Yeah, it makes very little since that they didn’t include more interiors. For example, the diner you chase the rival boss’ brother out of is fully rendered, and lights are on, but the door is locked. Beautiful game, just kinda empty after the story ends.
After playing RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima, the freeride mode feels so empty, even Mafia3 freeride mode has more things to do. Aside from the story, which is magnificent, the remake doesn’t have much to offer. As someone who played the original, I do admire the sentiment in sticking to the original story. However, with this being made from the ground up, I was really looking forward to other refined additions such as side missions (Free ride hidden ones hardly qualify), rival gang hideouts/rackets to raid, stores, eating at restaurants etc. In all honesty, this remake is a huge let down. Total trash.
"side missions" please, no.. atleast not in the story mode - the original game was a linear game and it's great that the remake is in the same way too.. I don't need Mafia 3, Ubisoft open-world bullshit in a Mafia game.. Mafia 1 & 2 are great linear experiences.. but I would like to go to stores and restaurants just like in Mafia 2.. that would be nice
wes8723 I see what you’re saying. Well, if not the story mode, then certainly add them in Free ride. The telephone booths and searching for notes is boring.
Honestly for a game map this small there should be way more things to do its not like rdr2 where the map is so big that no every interior has to be accessible even after 2 years i love rdr2. Also why does the whole game have to be story missions without any breaks in between for free roam like every other game and you start the mission when you want to and it doesn't make it any better that after all the missions you when through to finally unlock free ride mode the open world is just boring , they should have spent alot more time on this game in my opinion.
Story telling and level design is over the top . but still tons of things are missing for me it is a solid 8/10 . I think hanger 13 wanted to make this game so special and 2k games rushed and cut their budget like they always do . and pc version suffering from micro stutter ,Ghosting and tons of Bugs and the key mapping is terrible . if they took another 2 years it would have beat rdr 2 in details
I just want them to add more things to do for freeride mode. Anything. Side missions, rival gang roaming around, random events, random encounter, and pedestrians that fights back if they got punched.
Ghost 1 i’m not too sure where is it now, but i saw someone post a photo of the hangar 13 statement on reddit on the mafia subreddit, idk if it was their twitter or the website, but it was real statement they put out
You can run out of gas and low on gas you refuel by going to the gas station and see it where it tells you how fast your going it's the one next to the radar
There are a few cars I can drive and be outta gas in minutes. That's with the speed limiter on. Seems kinda buggy to me. Like the late 30s taxis, not even two trips into a free ride taxi job and I'm outta gas. That got annoying but some other cars seem to never run out of gas. Also the meter for gas doesn't move so I find out I need gas when it's slowly moving.
It depends on how you play open world games. If you like exploring and seeing what’s out there in the map, you’re pretty limited to what you can do. But if you like going on rampages and messing around with the AI’s, it’s really fun
Keep in mind that this game is brand new, and most, if not all games have problems/missed features from launch. Don’t worry guys, let’s just see what this game has to offer in the future.
Great video bro, I really wanted to see some stores that we could rob & stuff just like in mafia 2 but then I discovered there was nothing in the free roam :( I just finished this story absolutely amazing game, the ending gives me more appreciation for mafia 2s story aswell. Can’t wait for mafia 4 I hope they bring an awesome story like this one and also create an open world with tons of fun things to do They could defo rival gta that way. Ps: mafia 3 is trash :/
Mafia 3 kinda trash but i appreciate tht game more tho for actually havin side missions and more customizable shit and robbin places and better music mafia 1 is dead aff
I’m an old soul so just cruising the city in awesome cars listening to some 1930s music is a must for me every now and again. It’s like riding a horse in RDR2
One of my favorite things to do in free ride is hitting motorcycle riders and people sitting on park benches. Answering the question about killing people by hitting their cars: If you hit the car at just the right angle, the car will explode and the people will burn to death inside.
This game is not gta so if you gonna buy it to do fun things besides the story i suggest you skip it . Imo it was made purely for story purposes so dont expect much while in freeroam.
As far free roaming goes yeah for sure. At least between missions in 2 you could pick fights shootouts rob stores so long as you didn't die or get arrested which would send you to the last check point.
For the people who say, there are zero things to do in free ride, There are 'side missions' in the game (incredible amount of them). They are very very hidden, the salieri bar letters, lucas bertone garage missions. This is not one of those games that has markers and icons cluttered & marked all over the map and screen for you. Also, Incredible amount of secrets / easter eggs you can also find. I think people got very very used to open world games like ghost of tsushima and rdr2 where there are icons and markers all over the map for them to go to. Plus, this game isn't a triple-a full priced 60$, its either between 30-40$ depending on which platform and where you live.
