12:36 that's actually a really interesting save, Man City and Chelsea tend to rocket to the top early on, Arsenal usually take a little bit longer to collapse, and I find Sheffield's United tends to be mid-table at best.
I started playing Football Manager with FM 11. Then and every year since, the best formation is the 433/451, and you have to press and counter press. If you give the opposition space they kill you.
On the first save, when you start looking at the team comparison (~4:55 into the video) all the player positions were checked as you went through the positions. It would not have changed that he was a bad team for his league, but it may have made a slight difference in just how bad his team looked.
a few tips that are in the category of advanced..you need to know what you want exactly in which part of the game..what do you want in the middle? pass tackling pressing? in attack speed? jump game? according to these desires find players with these attributes you have an attacker who is good at jumping but no speed to it you should add attackers with speed
Actually, in the current iteration of FM 21, when it comes to the English leagues is extremely punishing if you start from a lower league. The old way to play: get free transfers from higher leagues doesn't work anymore. You will see a steady decline of Potential Ability of released footballers, The top teams fight like crazy for any 120+ PA that spawns in a lower league while releasing 18-19yo players with PA oif 100 and less. What is further infuriating, we used to love getting a 130+ PA ability youngster. The top league teams will go after those in a heartbeat now. Even if you set a fair (or unfair) release clause, they will still poach them when the board gets a high enough value for them. I regrettably experienced that in 2 separate York to Prem saves. It will be much worse if you pick a semi-professional team. Sadly the Brexit forces the English leagues to turn into a dog eats dog world. As such, while we all like to play with youngsters (myself included, for me 24yo used to equal a sale), for National N/S to Prem one will need to change the mindset. I raised my "sale" limit to 27-28yo and everything suddenly improved. Did I have as much fun? Nope. But it worked... I am positive that the English leagues will change those rules, but in FM 21, they are super punishing to lower league clubs.
I did something similar to the first guy but I took leamington all the way from van north to championship back to back and got stuck there. At least didn't get relegated but I won league 1 and league 2, got promoted to van national and league 2 by playoffs. I pretty much had a different team every season and relied on loans heavily, had like 17 loan players in 1 season.
This is something that has pretty much put me off football manager. I’m basically in the same boat as the first lad. Got accidentally promoted two divisions into the top danish league. We’ve only just turned professional upon entering the superliga and my clubs rep is so bad that no one wants to come that would help ... and I mean no one. Not even loans, I’ve got 18 years olds who get zero game time who turn me down. All this wouldn’t put me off, however, the game like you said seem to reward nothing but high lines, gegen press ultra attacking tactics. I can take having bad players and losing some games to better teams. But it seems like you can’t defend deep and play on the counter unless you have the best defenders and the best forwards in the league. But if you had that you’d play more attacking, it just doesn’t make sense. In the previous season I played positive possession football even though I was weaker than most teams and fluked promotion (maybe this wasn’t luck more me just accidentally abusing the meta) Now this season I’m far weaker than every team so I’ve opted for a more cautious/defensive approach... which just doesn’t work. I’m semi tempted to go back to my old tactics but it just isn’t logical.
Good lord, that Slough side might be, comparatively, the worst team in the entire history of League 1. The lads he signed on free transfers looked like non-league quality. Honestly, no shame in getting your cheeks clapped every week with that squad - on the contrary he deserves credit for getting promoted that far with them!
Love the series......whats your thoughts on the idea that running a small database with a high number of leagues loaded lends to more realistic transfer activity??
Lmao this is my Barnet save at the moment. Literally the worst team in the league in every single category besides agility and pace. Halfway through the season and I'm still 6th somehow.
I had a brilliant save with westham. Finally won the league in the seventh season. Won the league cup euro cup 2 europa league.. it’s a great team to be have to have patience.
Would you be able to explain how to develop youth players, particularly with regard to playing time? I currently am managing Bristol City; we're mid table in the Prem a year after promotion with state of the art youth and training facilities. Naturally, I have signed copious amounts of young players with higher potential than my current team. However, outside of two or three standouts that cost a ton, all of my youth players with high potential are not good enough to start in the Prem and avoid relegation. I have a Croatian affiliate, but none of my players want to be loaned there. I know they need playing time to develop, but I do not know where to look. How do I go about developing my players into the potential Champions League caliber players they can be without starting them in my first team and risking relegation?
i mean depends on the player... you shouldnt really need to loan any youth player that is 18 or under. 19 is when it makes sense to start loaning. if their 19 and not really developing then offer them out for loan, you dont have to simply loan them to an affiliate club, you can loan them to any other club that puts in an offer. Choose the best club that makes sense based on training facilities, if their an english club and say the player is foreign, choose an english club to get nationality/home grown etc. you can have more than 1 affiliate club by the way and probably should now that your in the prem. If the player is developing at the club then keep them and play them in some cup games and maybe an occasional sub in for league games. I'm actually kind of confused as to what you are confused about here? Do you think you can only loan your players to your affiliate club?
If you're looking for regens and newly created youth players you don't need to load it in. However there are some real players in the South American leagues who you can get ridiculously cheap (Jesus Gallardo in Mexico is 2-3m at the start of the game and is a very good Premier League left back) so loading in the league's can be a good idea.
2:52 in tactics you have no balance..roels are poorly placed the middle is fine but you have an imbalance between two attackers..he can't win with two advanced forwards but you lose the attempt to put one to be support..the left flank is not good set role attack-support and not support
