My sons TJ is also leaking into passenger floor pan. I think I'll see about bypassing the heater with a bridging tube. The car isn't worth the cost of paying someone to pull the dash.
Rob Kenning, it's fairly common for Poulenc to bypass the heater core when they leak; apparently it is possible to remove the core through the glove box opening, however it will require removing the AC evaporator as well which of course then will require a re-gas of the AC.
@@gavsshed_7393 what would you estimate the price difference of getting someone to remove the whole dash and do it over going through the glovebox and re gassing? And would this be the same for a TW?.. my TW is leaking and im trying to see ifbthere is a way to bypass the heatercore instead? But by the looks of this video the TJ has a metal pipe going through the fire wall and not two in and out hoses like the tutorials I've seen for bypassing the heatercore on other cars?
InconsistentlyConsistent Cauk ", I had mine re-gassed about a year before that for $140. Probably just need to be real careful not to damage any seals.
InconsistentlyConsistent Cauk I bought a 97 that was bypassed, just follow the two lines back to the engine and put a loop there. Can still use the AC to de-fog the windscreen when required.
Those plastic friggen elbows. Tried to do mine a while back and the elbow just disintegrated when I squeezed the bloody clip. You'd think that they would've designed it better to get the core out to replace them. Instead of having to remove the whole dash to replace (shouting) A STUPID LITTLE $20 PLASTIC FRIGGEN ELBOW. WHERE'S THE FRIGGEN TEN MILL FRIGGEN SOCKET. F THIS S. THIS IS A FRIGGEN JOKE. Arr bugger it. I'm getting a beer. 😂
I have a 20 year old Magna with 260,000km and I've never had any heater issues. The coolant has been changed every 3 years on average and have kept it maintained, it is a great car. But my father's TJ Magna with 200,000km has this heater issue, he has never changed the coolant I believe.
I was hoping my TW was one of the lucky ones which didn't have this dreaded problem.... Not to be! Looks like these pipes were a poor quality from the factory and bascially every magna will suffer from this. Already bought some aftermarket pipe and seal replacements and will be replacing them soon
I need to bypass mine, however I can't locate the two hoses in which I need to cut and loop up in the engine bay and can't find any luck on Google could you possibly tell me which ones to cut? I've got a 2004 mitsubuishi magna AWD
There are two lines that connect to the inlets in the firewall, you can trace these back to the engine. You can create your loop between the two inlets on the engine and remove the pipes from the firewall. They are both held on both ends with hose clamps.
Yep, I just bypassed mine yesterday. Those stupid plastic pipes let go. Fu€k me I had some coolant in the cab. I'm not pulling the dash to replace. Bugger that.
Can do it without taking dash out. Aircon lines, if you’re gentle enough you can get it out of the way. Which I’ve done so on my awd before when I had it
Any chance you can explain how to get around this? I also heard from someone else there is another way without removing the dash and removing the ac gas

@@gavsshed_7393 3 days too late haha ended up doing the bypass and all good so far. 👍
Was a bit of a headache to do but would rather do it that way than pull the whole dash.

Do you still have your Magna? is the heater core still ok?

What do you lose if you bypass? And is there any way to monitor anf prevent?
