  • In the recent months, I have been deeply engrossed in capturing the mesmerizing beauty of hummingbirds through ultra-slow-motion video, a unique and challenging endeavor. The majority of these riveting clips were filmed in Kelowna, BC, a veritable hub for these agile creatures. The endeavor required immense patience and careful observation.
One of the standout features of this footage is the captivating illumination through the hummingbirds' wings. This was achieved by utilizing a circular polarizer on the video camera, a technique typically reserved for still photography - as far as I'm aware, a first in video recording.
In addition, I have been able to record the fascinating workings of the hummingbird's tongue in its natural environment, a feat previously achieved by National Geographic only within a controlled lab setting.
Furthermore, the footage captures an unprecedented event of a hummingbird in the act of piercing another - an occurrence brought to life in exquisite detail through the power of slow motion. This endeavor provides a fresh and unprecedented perspective into the enchanting world of these tiny aviators..
Taken with Chronos HD2.1 and Chronos 1.4 over several months / years.
