Sabbat's 1st two albums are seriously underated thrash classics
Andy needs so much respect. the Guy is the Best Engineer in the Metal game and Shreds on the Priest Tour. My Hats to you Andy, Thanks for all you do for Metal.
Whoa! Sneap?! Wow! I'm pumped for this one
I remember putting Dead Heart in a Dead World album on and going straight to the booklet to find who the producer was. What a masterful release that was.
Great Nevermore mention!
Truly metal royalty. Sabbat blows my mind whenever I hear them. Not to mention all the crazy albums he's produced.
I used to knock around the same circles in Nottingham as Andy back in his Sabbat days and he's a super nice guy, very down to earth, talented and friendly. Glad to see he's done so well for himself, he definately gives Lemmy (RIP) and Dave Grohl a run for their money as 'nicest guy in rock'. #NottinghamRockCity !!!
Brilliant stuff here. I was a huge kollector of Kerrang magazine- albeit in the mid -late 90s. I loved hearing Andy here talk about looking though the magazines pages in '86 learning about Master of Puppets, and what was going on in metal at the time. Brilliant conversation back an' forth. Saw Andy with Priest at Bloodstock two years ago. He was excellent, respectfully playing in Glen's place. Cool guy, great podcast here. The whole section whereby Andy related the story about the Hell reformation and his reflections on losing his friend like that at such a young age was very engaging. Like being around a table in a bar listening in to them.
Thanks robb for a brilliant interview, I was a couple of years older than Andy, we went to the same school (Mortimer Wilson comp) it's been so amazing watching his career as a producer progress, I'm so proud of what he has achieved. I used to watch those early hell gigs so was great to hear those stories and talking to you about that time seemed pretty cathartic for him, so good on ya, I saw priest headline bloodstock in 2018. It was so cool to see Glenn come out for the last three songs.it really was like watching music therapy in action, by the end of the encore Glenn was throwing the shapes, nailing the solos, I had tears rolling down my face, awesome. Tell Andy he still owes me for the painting I did on his denim jacket when he was about 13 lol🤣🤣🤣from endo, he'll know who 🤣🤣🤣🤣
he doesnt remember you. he just told me.
@@williamboyle8918 why would he, it was over 35 years ago
I love how casually he drops that the new Fear Factory album will be finished next week
Wow this was probably one of the more interesting podcasts I've seen in a good while - and was totally worth it. Thanks Rob and Andy for letting us all have such a great insight into your experiences! And at times this was a pretty exposing and raw , but well held chat.
Andy - just a massive thank you for the work you've put into the mixing and production of some of the finest albums ever, no words can describe how much those albums mean to me, what they got me through, what they've done in inspiring my own guitar playing, and it was incredible to hear what you've been through to get them out - and the efforts and the adventures that have come from that. Keep on - and well bloody done on the recent Judas Priest stuff. I actually had no idea - but this has really given me a bit of a kick up the backside to check out the latest stuff by Priest and yourself. Thanks!!
Rob - I saw machine head twice when I was a teenager, Birmingham and Cardiff - probably about 2003. The first gig was the best out of the two - but I absolutely loved both. It was killer.
In particular, the Birmingham gig was totally the most rock and roll for me in terms of the adventure....me and my friend were on the way on the train from West Wales, so about 4 / 5 hours travelling on public transport.....but didn't know what the hell we were doing - I was 16 , she was 14, and we got there mega late because we missed a stop to change trains - so we didn't have time to actually get a hotel or we'd miss the gig, and any hotel we found on the way was fully booked. So - we were potentially going to be sleeping at the train station that night, but luckily, I phoned my older brother (13 yrs older than me) for some advice on what to do. Much to my surprise and by complete coincidence, he had a gig that night in Birmingham with his band. (The Baghdaddies, check em out - they're pretty damn good, and have been gigging since the 90s, but not metal). They are from Newcastle, so we were all in the middle of the country at the same time - totally random. It was totally mad. He really came to the rescue there!
Anyway, me and my friend had such a blast at your gig, and then had to somehow find my brother at a later gig after, we went to a mad after party, had managed to get a hotel room for free, and there were all sorts of shenanigans, and one of the worst hangovers imaginable the following day. It was one of the most rock n roll nights I've ever had.
