When cutting cotton do you find the edges can still fray afterwards? I've heard this is one of the downsides compared to cutting say polyester which is synthetic so the edges "seal" when laser cut whereas cotton is a natural material and so doesn't work like this
Good stuff.... As for burning the design on the cut piece of acrylic, I would certainly place it on top of something OTHER than that of your NEW sheet of black acrylic stock.... ANY overshoot of your design would f-up your still new acrylic sheet underneath.... Just say'in....

Do you mean if someone scans tag, that it will say if past a set date?
It looks to me like you can get 128 colors, all the bottom colors look different. Is there a way to duplicate the bottom on the top? I guess the bottoms might only work on the bottom.
Lol 🤪. You are right more layers would yield more color variations. But at some point it becomes too thick for initial layer to be seen. Not sure how thin the layer can be, maybe depends on nozzle size.

Your power is way too high IMO. I cut my foamboard with a 20w diode at about 15% power and 8mm/s and make 2 passes.

I'm really not sure, never had an iPhone. I know they have some native nfc tag support but I don't think there is a Tasker app version for iphone.

No I don't think any hobby fiber laser can cut acrylic. But they do engrave photos beautifully, on black acrylic. Not sure how it works since fiber lasers are mainly for metal. But cool. It's all about the wavelengths I guess.

Hmm, my guess is there would be something wrong with the first action, where it actually runs the python file. Maybe try printing %stderr in the second action to see if any errors.

I am a self published children’s author and I was wondering if it is possible to program the tags to play an audio file. I thought it would be fun if a person could scan the tag and I could have my voice reading the page. Do you know if this is possible? I absolutely love that you are exploring the NFC tags and sharing your videos.
Fantastic idea and possible! You can get stickers with NFC card built in. Super thin and could be stuck to your books. Audio does not reside on tag, tag is just a pointer to where it's stored. Such as a private RUclips video that has you reading the book! More expensive version is to host on your own website, tag would send user to specific URL, could probably setup webpage to then play audio/video automatically.
You know, now thinking about it more, a QR code, just as part of the printed cover, could probably do the same thing!

That's a great idea but a PC would have to have an external device connected that is a NFC card Reader. The beauty of smart phones is that hardware and technology is already built in. That's why all great examples out there are just on phones.

No, i have never tried mirror acrylic, other than etching on old make-up mirror. And i do not have any to try. My guess is it will be difficult with a diode laser to cut. Once it goes through the backing, it is essentially clear acrylic, which does not Cut on diode laser.
