If you mean the one from the Kennedy Center, it's a great cover - but Jimi's "All Along The Watchtower" was so good that Bob started covering Jimi's version.
I’m black and grew up listening to all kinds of music-from Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf to Janis Joplin, Beethoven and Freddy Fender. Led Zeppelin was and is my favorite rock band. During high school, I listened to rock and jazz. Of course, my friends listened to “black”music. They called me “white girl” because of my love of rock music 😂😂. The five songs that define Led Zeppelin to me (no particular order) are: (1) Black Dog (2) The Immigrant Song (3) Stairway to Heaven (of course) (4) The Rain Song-who says a hard rock band can’t be “chill”??😁 and (5) MY FAVORITE-Nobody’s Fault But Mine . You couldn’t have picked a better band to start your new format. Great video!!
I'm Latina & my coworkers seemed weirded out that I liked to listen to Led Zeppelin, Beatles, etc instead of Selena & other Tejano singers. I like Tejano too but I couldn't resist the allure of Rock!
I thought those were five pretty good choices. ..But then you said "Nobody's Fault But Mine". You're right that's a tough one to leave out. I literally grew up with this band. I was 18 when John Bonham died. "Fool in the Rain" was genius, and I was really wondering what they were going to do next.
Oh yeah. One of their best. But if you only get 5 and the idea is to show their evolution, I understand skipping it. I have always felt swept away in my soul by the layered strings of "That's the Way" and it's one of my favorites of theirs. And other stuff is good on III. But if you're gonna put one more in, you gotta take one out first. Which one? 😐
Since I've been loving you ,thank you , ten years gone ,i cant quit you , babe im gonna leave you ,ramble on, when the levee breaks , dazed and confused ,bring it on home, no quarter , in my time of dying, the ocean , the rain song , the lemon song , in the evening, the list goes on. I dont think you can define Led Zeppelin with just 5 comercially successful songs.
Yes, I agree @kurules3072 ! There are some other music related channels that I love, but Adam is superb! He is visibly excited about music, knows a TON of facts about songs and bands, does his research, and above all is a really down-to-earth humble personality. I love his stories of his connection to music from his childhood and personal memories. He really taps into the individual impact music has on all of us. I also appreciate that he has such a wide taste in music. It's really cool that he will cover Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, 80s, 90s...even the Carpenters!!!! This is great! Keep it coming, Professor!
I heard for the first time in 69’ as a freshman in high school Led Zeppelin ll and soon found out there was a first album and my life has never been the same ! ❤
ZoSolz8 I can remember the first time hearing Zeppelin II but I already had Zeppelin I on 8 track. (So glad we don't use those anymore) I can remember bringing home LZ II that I bought that day brand new that I bought with some summer job money. Running into my room and putting that vinyl on the turn table and ever so gently placing the needle at the beginning of side 1. What came next was so mind blowing so different and so fucking good that I was immediately transformed into LED-ZEPPELIN junkie. And have been the same way since. That band mentored me through my coming of age and throughout adulthood. They made the good times great and the bad times better. I am who I am because of ZEPPELIN, take that how you may. Seems there's always a song In my head from them that I can travel back to when life wasn't so complicated that brings me joy. Sometimes in a smile and sometimes a tear but it's always joyful.
I like the new concept. You couldn't start any bigger! Led Zeppelin is the greatest band there ever was! I can't give a list of just 5 songs. Just looking at Zep I, in addition to Good Times Bad Times, I'd have to include Dazed and Confused and Communication Breakdown. Moving to Zep II, it's like every song should be included. That's where I gave up. I look forward to your next Evolution video.
As a (retired) medievalist/renaissance scholar the recorders on Stairway plus the fanfare (right before the guitar solo) will never fail to make me ugly baby cry. JPJ added so much depth to Stairway. The recorders are just…heavenly.
