Mariusz wasn't that strong compared to the others. He was more athletic, fast with weights compared to the others that could lift more than him. If Big Z never had that neck injury he'd have tied or surpassed Mariusz. In Mariusz last wsm he was looking at Big Z and Shaw knowing he can't beat them anymore, so he said he'd quit and focus on his mma career.
@@w1ldcard1986 you can check their stats on how much they lift at the gym. Big Z is stronger. In wsm events he holds records too. The polish guy has one more win than Z, but he didn't have competition as fierce. You make claims and not know anything. Proof you're a child as your name suggests.

Even sillier than arm wrestling. Too many variables. The stronger guy could easily lose from bad luck. Lifts are a much better indicator than direct head to heads.
It's a competition. It is supposed to have variables. It is NOT a weightlifting contest. We have power lifting and Olympic lifting contests for that. Man to man contests are challenging, fair and exciting. This sport is supposed to force an athlete to have to use their strength in a variety of ways. Moving deadweight from point A to point B in a mostly linear fashion is not as hard as these types of events. That's why they were put in the old contests. Now we have a bunch of Insulin, GH and Synth injected bloated 400 pounders who would NEVER last 8 minutes in this type of event.
George Wagner That's exactly what it is and rightly too. The strongest man won't win the arm wrestle, the best arm wrestler will. There's also far more variety in static and dynamic lifts than powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting, more than enough to give an all round representative of someone's strength, and produce an exciting competition. Not sure what your point about drugs is; if you're suggesting strongmen of the past weren't on drugs, you're sorely mistaken. Kazmaier admitted to steroid use 30 years ago, and he wasn't the only one!

the tug of war was one of the greatest events in WSM history
Just imagine Thor vs Brian shaw
They'd gas out in the first 20 seconds. Oxygen tanks would come to the rescue and it would end in a draw.
... or of course Eddie Hall!
Bring back the bending bars around heads and ripping phone books in half, that's if phone books still exist.
this is badass
Prime Kaz vs. Prime Mariusz in this event would have been a sight.
Xavier Vega 👍 4 sure. Kaz more powerful mariuz more athletic
Kaz would destroy him he is too strong.

Doing this on sand was an oversight!
Capes is naturally the strongest man of the modern era..Only very heavy training and nutritional regimes allowed his rivals to compete with him
And roids, as you noted Cales was presumed natty.

Geoff was a great personality and household name in the world of strong men.
A real, tough , blood and epic fight , the time that men was really men
Kazmaier had his feet against a rock that was buried in the sand. He admitted this to Geoff years later.