@Stonks because this game doesn't want to be gta. If you haven't played any mafia game and this is your first mafia game then you will think this, mafia games are always story focused and the city is for the backdrop only. That's why in the story mode, the missions are called chapters and not missions.
The only thing that is good with this game is the STORY and the GRAPHICS. But they did not write the story themselves. Instead they copied and slightly altered the story Daniel Vavrá wrote now almost 20 years ago for the original Mafia. While the game looks awesome visually, the world is just a TV Set for the story. Once the story is over all that remains is an empty movie set. It’s even more empty than what it was back in 2002. While that might have worked 18 years ago, it does not work now. Hangar 13 should look at the future not at the past. Other than that, definitive edition is just Mafia 3 reskinned. The only thing that was original about mafia 3 was ironically the story - the rest of the game was just a poor attempt to copy all the features and mechanics from other popular, mainstream AAA-titles. They did not even do that well. Much features was sloppy implemented and the game as plagued by countless glitches and bugs. Mission design was extremely repetetive. Not much innovation there either. Seriously, either Hangar 13 is either very, very bad at making mafia games or they do not get sufficient development time. They’re amazing at making cutscenes, face animations, textures, color and lighning of the world, but that is about it. Either way it is going to kill of the franchise in the future. Going back to the past, the golden days of mafia, and relying and relying on clouds of nostalgia to keep the series above surface, isn’t going to fix a thing. It’s like a lifeboat with a whole in it - it eventually will sink. For those hoping for a miracle, like big updates to Freeride, i'm sorry to say that is most likely not going to happen. They're not going to release any bigger updates, because that costs money, and this game does not have enough big audience to cover such costs, mark my words.

Yeah even the free roam on Mafia 1 of 2002, you have to get creative on your own. They give you money when you kill Mafia members & I think you can go buy Molotovs & equipment. But in this one they added Motorcycles & boats, as far as I know. In Mafia 1 2002, their head hits the steering wheel & die if you crash into them fast.

Also, Incredible amount of secrets / easter eggs you can also find.
@@XzaroX whats the point i played the whole game and never had to refill my car once didnt even know it was a feature
i wish they can use this engine and make it more like the godfather 1 dons edition where theres rival families and rivals roaming the streets owning different businesses and you take over
The amount of potential with this game, imagine a lobby with 20+ people messing around in this amazing city, what a game.
great video, you brought up some creative stuff i wouldn't have thought about
Thank you bro! appreciate it
0:34 how did you got molotov cocktails in free roam?
MrGTAmodsgerman Go to Vincenzo’s
@@imsoil707 he don't have any. But someone telled me now that there is a trainer to get one.
The fact that there is a button prompt for steal boat and like...you can actually drive the boat you land on, leads me to believe they have gotta be planning to add boats at some point!!
No, it's just running on the Mafia 3 engine. That's why the AI is so cancer bad too.
Petition to make Mafia 1 more open world!!!
I agree
"side missions" please, no.. atleast not in the story mode - the original game was a linear game and it's great that the remake is in the same way too.. I don't need Mafia 3, Ubisoft open-world bullshit in a Mafia game.. Mafia 1 & 2 are great linear experiences.. but I would like to go to stores and restaurants just like in Mafia 2.. that would be nice
wes8723 I see what you’re saying. Well, if not the story mode, then certainly add them in Free ride. The telephone booths and searching for notes is boring.
agreed
Honestly for a game map this small there should be way more things to do its not like rdr2 where the map is so big that no every interior has to be accessible even after 2 years i love rdr2. Also why does the whole game have to be story missions without any breaks in between for free roam like every other game and you start the mission when you want to and it doesn't make it any better that after all the missions you when through to finally unlock free ride mode the open world is just boring , they should have spent alot more time on this game in my opinion.
fro sure i agree
This game has so much potential it’s nuts
Story telling and level design is over the top . but still tons of things are missing for me it is a solid 8/10 . I think hanger 13 wanted to make this game so special and 2k games rushed and cut their budget like they always do . and pc version suffering from micro stutter ,Ghosting and tons of Bugs and the key mapping is terrible . if they took another 2 years it would have beat rdr 2 in details
Agreed I loved this game evan mafia 3 story was great but that game could've really used more time than mafia 1
I just want them to add more things to do for freeride mode. Anything. Side missions, rival gang roaming around, random events, random encounter, and pedestrians that fights back if they got punched.
