    Hey Tony, I have a bad lower back and getting a step-up seat next month. I have a 02 883r and was wondering if those bars would work for me? I actually am comfortable with the stock bars but really like those bars you've got. Thanks buddy ps: I'm about the same size as you 5"6

      Hi Jim, the biltwell Frisco bars do have 7 inches of rise which will sit you up more, but unfortunately they only have 3/4 inch of pullback. Which means they are a bit of a reach forward. Road6customs makes a Frisco bar with aliitle more pullback I would give them a look.

    My Frisco’s just moved on me when I hit a bump on the highway. Scary as hell! I’m off to Homedepot to get some Emery cloth as you mentioned. When you put the emery cloth on, did you face the rough end against the bars or the clamp?

    A month ago I installed a set of Biltwell Chumps on my new Sportster, a week later I hit a small pot hole & they moved back about 2 or 3 inches, Scared the crap outta me! The quality of these bars are way better than Harley bars but Biltwell really screwed them up by not having them knurled. Shame on you Biltwell, luckily I stayed in control of my bike. I'm gonna try the emery cloth. Thanks for the tip!

      Jim Mansi I'm going to install the Chumps on my Iron soon. Did you luck out and not have to get a new brake line? Great tip with the emery cloth, Tony!

      I answered my own question 😀 I installed the Chumps tonight. The brake line works, just barely, though and I had to bend it a little. I'd change it myself, but I have ABS. They need to be reset by computer at Harley after replacement, unfortunately. Chumps look great!

      No problems, I do wish they had a little more pull back. I do have to lean forward a bit.

    Hi Tony, im a bit shorter than you around 5"5. Do you think i would have to reach for the handlebars to much so it makes the ride uncomfortable?

    • @TonysGarage

      Yeah man, it was a pretty good reach for me. I would check out some other frisco style bars with more pullback.

    Hey Tony! How's it going?
    Can you tell me something? How does parking with this handlebar feel? I bougth my 883 a few weeks back and I have been struggling to park my bike because whenever I pull the bar near the tank (Something like 20/25 degrees to the left or right) the weithg of the bike becomes overwhelming for me to handle (I have been using a z flat bar and its less then 4".
    I have tripped the bike like three times trying to handle this and I have been feeling quite shitty for the past couple of days and I don't really know what to do... I don't know if its really the bar or just a characteristic of bigger bikes or this bike is just not for me...
    Thanks man!

    • @TonysGarage
      @TonysGarage  4 года назад +1

      Hey Wesley, the weight of the bike is something you need to get use to. Try not turning the bars so sharp and stay off that front brake when you do. Bars will make a little bit of a difference but mostly just getting used to the weight. Unfortunately Harleys just keep getting heavier as you go up the line. Don’t get down on yourself it’s all part of the journey. With some time and practice it won’t feel nearly as heavy. Thanks for watching man!!! Ride safe enjoy the bike it’s a good one👊

      @@TonysGarage Thanks for the tips and for the kind words my man! I have been training a few times a week and I have been getting better with the bike... I still think they are have as hell to do some things, but its getting easier to park!
      Hope you and your family are well

    • @_WesleyBalbino

      @@coach20348I realized that my problem was actually the handlebar! The problem pretty much went away after installing a bigger one (8 inches). But thanks for the tip man!

    Good info Tony!! I have a bad lower back & same height as you. Any thoughts on how they would do?
    Thanks brother

    • @TonysGarage
      @TonysGarage  6 лет назад +1

      +Jim Germata with just 3/4 inch pull back they do bend you at the waist alittle. So you will be leaning forward a bit. Height for me is perfect. My back isn't great but I am very comfortable even on the long days. Hope this helps. Ride safe.

    • @sportglidejim9001
      @sportglidejim9001 6 лет назад +1

      Tony's Garage thanks brother! Really love the looks and my bars are stock, on a 02 883r so it doesn't sound like it would be much of an adjustment. As for the forward stance, that actually helps me take a little weight off my tailbone which seems to help me. Visually they might be a little more narrow which would be fine, I like the flick ability idea as well. The stock bars on my bike have a tracker feel which I like but don't dig the look. No lane splitting in Alabama either....mirrors already flipped😎 thanks again

    hey!
    Im setting everything up to install these bars on my sportster in a couple days, I realized they are not knurled and thats a problem, I didnt understand the audio, you got what from home depot?
    I see you run a wire tuck without a tank lift, looks awesome, you know if its too complicated to be able to disconnect the control cables to run them internally without having to dissasemble all the mess underneath the tank?

    • @TonysGarage
      @TonysGarage  7 лет назад

      +RGimeldo awesome! I used Emery cloth it's like a real fine sandpaper just wrap around the bars and install in the clamp. Getting the cables loose isn't to bad, but the biltwell bars do not come predrilled for internal wiring you have to drill them out yourself. Good luck it's a fun project might have to get creative with your brake cable it's a tight fit.

    • @RGimeldo
      @RGimeldo 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for replying!
      Yeah Im looking for a place to drill them because I think I wont be able to do that myself, I orderer a +3" brake line from Magnum Shielding so I dont have to modify the stock one.
      Im currently waiting for the tank lift+coil and ignition relocation stuff that I orderer from DK Customs, but Im not entirely convinced about doing a wire tuck... I guess I'll come up with something while working on it LOL.
      Thanks for your help bro!

    • @TonysGarage
      @TonysGarage  7 лет назад

      +RGimeldo grab some self fusing tape off Amazon works alot better than black tape much earlier to work with. Makes the wire tuck much easier. Magnum makes great stuff. I would suggest pulling the gas tank completely off so much easier than trying to work around it. Your bike is gonna look bad ass when your done. Happy moddin.

    These bars seems perfect. I like that they are narrow as you mentioned that's the biggest problem with most other bars they look a bit out of place. I'm 6 ft so I'm hoping they'd be a bit more relaxed and won't be as aggressive as you mentioned - how do they compare to the stock bars for you? I'm planning to put fwd's and am trying to determine the best bars for a relaxed but not too relaxed ride.

    • @TonysGarage
      @TonysGarage  5 лет назад +1

      They do ride you forward a little form the lack of pull back. I’m only 5”7 with forwards and found them very comfortable

    I bought a biltwell whiskey throttle and some grips. Quality seems decent, not tickled pink about being made in Taiwan or the the price point they carry based on that. That aside, to commend bitwell on their products, then proceed to explain how the bars arent knurled and the fact it moved on you. That seems contradictory to me. They claim to be some for us, by us business, but they dont have necessary features on their products. Shame....

    • @JL76OH
      @JL76OH 5 лет назад

      turbomunkey this is from Biltwell’s website regarding the lack of knurling...
      “We don’t knurl our bars because doing so reduces the surface area where the handlebar makes contact with the risers, thereby compromising clamping power. Stock and aftermarket steel risers commonly found on cruisers and custom big twins have a material density 4 times greater than aluminum. This density doesn't let knurling bite into the riser material, which in turn compromises clamping strength.”
