    I would love to see how much power the stock brushless motor makes with higher voltage. Imagine a set of LIPO batteries connected to the motor through an aftermarket speed controller(hobby or small EV grade), these motors are built to last, I’m pretty sure it can make way more power.

    This is great! On the conclusions, I would say that we might not be seeing a more powerful 1/2 in impact intentionally for reliability concerns. They don't want a mechanical point of failure, so there's a safety margin on the drive system. Sure, that impact can handle a few ~1000 ft-lb runs, but can it do it every day for several years?

      Agree, and how much half inch power do we need that we cant get from the 3/4" XGT with a 1/2" adapter. I keep the 1/2" adapter on mine whenever its in its box, just in case. Got the XGT midtorque and compact as well, not likely that the 3/4" to 1/2" adapter will ever be used for actual work but at least its always nearby the big guy.

      Ever since I witnessed what a small brushless motor could do on a RC car, compared to the nitromethane engines, I never really rooted for gas anymore.
      Disregarding "range", or battery life, there's nothing a combustion engine can do that a powerful enough Electric motor can't, at a higher efficiency. There's a reason ALL trains use either pure electric, or diesel electric series hybrid. Electric motors are just better, at basically everything.

    I think it could be a fuel related issue with all that vibration... I can't imagine that carb having a easy time or even the float...

    • @smpstech
      @smpstech 2 года назад +12

      I'm thinking either the float is sticking or not liking the vibration, or it just flat out can't feed enough fuel at WOT. Before I sent it off, the float kept sticking on me and when I took the needle and seat out to inspect it, I noticed the orifice in the seat that the fuel actually flows through was only about .050". Couple that with a gravity feed fuel system that only has a capacity of about 1/3 gallon and is 2 inches above the carb, there isn't a real strong flow of fuel.

    • @Hansengineering
      @Hansengineering 2 года назад +1

    The change to electric will come naturally for the right applications: Small lawn = EV lawnmower is enough. Big lawn = gas- powered lawnmowers with harder noise restrictions should be allowed.
    Today most small construction equipment is already battery- powered because its just better. No need for harder laws.
    Also if big power outtages werent so frequently not as many gas- powered generators would be needed...
