A country with 1.4 billion can’t even bring 10 medals in the Olympics. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of potential Olympians across the country deprived of any facility of fulfilling their potential. Politics and business has made sports a tertiary element. Very shameful. 8000 crores for election. 600 million dollars for a wedding. But instead of defending Vinesh Phogat, the audacity to justify the negligence with an excuse of spending 75 lakhs on the player as a compliment shows that we will never be a Top 10 Olympic nation. Australia has the population of Delhi and yet produces almost 20+ medals every Olympics. China took offence in their own performance decades ago and started Olympic factories, scanning every school and college for talents and trained them with the only motive of winning golds and nothing else. Think about it.
Sports is part of culture in Aus. Their hockey player Amy Lawton played 3 sports and chose 1 at pro level. Elyse perry has played both Football and Cricket WC. Is sports part of Indian people lifestyle ? Should we start force training 8-9 yr old girls for gymnastics like Xhina ? Dont cry dictatorship then
@@M_R___974 Dude, you missed the whole point. I talked about scanning for potential talents and facilitating their growth, not kidnapping them and enforcing child labour on them. For a population of 1.4 billion people, providing top notch world class facilities to a few thousand athletes will certainly not affect the lifestyle of the entire population. And it is only because of people like you sitting in those sports organisations that we are failing to excel in sports.
Our government is very busy dividing the citizens in the name of religion and castes, all that just to stay in power and fulfill their greed, and let's not discuss the Supreme leaders' big ego

@@M_R___974 that's what I am saying. I would even lower upto 6-7-8 to start scanning. The younger you catch them, the better you can make them. If there are incentives for medalists, even parents will be encouraged to start encouraging their children to take up at least one sport seriously.