Okay, here's my thoughts. I bought their first album when it came out, at 13 years of age...and now, approaching 70...am still floored by the sheer power and intensity of it, from the first notes of the opening track through the last note of the final track. It MUST be listened to in its ENTIRETY...which is the way we all listened to albums then. Mindblowing then...mindblowing now. Then, along came 'Whole Lotta Love". I can still remember hearing it that first time after buying Led Zeppelin II the day it came out. A life-changing experience. You have to understand...we'd never heard anything like that. Not even close. The most badass song to ever come along. Again, listen to the WHOLE album in one sitting...essential. Then, in the early 70s, I started going to their concerts, at least three times in Houston that I can remember...if you know what I mean. And then there's Led Zeppelin III with its rotating album cover. "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Gallow's Pole" and all the rest were the soundtrack of my life, and the girls I loved. Hearing thosr songs now takes me right back to the exact time and places of being that teenage boy with his first motorcycle and first deep and exciting loves. A beautiful thing. I could go on and on about their later (great) albums, and I feel pretty qualified to call myself a top-tier original Led Zeppelin fan (they have always been my favorite band)...but trust me...nothing...and I mean NOTHING...beats that first album. Pure nuclear energy, start to finish. A tour-de-force that changed everyting.
Trampled Under Foot, All of My Love, Over the Hills and Far Away, and Heartbreaker. Heartbreaker in particular, with its guitar solo breakdown, is still mind-blowing to me and influenced so many future guitarists.
1. 10 yrs gone 2. Kashmir 3. Rain Song 4. Since I've been Loving you 5. Stairway to Heaven Of course, this is too short a list to do justice to the band's brilliance
Since I’ve been loving you is definitely one of my favorites. I can listen to it a million times and still feel the raw emotion of that song like its the first time. And Pages solo on it is just God tier.
I have all the Led Zeppelin albums, all on vinyl, and only played to record onto cassette. Of course, one of my favorite bands. Keep them coming Professor.
I have them all on vinyl too. They have all been played so much I know where the skips are. When I hear the songs on the radio I wait for those skips lol.
@@bikeman123 not me. I’ve listened to every bootleg out there. I know Led Zeppelin forwards and backwards.✌🏼 been my favorite band for 50 years without a close second
Oh yes, definitely love this series. Starting from the rock of all rock bands that pioneered combining rock, blues, reggae, bluegrass and jazz to become the blueprint of rock that is followed by almost all bands since then.
One of the best things about rock’s greatest band is that they never repeated themselves. every album is different and every song is different. phenomenal in the studio and phenomenal live. They were the best rock band and remain so.
I remember when In Through the Out Door came out, the Zep fans that I knew were not happy with it... But I dug the mystique of "All My Love", and "Fool in the Rain" just had such a cool vibe to it... and "Carouselambra" was a rocker... All good with me!
The two songs you just mentioned are amazing!!! I don't know why some people don't like to hear something different. A lot of metalheads & rap people only want to listen to the same stuff. Even Kiss fans hate "Beth," even though it's one of the sweetest ballads with amazing strings. I love diversity. 😎
From a lifelong Zeppelin fan, thank you. I wholeheartedly agree with every song you've chosen here. What a brilliant episode and a great concept. I can't wait to hear more of these. You rock, Professor!
Thank you for the memories with my oldest brother! May he RIP!❤❤❤ I won't pick any I like the best, because all their songs bring memories of my brother.❤❤❤
I am sorry for the sadness and death of your brother. But, it is also hard to pick a Zeppelin song. There was an ad once for Lays Potato Chips. The tag line was You Can't Eat Just One.
@@DianeLake-sw3ym it's not sad he has been gone 32 years now and he is at peace, which he didn't have with life. He was tormented by his demons. That is what was 😢!
I LOVE THIS!!!! This is definitely one of my favorite bands EVER!!!! Still the most bad ass and strongest opening track from an album, and introductory song from any band ever!!!! SOOOO AMAZING!!!! Absolutely LEGENDARY!!!! 😳🙏💙 Great new series!!! Looking forward to see what other ones you guys cook up over the next few weeks, for sure!!! 💪😎🙌😁👍
The complete Garden show from 2/12/75 is available to download on the internet. The bootleg is called That’s alright New York. The sound quality is so good it can almost pass as an official release.
Thanks for this episode, Professor. Led Zeppelin is such a great band, it’s tough to choose just five! But, you did a great job! Led Zeppelin is the band I RUclips the most, even though I have their stuff on CD.
