As someone who was entirely new to MuseScore, I discovered that using the software to input music was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Initially, I encountered a few challenges and minor mishaps as I navigated through the various features and functions. I've tried to use this, mostly decent software, but if you make a mistake, or decide you want to change the duration of a note... what an absolute pain. Why on earth would the programmers assume that to change a 1/4 note to an 1/8 note means what you really want is two 1/8 notes instead of one SINGULAR 1/8 note with the resulting room added to the end of the measure? Now try to delete that extra 1/8 note that you didn't want, now you have a rest you didn't want and you can't change the next 1/4 to a dotted quarter, because you figured out how to delete the rest... which then in turn DELETED that 1/8 from the measure, and now you're not even in $%^*&ing 4/4 anymore. Writing music for harp and piano. Yesterday, attempt 1 failed, attempt 2 on a new score worked. Saved it and closed Musescore4. Opened it today, it worked for a few bars then Musescore4 started doing it's own thing. Unwanted rests of all kinds appeared in the next bar, it wouldn't let me put a note where I wanted to put a note, cut one of the bars in half, putting the notes in the next bar, and worse, took a section and put it several bars down the page. Why can't someone develop notation software that you can put the notes you want and the rests you want where you want without a programme putting them where IT wants. NOT impressed.

This is a free programme but I'm impressed enough to go for the full version at a later date. The only downside I could see was you can't save to PDF which makes it harder to share but it was a simple case of print out a copy, scan then email it to the pianist.
I think Musescore is trying to run before they can walk and really need to address some long-term bugs, many going back several years according to commenters on the forum.
i downloaded an undertale soundfont so i got musescore to use the soundfont, and I DONT WANT TO MAKE REAL MUSIC AND THAT STUFF I JUST CAME TO MAKE A SONG FOR MY GAME
Maybe it's just me but this has got to be the least intuitive piece of software I ever worked with.
Try the Sibelius free trial and see how far you get with that :D
it's almost impressive how unintuitive an app can be
But....but.......I came here to find out how to connect my keyboard to muse score and play the notes, having the notes appear in time on a staff. I guess that's just too much to ask. Another 4:21 blown all to hell.
There's another new tutorial, "MuseScore in Minutes: Using MIDI Keyboards". Sounds like that's what you want.
i hate muse score 4. Here I am trying figure out all the stupid bugs and changes.
Musesore totally sucks. Can't even insert a beat to edit a measure, you have to rewrite the whole measure. You can't select groups of notes to move around or cut and paste.
Music score works but you must practice first with a piece of music or you will be nothing but frustrated
