My NOT so PERFECT Prime Rib | Things to watch out for!

- Join me as I tackle grilling a prime rib on the rotisserie for the first time.
I’ll take you through every step of the process - from the dry brine that sets the stage for tenderness and flavor, to the extra seasoning I add from drunkenchef, which really made this prime rib pop with goodness. Then I topped it with a quick and easy baste!
BUT not every cook is perfect and this one had it’s ups and down…Even though I slightly overcooked it, the outcome was nothing short of spectacular! A lot of his to do with the forgiving nature of rotisserie cooking. This slightly overcooked prime rib still emerges as the best I ever made but join me and let us learn together where I went wrong and what we can improve!

Oh, you know I love my wireless thermometer, Sal! It's especially helpful while using a rotisserie. I'll be smoking a prime rib on Christmas day! This one still looks tasty!!! Merry Christmas, brother!👍😋🌲🌲🌲
thanks kevin! there's going to be a lot of research being done in the new year for a wirless thermometer....cause i am officially addicted to rotisserie cooking lol. Merry Christmas Kevin!
Looks awesome! Nothing wrong with overshooting a bit, still looked great 👍
Thank you!
Wacha ese Garcias for the shout out primo excellent prime rib you got down primo 👏
you got it primo! thanks for taking a look
That’s a home run, Sal! That auj jus looked awesome!
Thanks Justin!
I've never done a prime rib before but definitely looks great! Good job hermano!
give it a shot! it sucks these are so damn pricey but if you are a fan, you should try one. I usually get some good deals shortly after xmas cause grocery store is trying to get rid of them.
Merry Christmas Sal!
Merry Christmas Sal! Have a blessed one
It looked delicious. I agree. Turkey on the rotisserie every time from now on.. great video Sal!
thanks Randy. You should try the prime rib on your kanka. It sucks these primeribs are so expensive but worth it if you are a fan of cooking them.
Great looking Prime Rib. Very juicy and tender. Salute🫡
thanks for stopping by!
I usually stop cooking my steak most of the time at 120 degrees. But you know what, this cook wasn't dried out, and actually looks pretty good. Not sure I would do a brine on it, after all, it is a prime rib! Cooked many in the Navy, as well as huge steamship rounds. What you got in this video is better than most food joints out there for many don't even remove the fat, and it gets served! Great cook here in my opinion.
Yup 120 is key. Especially to get a hot sear at the end.
Prime rib looked good bro! deliciousness!
Thank you! it was very tasty. can't wait to do it again
Nice cook! I received the basic Meater as a gift last year. It's well made and I feel like it's accurate, but the charging of the probe remains a bit frustrating as there are times I think it should be fully charged but is not. I have learned to verify everything well before starting a cook. My only other complaint is that the probe is pretty thick. I've heard the new version of the Meater is a bit thinner. Prime rib on a rotisserie is the perfect cook for a wireless probe!
yes it is Jim. I've heard a lot of very polarizing opinions on the meater version 1. some love it, some hate it. Hopefully their v2 does a lot better. but the only things I've read on it so far come from influencers who were gifted one. not saying they are lying, I'd just want to see a little more opinions on it to see if they addressed the big issues the version 1 had
Looked good to me Sal. That tray you cut it on was loaded with juicy goodness. Gonna be doing one at my buddy's house (on his gasser) Sunday, hope it comes out close to as juicy as yours did.
i am sure you'll nail it Troy! going to be some good eats thats for sure!
@@SJCOOKS It will Sal, I started with cooking roasts indirect on my gasser years ago and had quite the reputation for excellent roasts. I even became the cook at the fishing club when we'd do prime rib. Just been a while since not doing one on charcoal but everything is transmutable. Cheers!
A medium prime rib or ribeye roast is still a very much desired target! This was definitely a perfect prime rib Sal.
The saltiness of the prime rib would have paired perfectly with some au jus and some horseradish sauce.
😎👍
good suggestion! thanks brother
Sal dude I wouldn’t be mad at it I actually prefer medium looked great 🍻
i wasn't hating on it either. I enjoyed it but for my next, I'll have nail the temperature exactly how I want it
I appreciate the plug alao bro🤝
no problem, great rub. It's making another appearance in my next video too
another one sent out the park it's like you and the camera are having an affair lol you understand. TY
i am pretty sure I know what you mean...it's like me and my primerib were making love to the camera...I could have sworn I left that clip out though. I need to be paying more attention to my edits lol
Love me some wild fork. You know they sell little piggies 🐖. That’d be a great video.
good suggestion! i am going to try a few 'first time cooking this' types of videos next year and this would be a good one.
Resting a rib roast is where the temp gets away from me sometimes. I do better when I leave a thermometer in the roast while resting to know when to cut it and let the steam out so it stops cooking.
good strategy there Mike! how much heat gets carried over will surprise anyone
Wow Sal...I've watched 2 awesome prime ribs cooks this week & its only monday 🤤 Loved them both... I agree with Buzzdbbq about it actually being cooked to a medium!! Thanks for sharing amigo!!👌🏼
thanks for checking it out! one more video before the end of the year and I can rest easy lol
@@SJCOOKS Right on Sal...I'll be watching out for it!...