You got the iconic five pretty much. So hard to limit it to just five. Here are my personal five favorites: 1. Dazed And Confused 2. Heartbreaker 3. No Quarter 4. In My Time Of Dying 5. I'm Gonna Crawl
Love IGC. Would make a decent alternate closer vs. FITR. And D&C was my guess from the first album, because it feels the most iconic. But GTBT is acceptable. 😎 Heartbreaker... I need to do a whole video on that song, because it's incredibly great.
Your taste in Led Zep matches mine except I'm Going to Crawl. I don't remember ever listening to the cut but I will go check it out now because your taste in Led Zep is excellent. Thanks for the tip. Peace out.
Great video. I was putting min together at the start of the video. My list of 5 songs that showed the evolution of Led Zeppelin is: 1) dazed and confused. 2) whole lotta love 3) stairway to heaven 4) the rain song 5) Kashmir
Hi! I have now listened to a dozen of your videos now. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. And it just dawned on me: You are the best music man I have listened to since Casey Casem. I lovr hearing the history integrated behind the hits and bands. But you are not only a specialist fluent in the history of rock; you are an excellent communicator, and so easy to listen to. And you can’t deliver like this without a passion for the subject. Ha: I am reminded if Casey Casem; but also the Phillip Seymour Hoffman character “Lester Bangs” in Almost Famous; and the music shop staff in High Fidelity. Thank you for being a music critic, classic rock afficionado, D.J., 70’s and 80’s music historian. “I’ve been listening to your show on the radio, and you feel like a friend to me.” (Pilot of the Airwaves. There are many ways this should be cringeworthy; but I remember the first time I heard this song, and it was instant love. The opening and closing harmony. Had to learn it and sing along every time. The rainbow suspenders are forgivable.). Thanks for your channel.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I know that it used to be overplayed, but Stairway on a great stereo or headphones still produces goosebumps. Subsequent episodes could go in a million different directions. Would love to see Chicago, Eagles, or Pink Floyd at some point.
Myself as well as my friends recognized quickly that this was a TOP TIERED BAND. And the Band didn’t let up…..just got better with time. I’m so so so glad I got to see them live! 😃 👍
Zep is definitely the epitome of rock music. My top 5: 1) The Rain Song 2) Going to California 3) The Song Remains the Same 4) Babe Im Gonna Leave You 5) Kashmir
Thank you so much for featuring "Good Times Bad Times" as the first song in this video. From its release on January 12, 1969, rock music was changed forever. Probably the most underrated Led Zeppelin song in the catalog.
THE MOODY BLUES! The Story in Your Eyes, I'm Just a Singer in a Rock n Roll Band, Ride My See-Saw, Question, Nights in White Satin. Justin Hayward is the most underrated musical genius of the Rock Era.
I was at a Who concert in Seattle sometime in the mid to late 70s. The band was quite late and the crowd was getting very ugly...until Kashmir blasted out over the PA system. The calming effect on the crowd was immediate and AMAZING! It was like the whole crowd took a toke and chilled out. That illustration of how powerful music can be has stuck with me all these years. Congratulations on Evolution! A perfect band to start with, and a great 5 songs. Personally, I would have picked Four Sticks over Stairway to Heaven, but I get why you chose it. Keep up the good work, and I hope you feel better soon. 🎶 🥰🎶
What a great concept for a series, Professor. These will be incredible 25-minute snapshots of the most influential bands of the last 60+ years. I can only imagine the amount of preproduction and research that has to go into each of these episodes. For bands like Zeppelin, Beatles, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd it’s a nearly impossible task to distill what, in some cases, is 50 years of creativity and genius. I absolutely cannot wait to see where this series takes you next. Thank you for keeping the music alive!
My particular favorites from their albums. 1) Good Times Bad Times from zep 1 2) Ramble On from zep 2 3) When the Levee Breaks , zep 4 4) Ten Years Gone , Physical Graffiti 5) Achilles Last Stand from Presence
really appreciated this - never knew these were Led Zeppelin because they were so different and now I know why. I must admit this has begun a new appreciation for them and their goals. long story short the kids who listened to Zeppelin in my school mercilessly bullied me so I hated the band by name only never listening to them till I met my husband who along with this commentary has led me to try to disassociate those painful years from a remarkable artistic journey.
