Thanks again for JK Gear and Gadgets for doing this first and showing us how to! / @jkgearandgadgets
Here is where I got mine from: moparonlinepar...
DISCOUNT CODE: MOPFORUMZ for free shipping
Part Numbers:
Latch: 68240952AD
Catch Bracket: 68240951AB
Thanks for all the shoutouts! As for the discount code I actually found it on a forum and it applies to any products over 50$! Great idea about slotting the hood holes a tad in order to line it up better. Like always, great video!
Class act recognizing JK Gear and Gadgets. I enjoy both your channels. I took your advice and slotted the holes on the hood with a 1/4 bit. I stuck with the 3/8 on the bottom. I guess if someone wanted to take the extra time they could slot those as well. The bigger hole does allow for adjustments though.
Took your advice and just slotted out all the holes that needed to be done.
Worked out great on the hood part
I like the upgrade, nice install, I just order a set for my JKU and the code still works! I got the shipping discount! Awesome!!!
I woulda liked doing this but already have the rugged ridge hinges on and I like them, nice install
Are the rugged ridge thinner than the JK latches?
They look sweet. I’m still a little nervous about drilling in my Jeep though
I cut the little tabs off.
That's cool. I use to think of putting TJ parts on my JK. Some progress like you, some regress like me. I put the black textured rugged ridge hood latches on mine. Only problem with those are the plastic safety clips, they break. They made good on it though by mailing me replacements. I had them on too tight. Two months later and still good.
Joe Stacks Too bad they didn't put the inline 6 in the JK. The 3.8 so far has been very reliable. Just doesn't have the low end torque of the 4.0
If you could do it over again, would. you have drilled it to 3/8? Or would you have just slotted the holes? Do the studs on the JL latch fit the holes of the JK as is?
installed these yesterday, I will be stealing your slotted idea. Thanks
gonna grind the slots on the hood instead of drilling. Glad to see your video, a lot tighter. Its better leaving a little more metal on the hood slots, because even if you push them up a little and tighten them down on the nuts it could still loosen or slide down a little as time goes by and open up the gap on the hood. I wonder if its better to swap out the upper nuts to lock nuts or the nuts that have a grove on them that bite down and don't loosen up as easily.
WOW!!! The price has gone up. Got mine from Mopar a couple years ago and they were like $65.
Look at the fender sucked in @6:29 These JL parts are designed for a more vertical installation. Look at the JL hood. The hood is more vertical at catch location.
Thanks I did it .looks good< it took 3.5 weeks to get the latch
Nice! Thanks for the tips!
Great video, thank you.
This looked awesome so I bought some and they turned out great. BUT DO NOT use these if you have limb risers. The risers pull on the latches causing them to cant far enough to where it looks terrible and barely closes. I tried tightening the latches tight enough to where they would hold the stress of the riser but ended up pulling the latch mounting bolts straight through the plastic. Love the look and they'll work perfect without risers, just saying they are a no go if you do have risers.
Cool mod! Really enjoying the channel.
If you remove the headlights the bolts are easier to get to for the bottom latch
Great! Looks great
What do you mean slotted - jeep looks awesome
You don't have to do any drilling; the top will fit good and the two prong will marry into the hole once you start tightening it down.
Mine are being delivered tomorrow! :-)
I just ordered. Fun fact- if you order the 2 of each JL Latch: 68240952AD and
Catch Bracket: 68240951AB on that website- INSTEAD of together in the "JK upgrade kit"- it is $5.07 less.
Thanks for the video, did the latter part & ground the uppers instead of drilling like you suggested, perfect fit!
What do you mean you didn't drill?
couple non related questions. 1. Why did did you leave your engine cover off? 2. how do you like those tires? I have those tires and they are good on the road, but bad in mud.
I did this several months ago. I ordered my parts from MoparAmerica.com
WHICK METAL CLOAK FENDER IS THAT? I DIG IT
That's the best kind of wife interruption.
