  • This is a rare video of one of the most critically endangered and least photographed raptor in the world feeding its eaglet. This is the first time that an organization namely the Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines, Inc. was authorized by the government through the Biodiversity Management Bureau of DENR to document this majestic eagle.

    Napunta ako sa Natural History Museum in Vienna Austria. They have almost all kinds of raptors in the world except for our Philippine Eagle they only have a picture of it...! I just feel how majestic this birds are.. We should do something to protect its habitat..

      Just wanted to correct not most filipino maybe less just like in the other part of the world that doesnt know very much or doesnt familiar of what is wild life is about. There's a lot of people that doesnt know too much about wild life, not until they bring cams in the nest or in the other wild life. This is why they are encouraging people to learn about wild life, we are human we are animal too but we are most intelligent compare to animals. Although some people acts like or worse than animal.

    If you've heard of Pamana, the Philippine Eagle that was killed recenly which was rescued before, released back to the wild after it was nursed back to health, the female parent bird in this video was also killed last year.
    If we can't stop the killings, this National Treasure will probably be extinct in the wild in just a couple of generations. What a precarious situation this Eagle is in right now. The greatest loss will ever have if we can't prevent its extinction.

    If the government is serious in the propagation and continuation of this majestic bird, why not introduce it to the virgin forests of Palawan? Just a thought. Palawenos are more environmentally conscious than any other places in the country.

    • @pnoysuede
      @pnoysuede 9 лет назад +1

      Daryl Pingol couldn't agree more. even in the northern sierra mountain ranges from aurora to cagayan i think the bird has a highly good chance of surviving in the wild. it still has very good forest covers and is protected as part of the national park system. there were sightings of the philippine eagle in that area but no comprehensive effort to protect them like the one in mindanao.

    • @TSideWes805
      @TSideWes805 8 лет назад +15

      +Daryl Pingol Because it is not endemic to Palawan, and will affect the current native wildlife far more than it will benefit from the introduction of a predatory bird like the philippine eagle.

    • @kevaran1422
      @kevaran1422 7 лет назад +4

      Daryl Pingol I think introducing it to habitats where there are historical presence of this bird is a good idea, such as luzon forests, samar and leyte. but introducing it to other habitats such in palawan may result in a disastrous loss or decline of other native wildlife. other animals could fall prey without enough time to adapt to the presence of this powerful predator.

      +TheMabel2970 Thanks for the concern but the lens that I used has 2X and 1.4X TC stacked together giving me great focal length of about 1,640 mm because this nesting eagle is actually on the other side of the valley, really far away from our vantage point. :-)

    Americans almost killed off the Bald Eagle but thankfully they aren't even endangered after a few decades of dedication. Sadly it doesn't look like the Philippines have it in em to do the same

    • @chaoticheaven17
      @chaoticheaven17 6 лет назад +1

      Philippine Eagle requires big forest to thrive. The Philippines is a small country, unlike the United States. Alaska alone(a state with low population density) is almost 6 times bigger than the entire Philippines. And due to the high population density in the Philippines, these birds are losing their habitat. And there is a law to protect these birds. Killing a critically endangered species like the Philippine Eagle is punishable by imprisonment of between six and 12 years or a fine of P100,000( 1,850 USD) to P1 million (18,500 USD) under the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act (Republic Act No. 9147).
      Meanwhile, America still struggles to take action against gun violence(the whole country run by NRA), racism, sexism, etc.... And due to their outdated constitution, it's almost impossible to impeach an incumbent president. I don't think you guys got it in you to make a change. Fix your shit first before calling other nations out.

    I suggest, these eagles should also be released the Amazon, Indonesian jungles and Australian rain forests. They will be spared from extinction. The Philippines is not a safe place for these magnificent raptors.

    • @davodxsuperstar
      @davodxsuperstar 9 лет назад +2

      Amazon and Australian forest? Are you out of your mind? These eagles are variety of species compared to Harpy and American Golden eagle. One must adapt nature in terms of physicality and strength. This Philippine eagle however could scour the lands of borneo particularly in Indonesia because it is factual that they have their night-hunting relatives in there.

    • @joyflor3630
      @joyflor3630 9 лет назад +6

      Kalvin Sam if anyone will release the Philippine Eagle anywhere else other than its biome then it will become a invasive species of that new environment. IT is a BAD idea!!!! We need to conserve our entire ecosystem and individual species. I wish every individual in our biosphere learns the basic of biology....

    • @pnoysuede
      @pnoysuede 9 лет назад +1

      Kalvin Sam introducing this specie to another area can become destructive to other minor species already present in the area. it's the same reason why many other animal species have become extinct.

    • @alvinantonio1
      @alvinantonio1 9 лет назад +1

      You are all right and I forgot that I am just too selfish with my suggestion..If no one comes up with a bright idea or suggestions to save these magnificent birds, we might end up hearing again that the last Philippine Eagle got shot in the wild Good luck my dear Haribon.

    • @Sylmarys24
      @Sylmarys24 7 лет назад +1

      If released into the Australian rainforest it might potentially decrease populations of endangered tree kangaroos which it would feed on since it has the same lifestyle as the monkey it feeds on in the Philippines.