Wonderful new series. My favorite Led Zeppelin song will always be "10 Years Gone" but I love all of the ones you highlighted here and find no reason to disagree with your selections. Now, I'll patiently wait for you to get around to my favorite band of all time - U2 😁 I'd love to see which 5 songs you come up with although I'm going to cry foul if it doesn't start with "I Will Follow."
This is going to be a great series, and no better band to start it off! Within your stated parameters, I think you totally nailed it with the 5 songs you picked. Bravo!
When talking about the five songs that define Led Zeppelin, I'd agree with you on the first four, and think you're spot on, but I think number five has to be "All My Love". Even though "Fool in the Rain" was innovative in its way, "All My Love" was the bigger hit worldwide and is really the "Stairway" for their second act: everybody knows this song. Also, considering the personal pain of Plant at the time (dedicated to his late son Karak), and the personal demons facing Page and Bonham, it's a bit of a miracle this song came together and was a triumph. Definitely one of Plant's best lyrics, and the arrangement by Jones and Page's solo are probably the high watermark of Zeppelin from '76-'80. My personal five favorites are a different story, but I think these five define the band. Good luck with the new segment, and also, don't forget to do a segment on ELP's Brain Salad Surgery. It just celebrated its 50th anniversary and is one of the top albums of the '70s (not to mention the slick HR Giger cover). Have a great day! - Dave
Hi Dave, Wikipedia does not list any singles chart statistics for "All My Love." What do you base your claim of "bigger hit worldwide" on? Aside from maybe that, great assessment! I played ELP on the radio, too. Have a great day!
That's a great point, Shiroi. I heard it a bunch on the radio as a six year-old in New York in 1979 (many years before I ever heard "Fool in the Rain"), but you're right that it was never released as a single. My mistake! Enjoy the day!@@shiroibasketshoes
@@shiroibasketshoesaccording to a billboard ranking of led Zeppelin songs, all of my love is number 12. If you want to look at it as the person you're replying to did as the defining moment of the next portion of their career I would say ranking it number 12 qualifies
@@AldousHuxleysCat I'm sure Billboard did not miswrite the title as "All Of My Love." What was the name of that chart? You mean Billboard was ranking Led Zeppelin according to what factor(s)? I doubt they wrote "defining moment of the next portion of their career" under that chart; it was their last studio album except for the remaining tracks roundup "Coda."
@@shiroibasketshoes since that's what plant sings That's what I call the song, I'm so sorry you find that offensive and apparently are unable to read English in such a way to understand what I meant when I said I was agreeing with the person you were responding to about it being a defining moment of their later career. I don't see how you can say it wasn't Billboard ranked the entire led Zeppelin catalog based money earned. I would share the link but in all honesty you're such an ass I wouldn't do anything nice for you, find it yourself it only took me one Google search
I like this new series idea...a concise retrospective that truly gets to the heart of each band's beginning, middle, and end, and gives newcomers a great way to dig in. I basically agreed with your Zep assessments (I thought Dazed and Confused to start, but thats technically a cover left over from the Yardbirds days-so Good Times Bad Times is right), however, I would pick All of My Love as their swan song pick-its the hit single that would bookend those 3 epic songs in the middle-great keyboard solo from Jones...I would do the other essential English bands next...Stones, Beatles, Floyd, The Who, Sabbath...then The Doors, Hendrix, Simon and Garfunkel, etc
Love this list and I can’t say that you went wrong with any of your choices. I would replace two but it’s just a personal preference. My five are: 1. Good Times Bad Times 2. Ramble On 3. Stairway To Heaven 4. Kashmir 5. In the Evening
This series is a fine idea! The founding selection, has done it for me, your knowledge, insight, & crafting of the subject matter featuring the musical 'God's' wot made made it, ticks all the boxes for us dedicated fans of the channel, and those that have the good fortune to be viewing your catalogue in the future, perhaps because of this 'brainwave that has your own unique talent etched all over it. My first write-up despite being a fan & viewer for nearly a decade now. Enough 'smoke-blowing' from me, (I think!) please continue creating this fine stuff! VBW x
@@dookiehowser1162 hey man listen if you think all their songs were 💯 % awesome then by all means, do you. As a fan, i can honestly say that tho they had a lot of amazing songs i am not blind to know there were some that didn’t meet expectations, that i would skip, to me personally. I mean even they themselves knew they had some bad ones they didn’t like.
