I'll answer why Nayeon was crying.
2019 was a horrible year for Twice.
1. The year began with Mina suffering a leg injury which was noticed at the airport on their way back from Japan promos. This culminated in her pushing through their world tour and by July of that year, she had to take a hiatus due to performance anxiety. She also had a stalker incident when someone went to her home with her parents there in Japan. She also received death threats in 2017 (unrelated)
2. At the same time, Japan and Korea was going through extreme political tension with an all-Japanese goods boycott in Korea and netizens telling Japanese idols leave. Sana was stuck in the middle of this as she made an IG post in which she acknowledged the change of emperors in Japan (poor timing) and was severely scrutinized by the public for it. She was completely depressed and did not smile for a long period of time.
3. Jihyo was embroiled in 3 scandals and 1 major incident. The first being the "Burning Sun Scandal", a prostitution racket that was run by one of Big Bang's members (Seungri) she was alledged to have been named as one of the victims with videos of explicit acts although this was later debunked. Secondly, Dispatch revealed her relationship with Daniel Kang and this caused a lot of hate and controversy unfortunately as dating is super touchy. Finally, Twice was mobbed at the airport during a return to Korea and overzealous fans overran security and she tripped on one of them and fell. This led to footage of her being visibly shaken and signs of having a mental breakdown immediately afterwards trying to exit in a van. Later she went into their Vlive Chat to address some issues and another scandal brewed as she and fans or antifans began having an argument online that was made public for having questionable language.
4. Nayeon had a case of an extreme stalker. One who posted regularly to twitter and youtube about his actions and whereabouts, frequenting places whre he saw her on her vlives and making threats such as "If you are dating someone and I find about it I will "end" you". This grew to a boiling point when during a flight from Japan, the stalker intentionally purchased plane tickets and tried to overrun security and get to Nayeon on the airplane. The stalker later hackd and leaked Chaeyoung's private phone number to the public. He still posts on youtube to this day with shocking impunity.
5. Dahyun had an incident at immigration where an immigration officer controversially flipped her passport to the crowd of fans, papparazi, and the like for unprofessional reasons. Her ID# and other details were made public.
This all happened in 2019. So, the context to the anecdote you refer to "why is Nayeon is crying" was during the end of the year awards. TXT's lyrics of everyone else being happy but me, it being harder to laugh than cry, running away" 2019 hit Twice extremely hard. They had been relatively clean and wildly successful for several years and now they were facing the opposite reality.
