and one time, people still there letting their tent dry out. I just always have the document of reservation and the office number.
So far, in those instances, a simple explanation and kindness have solved the issue.
Purple Lizard Maps are a great resource for navigating to the motorized sites as they show the gated roads, road type and topography that most GPS units do not.
    Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience! We loved Bald Eagle - our next video is about some of the things we discovered while exploring there. We hope to get back to Pennsylvania again at some point!

What's the song at the beginning of the video?

Hey, thanks for watching! Right at the very beginning is "Cooper Island" by Martin Klem, but I think you are probably asking about the one with vocals that starts about a minute in? That one is "Our Own Thing" by Binkley. We get most of our music from Epidemic Sound.

Don't waste your time in the arm pit. And people from the pit, stay there. These woods may not be safe for you!