It got old for me pretty quickly. The driving riff is absolutely iconic and atmospheric! Greatness. The lyrics are interesting. But as a song, I just didn't need any more hearings after the first few. I would have picked Ten Years Gone if this were just a list of the songs that meant the most to me. But I have to agree with Kashmir for this list.
Picking 5 songs is no easy feat! Strangely enough, the Zep album I keep going back to over and over is Zep 3. Not sure why, but that album connects with me deeply. Would’ve been cool to see something off that make the list but I know those songs aren’t as iconic for everyone as they are for me. Great job!
Dazed and Confused Ramble On Nobody's Fault But Mine Battle Of Evermore In My Time Of Dying. Those are my picks for the top 5 Led Zeppelin songs. This is gonna be a fire series Professor. There are so many bands that could have an episode done on them. Keep 'em coming!
My top 5 of my favorite rock band ever (personal): 1) No Quarter, 2) In my time of dying, 3) Rumble On, 4) Trampled Under Foot, 5) What Is and What Should Never Be
And from the "go big or go home" department... "On this show we tell the story of a band's career through 5 defining tracks..." Nicely done, Professor! 😍😍😍
First album I ever bought when I was about 10 years old was Houses of the Holy... the naked girls on the cover made my step mother burn it in the furnace and I went back twice to repurchase the album until she gave up and let me keep the 3rd copy. Been a die hard Zephead ever since. Great selection of 5 songs... too short of a list but this series is great content. Keep up the awesome work.
Whole Lotta Love is my favorite Led Zep song. I was a senior in high school learning on my first guitar. Stairway To Heaven and Black Dog could each be my 2nd faves. I'm 72 now and sing and play at open mics.
In the Evening was the only song I really liked a lot from the last album. It had the most Zep Vibe and Power. Great concept Professor . Looking forward to more like this.
@matthewcoombs3282 The music to Whole Lotta Love has nothing to do with Willie Dixon, while literally just a couple of seconds "woman you need it" were taken from The Small Faces. Jimmy's riff is Jimmy's. It's not a Dixon riff. Anyone can do an instrumental cover of Whole Lotta Love and they wouldn't have to credit Dixon because only some lyrics were taken from him. Dont exaggerate.
Great idea, Professor! I'll go with: 1) Good Times Bad Times 2) Misty Mountain Hop 3) Over The Hills And Far Away 4) Dancin Days 5) Fool In The Rain (YMMV) 😇
Great idea for a new show, Prof. I'll be eagerly anticipating your breakdown of The Beatles evolution. Other bands I can think of that would be awesome to do are Genesis, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Boston and Pat Benatar. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada🍁
If I wanted to introduce a grandchild to Led Zeppelin this is the playlist I would make: 1. The Rain Song (my favorite). 2. Stairway to Heaven. 3. Immigrant Song. 4. Black Dog. 5 Kashmir. 6. Whole Lot of Love. 7. Going to California. 8. Rock and Roll. 9. All of My Love. 10. Over the Hills & Far Away.
Would like to see a great tight band called Lynyrd Skynyrd done next. When you dig even deep into their catalog, their musical genius is startling...not just their hits. They stand up to the test of time.
