LOL, I'll save you some time, it does not cut clear acrylic. But here is the amazon link to the one I tried. It's nice acrylic in case you want to use it for something else! www.amazon.com...
Dang, I was about to try just this and decided to see if anybody's done it yet. Thanks for sharing your results.
Yeah I so wished it worked. Ah well, i hope to have a CO2 laser some day! ;)
@@RebeccaMadeIt yes co2 work
i also see vedio for an idea but its mean that leser diode dont cut clear acrylic
for clear acrylic Co2 require
Yep co2 is required to make cuts, I wish I would have found more videos on diode and clear acrylic Before purchasing my machine (ortur master 2 pro) but it's still a very good machine to start off with!
With the blue diode its still able etch the backing away for cool lighting effect
👆(mirror acrylic)
Hello what other colors have you tried
OMG Rebecca WOW That is Amazing....GREAT job!! TFS this was fun!! YOU so ROCK!
Joan Smith
Thanks so much!!
i guess it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch new movies online?
I was sad to know that it is not possible to cut transparent acrylic, I would buy a $700 laser cutting machine today, but now that I know I can't work with transparent acrylic I'm going to give up the purchase. Thanks for making the video and helping me not spend money😔
Yeah that's really the only negative to a diode laser. It will etch just not cut. Glad to help.
I'm pretty sure with a K40 laser you can, you can get one for about 500
@@whiteli9htnin thanks for watching, yes I bet you are right! I have a CO2 laser now and will try it soon! Never enough time for making lately 😏
@@RebeccaMadeIt which one do you have? Would you recommend? I'm looking at different ones right now
@@whiteli9htninraw k40 scare me and I didn't want to do all the upgrades so I went for the makeblock laserbox. I have a few videos on it so far. I like it and do recommend them.
Thank you.
thanks dear 😍for this
My pleasure 😊
I think trying a few different speed increased tests would help. I think you are moving slow enough that the cutting is fusing back together faster than it but clear is a difficult type to cut. Acrylic is in general a sensitive material for diode lasers. I know the 10w xtool D1 can cut opaque acrylic and possibly the darker transparent ones up to 3mm possibly 5mm thick in a few passes but I believe the speed settings are higher than yours. Most 2.5 - 5w output diodes are not great for cutting most materials
Thanks for the tips! The new xtool D1s coming out look cool!
Im already in love with the 10w. Got it set up and working on dealer info tags for my husband's business. It's anodized aluminum.
I would also recommend getting some kind of air assist which might cool the acrylic as you cut.
Thanks, you save me time..
Nice, glad it helped. Lasers are so fun, great tools for makers.
I have cut thru 1/4 opaque acrylic in 2 passes I have not tried clear
Nice, 2 passes. Was that with air assist? I've tried black and it does well, what colors have you done?
Folks, do not do this unless you are ventilating the space. Build a ventilated box that exhausts fumes outside. Unless you want to grow a tail.
Always good advice! I use mine in a garage with doors open and fans. But ventilated boxes and respirators are optimal! And never leave the laser unattended!
would it have better results if u used on one those honeycomb laser cutter beds?
I think there would be A lot less of the smoke residue. But I think the laser light would still pass right thru. I'm gonna try a raised bed and permanent marker soon.
@@RebeccaMadeItLaissez le film bleu et passez une couche de peinture noire gouache très fine avec un rouleau en mousse.
@@TheSPL72 Thanks for the suggestions!
Hi Rebecca
Which colours so far you managed to cut properly
I've done black and red. Any dark solid color should be fine. Glitter acrylic was scary, lots of sparking so be careful with it!
@@RebeccaMadeIt i tried gold it wasn't easy. Lilac nothing happened. Yellow was ok
@@sorena1973 thanks for the info!
@@RebeccaMadeIt thank youu
You don’t know me. But I’d like to ask for a favor. Go to the dollar tree and pick up a sheet of their foam. ($1) See if you can cut that. It would really help us model airplane guys. 🤓
Hey good idea, I can try that soon! I'm sure dark colors would work.
@@RebeccaMadeIt im really interested in white
Hello Rebecca, it was important for you to do the test, just so, it is known that the laser does not cut transparent materials but, would acrylic smoke would be the same thing? Is it possible for you to take the test? Thank you
Hi, not sure what "acrylic smoke" is? Maybe that did not translate correctly?
so sad to this😅
Yeah agreed, the ability to cut clear acrylic is really the only disadvantage of a diode laser. But otherwise they are still a cheap way to get into the lasering hobby!
nice try :( id like to see how it works on different colored acrylic!
I know, I want to try all the colors now!
@@RebeccaMadeIt yay :)
@@RebeccaMadeIt i also try clear acrylic
leser cut only dark color acrylic
white acrylic also not cut by this leser
@@WajidAli-zw4hu true. I really wish it could cut clear and white, but dark colors are better!
Try experiment with in foil + wet paper towel + plastic view link -.=>
thanks for the info, sounds interesting! I'll look into it.
Oh no :( do you know if it works with mirror acrylic? (Not sure if u use the same word for it in english like we do in German)
I have not tried mirror acrylic. I'll try to get some soon. My guess is that would not cut well but maybe can engrave. It does a great job to engrave the back of regular mirror. ruclips.net/video/6qdACMO9FA0/видео.html
I'm getting the same results with mirror acrylic , doesn't cut thru just melts.
@@anjelicacarrillo9362 sorry late reply but thanks for the update. I was really hoping mirror acrylic would work.
Oh ohhhh ☹️
Ha, sorry! Didn't mean for this to be click bait. Lol. These diode lasers are great but not cutting clear or white is the biggest con they have!
air assist might help
Yeah maybe a bit. Darker colors definitely work better with diode lasers!
I hope I didn’t waste my money on this product!
Yeah they can be frustrating but for a diode laser it's pretty good. If you haven't already check out the Facebook groups, lots of tips and inspiration.
try something black that wont burn away.
good idea, not sure it will work but worth a try. A sharpie or black paint maybe , can't hurt!
Hello your machine is Neje master 2S??
I think mine is just the 2, not 2S. Neje 30W master 2 plus. Get the 2S if you can, sounds like it works better with Lightburn software.
@@RebeccaMadeIt This is the problem I have, I have already followed several parameters, configurations and many videos, but I was unable to make it work so much on Ligthburn and others that use the GRBL system ...
Bummer, I still have not tried Lightburn but hesitant to even try after all the issues from others with the 2.
@@RebeccaMadeIt no problem thanks Rebecca, nice talk to you... I love yours videos...
I ordered the 2s, I will let you know how it has performed after i received it
I think you set the laser too far from the acrylic.
Thanks for the tip, getting the perfect focal point is tricky. Lots of trial and error. But diode laser is not best for clear acrylic.
Wet paper towel under it maybe better
Worth trying but not sure it would help. Thanks for the tip.
its cheaper to get the K40 CO2 CNC, also it's faster than this thing.
I've been researching them. They still intimidate me, lol.
@@RebeccaMadeIt no need to be afraid, use a webcam to watch the work wile you set the machine in an empty room, just to be safe, also there are upgrades here on you tube to make them safer to use.
@@takismail Thanks for the encouragement and info! Definitely cool tools for makers!
@@RebeccaMadeIt you're welcome Mate, planning to order one of them myself :).