Rumuel Nathanael good news! hangar 13 are planning to add new stuff in updates if you check out a statement they put on the mafia website
Og Ome thank god
Ghost 1 i’m not too sure where is it now, but i saw someone post a photo of the hangar 13 statement on reddit on the mafia subreddit, idk if it was their twitter or the website, but it was real statement they put out
You can run out of gas and low on gas you refuel by going to the gas station and see it where it tells you how fast your going it's the one next to the radar
I have yet to run out of gas and use a station or pay the cops or do anything the world feels so deadd
i love that detail
There are a few cars I can drive and be outta gas in minutes. That's with the speed limiter on. Seems kinda buggy to me. Like the late 30s taxis, not even two trips into a free ride taxi job and I'm outta gas. That got annoying but some other cars seem to never run out of gas. Also the meter for gas doesn't move so I find out I need gas when it's slowly moving.
The fact that u cant swim, and ton of invisible wall
4:07 remember playing gta back in 2013 💀💀💀 yeah I remember playing the new gta 5 in 2021 too 😭😭😭😭😭
It depends on how you play open world games. If you like exploring and seeing what’s out there in the map, you’re pretty limited to what you can do. But if you like going on rampages and messing around with the AI’s, it’s really fun
Haha yea the rampages are dope
jb11games
So fun
Thank you for the shoutout.🙂
no prob bro, thank you
Keep in mind that this game is brand new, and most, if not all games have problems/missed features from launch. Don’t worry guys, let’s just see what this game has to offer in the future.
Good point
A year later and nothing has changed. Play the original after you play this it’s still worth playing.
@@thefonzkiss lmfao, I completely forgot I commented this
I’m subbing just because you said “west wiver bridge” at 3:00
Great video bro, I really wanted to see some stores that we could rob & stuff just like in mafia 2 but then I discovered there was nothing in the free roam :( I just finished this story absolutely amazing game, the ending gives me more appreciation for mafia 2s story aswell. Can’t wait for mafia 4 I hope they bring an awesome story like this one and also create an open world with tons of fun things to do They could defo rival gta that way. Ps: mafia 3 is trash :/
Mafia 3 kinda trash but i appreciate tht game more tho for actually havin side missions and more customizable shit and robbin places and better music mafia 1 is dead aff
thanks bro, and yeah i agree
I’m an old soul so just cruising the city in awesome cars listening to some 1930s music is a must for me every now and again. It’s like riding a horse in RDR2
i got the airport thing and there isn’t much except you can get pretty fast on the runway
nothing of that is fun except for the cars
Are there not random enemy gang members you can get into random gun fights with?
nope
nope
No,just cops.
You can do tons of things in Mafia original . They are completely absent in remake .
That is not true. Look at mafia 2 or the original mafia the game 18 years ago.
Even the story wasnt even tht good becuse it was short af passed it in like 5 hours
@@sleeper626 no ones fault you rushed it
Talpă TV 😂
Really disappointed Free Ride Extreme isn’t in this. That had so many fun missions.
There is side missions in the bar you have read the note and go to a phone both that is ringing
He said that
good stuff but i had a question at 0:27 how did you get molotovs because i can’t find them anywhere in free ride
and sorry for the late comment
Hopefully, they’ll add race events like in Mafia 3, and allow us to do taxi fare jobs during free ride in some update in the future, if they do so.
id love that
So, basically Mafia 2 is the better game in the series, great video by the way.
As far free roaming goes yeah for sure. At least between missions in 2 you could pick fights shootouts rob stores so long as you didn't die or get arrested which would send you to the last check point.
They definitely need to improve the free roam mode. Or else, this games is worth 15 euros at best
Lmao yea dont even bring into account the 12hour story, lmao yea 15 euros
@@Fadiessa It's a replayed story from the past. Just remade. The new things should be in free roam mode, THAT would be and should make a difference
@@petros-v4w no this game is about the story they dont need to change anything
@@Capybara_is_King They could add more things to free roam though
@@petros-v4w nah i would rather like to get a mafia 4 now
Great video and some really good content. Liked and subscribed! 👍
For the people who say, there are zero things to do in free ride, There are 'side missions' in the game (incredible amount of them). They are very very hidden, the salieri bar letters, lucas bertone garage missions. This is not one of those games that has markers and icons cluttered & marked all over the map and screen for you. You have to discover everything by yourself (just like the original game), there are also lots of secret outfits you can unlock, find tons of different types of collectables, and you can even change weather of the city in the bar.