You got me Adam. This new Evolution format is so good I had to Like and Subscribe! But as someone who is the youngest of 6 kids and who's dad was an audiophile, I grew up listening to rock 'n roll from the it's beginning. My first memories of listening to music is of my sisters putting a stack of 45's by Chuck Berry, Elvis etc, on the record player and dancing to them. So by the time Led Zeppelin's first album was released during my freshman year of high school I had already started my own record collection starting with "Are You Experienced" by Jimi Hendrix in 1967, just to show you where my tastes were. And by this time nobody I knew was buying 45's you bought the album. In fact this is the first time I even knew there was a single from this record:) I first heard this record at my sisters house and I remember thinking that it was a really good blues record by an amazing band until 'Communication Breakdown' came on, and then... whoa this is something else! It's such an uptempo, concise piece of music, just announcing we are here and we're ready to kick ass! And the thing that I never hear or read about when people talk about Led Zeppelin is the production on every album of one Jimmy Page. The way he builds this song to an F_in climax and then release at the end is just pure genius! The pause at 1:24 in just before his blistering solo is so awesome but to come back in with a drum hit and start soloing on the upbeat is INSANE! And this is when I knew that Led Zeppelin was going to be a force to be reckoned with. Can't argue about any of your other 4 picks though. But let's take this a step further and say that if you had one song only, to tell somebody to listen to, that tells them all about your favorite band or artist, what would it be? I think for Led Zeppelin, it would have to be Stairway To Heaven. Prove me wrong. :) Thanks Adam, can't wait for the next episode.
Professor, love this format, I mean 5 defining songs that show growth and sound of a band strikes right at the core of exactly what makes folks fall in love with an artist or group. Springsteen would be a good follow up as would The Beatles, definitely looking forward to your next artists music story. Thank you, you rock as well.
Have to say, they've always been my #1 rock band and I can't imagine anything ever beating them out of that spot. They were so revolutionary, they were the first to do what they did, and everyone learned from them. I'll always be a "Led Head". 💜👍😎💃💜

Listen to the song by Queen "Get Down Make Love" I heard that on the radio as a kid! But yes @ezsmith3765, my brother and I were under 10 and laughing at that line by Led Zeppelin as well!
Great episode! Within the first couple of minutes I had already comprised my list of 5 defining Led Zeppelin songs in my head based on the criteria you layed out. My list turned out to be identical to yours until the last song. My list had "All Of My Love" as the final song from the same album instead of "Fool In The Rain". But I can't argue with your pick. It's basically a coin toss for me. I love the details you go into. It's always very educational and interesting.

This series promises to be one of YT's best not only by a music vlogger/channel, but in the whole history of YT as well! A work of genius, Prof.
Wow, thank you!
💯
I heard for the first time in 69’ as a freshman in high school
Led Zeppelin ll and soon found out there was a first album and my life has never been the same !
Mine was III. I heard Immigrant Song, but I was floored by the rest of the album.
“Stairway to Heaven”
“Immigrant Song”
“Kashmir”
“Whole Lotta Love”
“Good Times Bad Times”

Trampled Under Foot, All of My Love, Over the Hills and Far Away, and Heartbreaker. Heartbreaker in particular, with its guitar solo breakdown, is still mind-blowing to me and influenced so many future guitarists.
Nailed it! The opening chords to Good Times Bad Times are literally Zep knocking on the door.
Yes, the In door, not the Out door. ;-)
More like kicking the door off it's freaking hinges.
1. How Many More Times
2. Whole Lotta Love
3. Stairway to Heaven
4. Achillies Last Stand
5. Nobody's Fault But Mine
1. 10 yrs gone
2. Kashmir
3. Rain Song
4. Since I've been Loving you
5. Stairway to Heaven
Of course, this is too short a list to do justice to the band's brilliance
You have good taste. I would add tea for one to that list
1) Since I ve been loving you.
2) Stairway to Heaven.
3) The Rain Song.
4) No Quarter.
5) Kashmir.
Good list!
How about all nine views of the In Thorough, the Outdoor covers, and a colorized sleeve by adding some water?
I have them all on vinyl too. They have all been played so much I know where the skips are. When I hear the songs on the radio I wait for those skips lol.
Then you have missed out on the subtleties of their music.
@@bikeman123 not me. I’ve listened to every bootleg out there. I know Led Zeppelin forwards and backwards.✌🏼 been my favorite band for 50 years without a close second
Love, love, love this format!
Starting with ZEP; crazy.