How are they holding up now? Any fading? My Rugged Ridge hood latches started to peel off the paint now and thinking to get these. Thanks!
I got a set coming.
Seeing people drill holes into jeep metal is like watching a horror movie. You dont need to drill holes all you have to do is shave off the points on the latches. Other reviewers do that for the latches and it makes more sense.
Looks good!
Nice headlights! Where did you get it?? Please! Thanks for the vid
The JL latches pull the fender look fender is deflected as cam loads and pulls hood down. Watch JK's video at 10:15 when he latches the drivers side. ruclips.net/video/ZZO0wn8OW-o/видео.html
Who makes the flat wheel guards?
I wish you would've showed us how much you slotted the holes so we can just do that instead of drilling out to 3/8 like you mentioned.
Bill Braski It might be different for you... So I'd just take a little off at a time and keep checking. You can just put it on without slotting first, and then look at the gap and see how much you need it to lower....and that's how much to slot it.
Thanks! I'll try that.
Which hood latch, when closed, is shorter?
Which hood latch, when closed, is thinner?
I will try it first without drilling; if needed you only slotted the top (hood) portion, correct? Mine arrived 3 weeks to the day from order date. Love your videos, btw!
How did that go?
Hi , can be use JL hood on jk as well good latch
What headlights do you have, they look like Morimoto Super 7s
Did you reuse the rubber gasket from the previous latches?
The link you gave isn’t working ??
Did u reuse the rubber gasket?
I love the design of your hood decals. Were they done custom or did you order them off of a website?
Rod Hughes I made the design and a local guy cut them for me.
Jester Graphics can make hood decals for your Jeep.

You going to the pa jeep show this year
sean planning on it.
o3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] you wouldn’t remember me lol 😂 but last year at the show we were talking about you were missing a spider webshade ball ,and I have the front Rusty’s cage , anyways I’ll be at the show , take the tj lol
Still on Back Order
Hey I saw the same video and ordered a set immediately but moparpartsonline canceled my order and didn't put me on backorder. Did you give them your vin? I didn't because I thought they might cancel due to a mismatch. But now I'm wondering if I got canceled because I didn't give the vin. Any thoughts? I love your videos by the way. Great content.
Damian Waller I didn't give them any info about my Jeep.
o3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] ok I'm going to try again. Maybe it was a fluke.
Mine rusted out on the inside already. Not even a year old.
🇵🇷👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 NICE VIDEO
what kind of headlights are you running man. I know a different mod but since I am watching..
These! ruclips.net/video/tmTSg2s2zlM/видео.html
Discount code doesn’t work!
Are you using same hardware?
Dude, those short clips of the starting of the drill process literally make me cringe haha
Now figure out how to install them on the tj... :P
SWBCrawler great idea !
Found these on Amazon for way cheaper. Are they the same?

What fender flares are u running?
Those are from Metalcloak
Im not a fan of drilling holes bigger on like that! That's how rust would start to build, unless you rust proof them. I guess i'll pass on them. You did a good job thought!
I can't get my 13mil bolts off. They just spin
So that means the bolt is spinning in the hood latch body. You may need to cut the plastic away on the latch so you can get a pair of pliers on the other side of the bolt. That's what I'd do... just carefully dremel the plastic with a small cutoff wheel.
I just got them off. Yeah
what color is that jk
Clear Anvil
Not visible... Like the holes you're painting cause the paint bottle is in the way 😂
You'll have to close your eyes and and imagine what painting bare metal might look like. :-P
All of your videos rock but, you didn’t show how it works? Guess, I’ll ask a JL owner if I can open and close his hood latches to see the difference.
Watch this at about 11:28.... Maybe that will help. ruclips.net/video/LUdAAQUILtY/видео.html
@@o3djeeps Nope, your hand was in the way.
those are nice fenders. what type are they?
What size slot bits were those?