I remember on mafia you can unlock a lot nice cars idk if they still have monster truck on this one but it was something definitely consider to find.
@Stonks because this game doesn't want to be gta. If you haven't played any mafia game and this is your first mafia game then you will think this, mafia games are always story focused and the city is for the backdrop only. That's why in the story mode, the missions are called chapters and not missions.
Very short but pleasing gameplay. A mix between 1 & 2. Best of Both Worlds further back in time.
Are all the guns free in free ride mode?
@@angelodeguzman3264 Yeah, you get them from Vinny but you can t get grenades or molotovs (you unlock the golden tommy gun and the golden revolver by completing 2 specific free ride ,,,extreme " missions, search the location of these ringing public telephones on the internet or follow the hints from Helbert letters about where the missions start)
I like to back my car up in an alley and start picking every cop who comes close to me with the shotgun. When I'm done I can barely move from all the dead bodies on the ground 🤣
That's why I just bought original mafia 1 on steam. Definitive edition is waaaay empty and shallow mechanic wise.
Same a while back got Mafia on steam. Love it.
Was really excited to go to the race track during free roam, only to discover that it is close. What a shame as the track is really good
2k needs to lose the rights to Mafia, and Rock Star needs to pick it up, because this game is very very dry.
And that’s why I’m getting quite concerned about Mafia 4. Hopefully, it won’t be a let down.
No way is rockstar going to take over...alll they care is milking GTA Online.
You guys are morons. Hanger13 is a promising company..stop hating.
Yup rockstar would make mafia great again
lolitsaustin I’m not hating Hanger 13 m8. I’m just hoping the next installment will be good, but has us play as a mafia member like in tue first two games, even though I highly enjoyed the third game as well.
Shooter 99 The top two developers I could imagine making their own mafia game is CD Project Red and Rockstar, if that ever be a thing, whether they do it together or individually, but I’m sure they would do a good job.
Your thing with the motorbike why didn’t I think of that way...I spent a long time trying to get in there lol
wish there was a taxi driver minigame
Me too
The Crazy Horse (156mph) is the fastest in acceleration but in speed its the Flame Spear @ 174mph
I hope in this game hangar 13 will released the online MAFIA definitive edition like rdr online and gta5 online it will be great bro..
Yes!
Free ride has 12 side missions, you can be a taxi driver, and you can race any vehicle at the track
Does anyone think they'll add updates to this game to give us more things to do in free ride?
I hope so or to let us at least go to the airport without mods
Definitely not
I'd like to bet they're probably done with it now

@@shreyasbytes6621 Don't care about any of those. I just want to shoot enemy mobsters. Instead, I can only kill civilians (which are boring), and cops (which kill me instantly). I get that it isn't meant to be an open world, but it's even more empty than Mafia 3's open world
You can clearly see the artists put a lot of effort on Mafia's world. Tons of details and beautiful places. Yet it's one of the most underutilized open world maps of all time...
Compares Mafia to GTA V when the games are entirely different
Yeah even the free roam on Mafia 1 of 2002, you have to get creative on your own. They give you money when you kill Mafia members & I think you can go buy Molotovs & equipment. But in this one they added Motorcycles & boats, as far as I know. In Mafia 1 2002, their head hits the steering wheel & die if you crash into them fast.
Haven’t Picked This Game Up Yet, Worth?
Yes bro is worth it!!
No,go play fortnite you miserable anti social nerd
If you like story driven games it's a 100% recommend play amazing
Wait for a sale
If you want a story driven game then go for it, but there's nothing much to do once you beat the story. Free roam is boring and feels empty.
the reason the train stops is cause its not a train, its a tramcar, it goes slow enough that it can stop quickly unlike a train which can take up to multiple minutes to stop
I really miss the mafians on the free ride to earn money, i miss to possibility to drive with tram and train. It became pretty boring. No extreme game
The mafia games could've become the best crime franchise (beating gta) if they put more efforts on the side activities and world building.
hate the fact after story mode the replay ability is dead other than that it was an incredible game 3.8/5
well said
Can you recommend a low budget GPU to allow to play this game smoothly on decent settings? I'm building a new PC but don't want to spend much on GPU as I'm not a gamer really.
Disappointed they’d make a free roam with literally no interaction with buildings or anything else. Why would I want to run on foot when it’s a remake they should’ve added way more extra’s I’m actually disappointed in this. It’s literally a downgrade more than anything in my opinion how much running around and doing your own thing are you supposed to do.