Keep on keepin on ❤️✌️🤓👍
Oh yes, definitely love this series. Starting from the rock of all rock bands that pioneered combining rock, blues, reggae, bluegrass and jazz to become the blueprint of rock that is followed by almost all bands since then.
This was such an excellent idea for a series.
I love ITTOD. It 's a great album and a taste of what might have been if they had gone on into the 80s
Thanks Flave! Good call!
So true. Wonder what would've been next!
Amen!
From a lifelong Zeppelin fan, thank you. I wholeheartedly agree with every song you've chosen here. What a brilliant episode and a great concept. I can't wait to hear more of these. You rock, Professor!
Wow, just wow! Your gift of describing exactly how these songs impacted the listeners is on spot! Thanks for covering my favorite band.
I’m sorry for your loss, Cherrie
Please don't be sorry he has been gone 32 years!
I appreciate the respect for 'Fool in the Rain'. It stands out in my memory of that era of music for the playful energy of it.
1. Dazed and Confused 2. Ramble On 3. Black Dog 4. Over the Hills and Far Away 5. Achilles Last Stand
Nice 👍
I LOVE THIS!!!! This is definitely one of my favorite bands EVER!!!! Still the most bad ass and strongest opening track from an album, and introductory song from any band ever!!!! SOOOO AMAZING!!!! Absolutely LEGENDARY!!!! 😳🙏💙
Great new series!!! Looking forward to see what other ones you guys cook up over the next few weeks, for sure!!! 💪😎🙌😁👍
First time I heard Kashmir was at Madison Square Garden Feb 1975 If you never heard it live there are no words, drums were unbelievable
The complete Garden show from 2/12/75 is available to download on the internet. The bootleg is called That’s alright New York. The sound quality is so good it can almost pass as an official release.
Ok here’s my 5
1. Dazed and Confused
2. Whole Lotta Love
3. Stairway
4. The Rain Song
5. Kashmir
Great concept Professor!
Awesome idea Prof!!! Can’t wait for The Rush episode of this 🤘

@@ProfessorofRockheh let me know if you need help with picking only 5 Rush songs out of 40+ years🤣🤣🤣
1) The Rain Song, 2) Ten Years Gone and 3) In my time of Dying are my 3 favorite Zep songs.
Here are my personal five favorites:
1. Dazed And Confused
2. Heartbreaker
3. No Quarter
4. In My Time Of Dying
5. I'm Gonna Crawl
Great choices my friend.
I'm Gonna Crawl is my #1!
Love IGC. Would make a decent alternate closer vs. FITR. And D&C was my guess from the first album, because it feels the most iconic. But GTBT is acceptable. 😎
Heartbreaker... I need to do a whole video on that song, because it's incredibly great.
Your taste in Led Zep matches mine except I'm Going to Crawl. I don't remember ever listening to the cut but I will go check it out now because your taste in Led Zep is excellent. Thanks for the tip. Peace out.
@@Silverstreak1985 Never heard it before, but listened because of your comment. Glad that I did!
Great video. I was putting min together at the start of the video. My list of 5 songs that showed the evolution of Led Zeppelin is:
1) dazed and confused.
2) whole lotta love
3) stairway to heaven
4) the rain song
5) Kashmir
Rain Song - Absolutely!
This will be a great series! How about spotlighting Heart? They changed a lot over their career and always kept things fresh and new.
Hi! I have now listened to a dozen of your videos now. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. And it just dawned on me:
You are the best music man I have listened to since Casey Casem.
My top 5:
1) The Rain Song
2) Going to California
3) The Song Remains the Same
4) Babe Im Gonna Leave You
5) Kashmir
Babe im gonna ball you is good
Heartbreaker???
Hammer of the gods!! The mighty Zepp!! ❤
YEs!
The Lords of Rock.
1. Whole Lotta Love
2. Immigrant Song
3. Living Loving Maid
4. Stairway
5. The Ocean
This is an impossible task. Phenomenal idea Professor!
Nice job, Professor. Been a Zeppelin fan since I discovered them at age 17. These five are a great way to introduce a non-fan to LZ.