Keep on with this podcast Rob - it's really great to get to hear more from you and your friends - stay metal too, we need to hear more of your music - keep that flame alive. Peace and love brother! x \m/ x
Best Sneap interview! Thanks for that!
Great interview! I love how informal it was. Just two buddies shooting the breeze.
I say Andy Sneap live in his band Sabbat at The Whiskey in Hollywood, 2008. And got a selfie with him. Andy Sneap is AWESOME!
Andy Sneap is a true legend !!
Saw sabbat at woughton pitz, in Milton Keynes, waaaay back, .
Amazing how much stuff Andy's been and done since...
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks so much for this Rob! Great stuff!!
What a down to earth bloke . Big respect to Andy sneap .
The production on the last 2 Saxon albums Thunderbolt and Battering Ram are fucking Immense.
Can't wait for this one! Awesome!!! 🤘🍺😎 Cheers Bardo (that's how your wife call you right 🤣🤣🤣)
Sneap is an amazing and humble guy, really really enjoyed this!
Much respect for Andy Sneap! 🤘
Loved sneaps work ever since i heard sabbat's dreamweaver album.
Great conversation between you guys, saw sabbat in Newport and Cardiff, and priest countless times. Great times.
Thank you very much for this great and detailed interview ! Really cool stuff to hear and I enjoyed this a lot !
Another Friday morning before work and another No Fucking Regrets podcast. And I'll be getting off work around the time you will be doing the Friday Night Acoustic Happy Hour. Thank you SO much Robb. You really help me get through the boring and mundane work week. Cheers! 🤘🤘
That was a great fucking interview, congrats. Big respect to Andy Sneap 🙏
Andy seems like a really cool guy. Great interview Robb!!
Great one again Robb. Andy Sneap is an OG metalhead and thrasher. And cut across so many different sub-genres
Thanks Rob from the bottom of my heart. This podcast is really great. I would love to see interviews with Phil and Rex (Pantera), Scott Ian, Jason Newsted ....
Fat chance of Robb ever wanting anything to do with Phil after his statement in the media a few years back
Great interview! Gonna go check out some Sabbat now...
I remember back circa 1987 88 getting that photocopied Sabbat newsletter sent to me in Ireland. Obviously it was Andy himself sending it out as he says in this interview. Can’t believe it’s over 32 years ago! Still listening to History of a Time to Come in 2020
That was absolutely fucking killer Robb! I was there with you guys when Venom, Fate, Slayer, Exodus crushed us as teenagers. Wouldn't change a thing. Thank you brother. Andy is a treasure...
Robb, we to need to hear the Sneap/Max Cavalera story haha
Sounds interesting!!
Was a massive Sabbat fan back in the day, loved the whole concept of the Dreamweaver album and I well remember first hearing the session they did on BBC1 radio's Friday night rock show
The metal master!
And why was the gathering a crazy recording?? This needs a part 2 sir rob
I had the Sabbat albums on vinyl back in the day.
Nice to hear Mark Mynett (Kill II This) get a mention.
By coincidence I just finished the Halford book where he talks about getting Andy in the Priest line-up.
Great show, thanks Robb
Great episode. Andy’s a top man.
GREEEEAT Interview!!!
Down to earth guy - well done Sneapy
This was brilliant!
another great convo Robb....much love from NZ
YOUR podcast has made working from home a lot better 👍
This was brilliant, man, Robb!
Big ups to Andy. My respect to a dude of this stature.
& that’d be so damn sik to see Howard Jones & Max Cavalera on here 🤘🏿‼️
Sneap best producer in metal
now I really wan't to see Max Cavalera. He definitely has great stories to tell.
Awesome job Rob, I learn so much interesting stuff watching NFR videos.
Sneap legend!
Great interview!
Great interview. Soulfly’s Dark Ages is my favorite.
that was really, really interesting!
Hell yes Rob, Tom Segura tickles our pain away. I did a song for Your Mom’s House (the podcast he does with his wife Christina) called “How’s That Different, Balls?”.
