pride has a completely different feel this year; normally its about success, overcoming, and celebration. this year feels almost somber and depressing, like something bad is about to happen. stay safe everyone, hopefully the GOP will back off of the LGBTQ community once they lose the 2024 election

I think the people celebrating it get to choose their own reasons. For some I know, it's definitely about celebrating the love they've found in the community. It has much deeper meaning on a societal level and I am not trying to downgrade the importance of the entire LGBTQIA+ movement but, you don't get to tell people how to celebrate Pride.
How would christians act if they fully read and understood the bible instead of repeating quotes from it that other people told them?
It would be very difficult as, after hundreds of years, some word meanings have chaged.
Not to mention how much it's been altered through various translations i.e. King James

My first Pride was 30 years ago in St Louis, MO. I remember a bunch of jerks whipping beer bottles at me and my friend as we were walking to the event area. It was scary and not as big as the parades are nowadays. I am ok with corporations jumping on the Pride bandwagon. The more visibility and the more corporations involved the better.

These corps aren’t “woke allies”, they just want $! Young singles, kids & parents are the target demo for things like candy, non-gendered toy depts, kids’ pride Ts, etc, but couples w/out kids 100% make sense for pricier things AND are often the “cool aunts/ uncles”. Chic-Fil-As CEO admits they have a DEI because many of their stores are in majority minority areas. (Probably helps a bigot-led company comply w/ local anti-discrimination laws, too😉)

There are some companies we don't buy from or use anymore. Unfortunately you can't avoid all of them. We do this out of love for friends and family that have been hurt by these companies. I don't actually know if these companies being involved is a step forward or not. But as long as different states have laws on the books that let companies fire people for no reason, those laws hurt everyone, but especially those that don't match their fake christian value's. We have seen recently some companies cave to these people and that has also shown them that the power of the people work both ways. There are actually more people that care about freedoms for everyone then there are idiots on the right. We all have the power to hurt these companies that cave to the right, and I think it's time to prove that at least one or two companies at a time. Because there can't be any real trust in these companies until they prove they have actually started being true to what they say, especially since the most you here from these companies is in June.