1) Good Times Bad Times from zep 1
2) Ramble On from zep 2
3) When the Levee Breaks , zep 4
4) Ten Years Gone , Physical Graffiti
5) Achilles Last Stand from Presence
really appreciated this - never knew these were Led Zeppelin because they were so different and now I know why.
Ten Years Gone and Ramble On are my favorites.
This is going to be a great series, and no better band to start it off!
Within your stated parameters, I think you totally nailed it with the 5 songs you picked.
Bravo!
1)dazed & confused
2) ramble on
3) when the levee breaks
4) 10 years Gone
5) Achilles last stand
An alternative selection 🙃
Ten Years Gone is among their absolute best. Everytime that guitar lick kicks in, it hits me un the gut every time
I was 15 when this came out and I was hooked! This was the album I discovered them with.
I don't see how you can say it wasn't
Billboard ranked the entire led Zeppelin catalog based money earned. I would share the link but in all honesty you're such an ass I wouldn't do anything nice for you, find it yourself it only took me one Google search
Love the new format! This is wonderful insight!
How about the Police or Rush?
The song Fool in the Rain is still one of my favorite songs, along with Whole Lotta Love. Great selection of 5 songs.
Love this list and I can’t say that you went wrong with any of your choices. I would replace two but it’s just a personal preference. My five are:
1. Good Times Bad Times
2. Ramble On
3. Stairway To Heaven
4. Kashmir
My hands down favorite Led Zeppelin song is Kashmir ❤ I love the beat and the far off adventure sound of it 😊. Its just masterful
I agree. So EPIC!
It’s a powerful song.
My all-time favorite song!
Best song!!!
Great job!
Dazed and Confused
Ramble On
Nobody's Fault But Mine
Battle Of Evermore
In My Time Of Dying.
Those are my picks for the top 5 Led Zeppelin songs. This is gonna be a fire series Professor. There are so many bands that could have an episode done on them. Keep 'em coming!

The Battle Of Evermore
It's probably one of my favourites. 😃

1. Rain Song
2. Since I've Been Loving You
3. Achilles Last Stand
4. Ten Years Gone
5. Thats the way (Tangerine)
I thought that was just my mom !!!
It was Plant’s kids, a boy and girl.
Whole Lotta Love is my favorite Led Zep song. I was a senior in high school learning on my first guitar. Stairway To Heaven and Black Dog could each be my 2nd faves. I'm 72 now and sing and play at open mics.
One of my favorite bands, keep up the history lessons
In the Evening was the only song I really liked a lot from the last album. It had the most Zep Vibe and Power.
Great concept Professor .
Looking forward to more like this.
Back in the day, the UK had a show called Top of the Pops.
Led Zeppelin wrote "Whole Lotta Love" and the intro was used as TotPs theme tune.
That song was written by Muddy Waters and the arrangement copied from the Small Faces. As much as I love Zep they should acknowledge their sources.
I was going to mention A Whole Lotta Love and Top of the Pops. It was THE show to get on, I miss it. A Whole Lotta Love was the theme tune for years.
@matthewcoombs3282
The music to Whole Lotta Love has nothing to do with Willie Dixon, while literally just a couple of seconds "woman you need it" were taken from The Small Faces.
I'll go with:
1) Good Times Bad Times
2) Misty Mountain Hop
3) Over The Hills And Far Away
4) Dancin Days
5) Fool In The Rain
(YMMV) 😇
Great idea for a new show, Prof. I'll be eagerly anticipating your breakdown of The Beatles evolution. Other bands I can think of that would be awesome to do are Genesis, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Boston and Pat Benatar. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada🍁

My favourite Skynyrd song is on their last album. One More Time.

In fact this is the first time I even knew there was a single from this record:)
I first heard this record at my sisters house and I remember thinking that it was a really good blues record by an amazing band until 'Communication Breakdown' came on, and then... whoa this is something else!
Thanks Adam, can't wait for the next episode.
Cool! I'm liking this new show idea!
Professor, love this format, I mean 5 defining songs that show growth and sound of a band strikes right at the core of exactly what makes folks fall in love with an artist or group.

It always hits me in the feels.
So many hits with Zep. Too many stallar memories to count