That was amazing, would love to have Rob and I think he'd be totally cool on doing it, you should've actually asked Andy to ask him
fuckin brilliant ! thanks maaaain !!!
halford next!!!!!
That first Iron Monkey record is filthy, remember Sneap's name from the sleeve credits, cool to hear his story.
Does anyone know what happened to Andy's website? The domain is currently down and up for sale. I can't find a way to book studio/mix time.
Of all of the times Andy has told the story of how he became Priest's guitarist, this is the best version, because he had time to let it flow. Now in 2024, he owns that slot. How do you replace Glenn Tipton? You just do it. History will write the story. Just do it. Contribute!
Really wish Mr. Sneap would do a Maiden record.
Metallica record too !
Not as long as Harris has a say... he has Shirley licking his boot
@@z044408 Sadly Maidens new stuff sounds stale & shirley makes it sound that way,Sneap would make it sound amazing
@@dynamo4543 agree.. plodding and unimaginative.
Not to mention that human Clown Show Jannick “Winger Castoff” Gers
@@z044408 whole heartly agree with you & Nicko mc one beat too, everything after Brave new world Dickinsons return has been really hit & miss & it shows sadly,The extremely long songs get tiresome very quick,Angel & the gambler huge example they should have stuck to the short medium length songs
Hi Robb, please invite Bill Burr to this format, that would be awesome! He's a Comedian and 80s Metal guy, and he fucking digs "Bleed" from Meshuggah!
Excellent🤘🥃🥃
Sabbat are royalty in my house...
Just watching this and yes, we love Chimaira. I've been listening since I found This Present Darkness EP online. I also agree Pass Out is a HEATER. The mix is a bit dated, but other than that I still absolutely love those riffs, those drums, just thrashy death metal to me. Love the podcast. :)
Can you get Devin Townsend? Or Tobias Forge?
First heard slayer on tommy Vance radio show..'reborn'
If you're picking up beer, then you're not in Quarantine. Not that I care, cause I'm shopping, going to work, hiking, etc
Ha hA, Cool, Tommy Vance, spent Friday nights doing the same , then Videoing The Power Hour on ITV at 3am
its so true that glenn progressed do much faster than kk
Scit!? From Sabbat!?
Engineered the best sounding Megadeth!?
SUBSCRIBED!!!! - regards from the UK
I would love to have the defenders and screaming multitracks You should share some of them Andy That would be awesome
Break the Rules!! \m/
Mixing EXODUS next YAYYY!!!!!
There was some good thrash bands from UK. Sabbat, Xentrix, English Dogs, Deathwish and D.A.M just to mention some.
I would love to see Charly Steinhauer of Paradox and Kai Pasemann, these guys are better than Destruction and Kreator go and check out Collision Course, Riot Squad and Electrify the thrash riffs are fucking insane. 🤘
I would be so enthused if you can get Ross Robinson
Andy Sneap = 5150 tone
saw hell open for accept in germany around 2010
Andy Sneap . Traitors Gate - Judas Priest. 02:09
Hey rob!!! Can you try and get Burton on? Or maybe james hetfield?
KREATOR!! Luv me some Priest, and MAchine Fuckin Head!
SNEEEEEEEAP!
TMTC is a great record!
Subtitles needed
Guitarrist in Sabbath the killer english thrash band
Sabbat, not Sabbath
I understand under good mastering something else than brickwalling ...
I feel bad for y'all I'm in nw fl we're not locked down at all
p.s...I wanna here the max cav story...
Bring max cavalera on. Or Morgan lander
On Through The Night did not come out after High N Dry in America. That's bullshit!
Too much interruption by Robb this time, in my opinion. but still a great show.
Cmon at least give us a little something something on that max story haha
So, the big un asked question. Who's playing guitar on the next Priest tour? Assuming there are ever tours again
4 minutes in, was waiting for that answer. Damn. But then again Sneap wouldn't release news from Priest camp.
@@williamboyle8918 Very true
Andy is!
Rob Flyn? That clown is a fruit.
Andy Sneap - the single biggest contributer to current metal sounding cookie cutter and generic there is
He's even worse in Judas Priest.
it's funny to hear 2 old pricks believing in media pandemic - hahahaha/ dolars is finishing and you stil staying safe, hahaha
