I think you would find this game more fun if you went through it again with a friend or your girlfriend. Oh, and there is a simple solution to fixing the lag on RB4, but it does cost some money. The guitar peripheral that was made for RB4 can automatically detect and adjust the calibration settings, getting them nearly perfect. You don't have to actually play with the guitar if you don't like it, but I'd recommend picking one up for that purpose alone. Lastly, I definitely agree that you need more songs to really enjoy RB4. I was lucky enough to be able to download the RB1 setlist before it expired, and the RB3 setlist is still for sale on their marketplace for $15, which is easily worth the price. Anyway, I don't mean to be overzealously critical, but as an avid RockBand fan since the day the 1st one released, I genuinely don't feel like you got the full RockBand experience by burning through the stripped versions of the games on your own. You'd enjoy yourself a lot more by playing through the "modern" versions of the game, with at least one other person. In case it hasn't been said, the smaller frets does DO something in solo's, solo's in Rock Band basically acts like tap notes and you can use the smaller frets during solo section and the notes will be automatically strummed regardless of its nature.
i have to agree with you that RB3 is the best of the series. i'd* actually been playing it on my Xbox 360 for over a decade now and, while i play these games mostly for the setlist (and i did a healthy amount of online shopping to really fatten my game - counting DLC, imports and mods, i have over 800 songs now), i really love everything else. the fact that you can use your characters anywhere and not just on the main Tour mode, the cutscenes, the practice space, the freedom on character creation (and the fact that you don't need to spend in-game money to earn every piece)... i only wish they had a World Tour mode instead, or parallel, to the Road Challenges. it really felt like you were traveling on that one instead of just going from gig to gig. oh, and that they let you organize the bandmates' placement however you saw fit like in RB2 and Lego - i had to go through a few hoops and rearrange them all the time whenever i switched an instrument (like i had with an all-girl band i made where they all wore KISS makeup - i had to keep shifting them around so they would be in their right instruments). also, i used to be initially of RB4 at first (especially since Van Halen was on it and they actually made hair on the characters instead of pointy 3DSMax lumps with ridges), but once i found out there were people retrofitting the songs for RB3, i quickly forgot about it. and as for Clone Hero, i can't get into it simply because there's no band animation. you may call this a nitpick, you may say no one really pays attention to it (well, i do, i'm sorry!), but i like seeing the characters i make playing the songs i like, like that band of KISS girls i mentioned earlier or the girls from K-On! if it weren't for the need to build new peripherals, i'd want a new RB on the Switch. *i would say "i've", but my console's disc drive seems to be busted. i want to throw it in the garbage and buy a Slim model, but i'm on a financial bind right now.

Alright 2 minutes into the video. No wonder you dont have alot of fond memories playing rock band. The wii and ps2 versions were pretty terrible compared to the ps3/360 versions. I have so many fond memories of rb1 on the ps3 with online play, character creation. Download as much dlc as i could. Competitive play online with score duels. The ps2 version had none of that. Plus the graphics were pretty garbage in comparison (the reason being is because the priorities were to get the game running at 60fps)
Wii and PS2 were definitely not the definitive GH/RB games, though I still have a lot of fun playing them on Wii today. Also, I think that there were unnecessary UI, menu, and sound changes between Wii and 360 and PS3. In RB2 the frets and notes look different, which I don’t see how the Wii couldn’t handle some simple UI, and the instrument on the rock meter glows and pops in 360 and PS3, but the Wii only glows. In the GH games, the miss note sound effect for the Wii version is the one used in previous games. GH3 Wii has GH2’s, GH4 has GH3’s, and GH5-6 have GH4’s. Also, the loading screen is different in GH3 for some reason and the menus don’t have any transitions. The font on the GH3 setlist is different too. W H Y ?
Rock band 2 was my shit. I played rockband 3 a lot but my dad got a new tv and calibration became an issue more and more. Plus that was around the time I started hanging out with friends outside of the house so I just stopped playing.
Wait what? I though the overdrive visual effects were generally way more subtle and less intrusive than Star Power. Especially ghII's effect where the notes all look like they glint off the sun and shine for a second? Like the sun's in your eyes? And the whole highway shakes? I always thought that was terrible design for an effect that usually gets used right at the solos when reading the complex note patterns is the most difficult anyway! The RB overdrive seemed very non-intrusive to me in comparison.
god i should revisit rb3. sucks i can't find my wireless adapter tho lol. (even worse considering i want a controller for clone hero) ps check discord dms i dont think youll regret it
RockBand 1 was made with the PS3 & XBox360 in mind. To get it play on the PS2 & Wii, two inferior systems to the PS3 & XBox360, they had to water it down. This included the removal of custom characters and DLC, as well as pre-rendering the animations in the background. If you played RockBand 1 on the PS3 or XBox360, you never had any of these issues. At least the PS2 & Wii versions came with a few extra songs to make up for the lack of DLC. RockBand 2 did not have as many issues on the PS2 & Wii because they figured out ways around the console limitations. Therefore, RockBand 2 has custom character creator and allows DLC. It still comes up short, however, because it did not allow importing the RockBand 1 songs, which could be done on the PS3 & XBox 360. This is because the PS3 & XBox360 would "burn" the tracks off the disc and download them to the hard drive, which the PS2 & Wii could not do. Now in regard to Rock Band 2 on all 4 systems, Harmonix did admit that their goal for Rock Band 2 was to just perfect Rock Band 1. That's why the 2 games look, sound and feel so similar. It is worth noting, however, that the greatest improvement of Rock Band 2 is the career mode or the world tour mode. In Rock Band 1, the only way to play the "true" tour mode was to play as a band, which required at least 2 players. The only way around this if you didn't have any friends willing to play Rock Band 1 was to do vocals + an instruments. Fortunately, Rock Band 1 did allow multiplayer voice chat devices as a vocals mic, at least for PS3 & XBox 360, but for the PS2 & Wii, as well as those who did not own a multiplayer voice chat device, your best bet was to go out a buy mic stand (which would be 3rd party because Harmonix never made one). Even then, it might be difficult to focus on hitting notes on the instrument and sing in pitch. Rock Band 1 did have a solo career, but it was the same career as Guitar Hero 1-3, where you just go from venue to venue playing a setlist, except this time, there's no encore! Rock Band 2 allowed solo players to play the true career/tour mode with just 1 instrument. RockBand 3 is the closest Harmonix ever came to making the same game for all 3 systems (they dropped PS2 for this one). The only exception is that RockBand 3 on the Wii can only receive imports from RockBand 2, whereas Rock Band 3 on the PS3 and XBox360 can receive imports from RockBand 1, RockBand 2, Lego RockBand and Green Day RockBand. Besides that, you have all the same feature on all 3 systems. And yes, I would agree that this is the best Rock Band game ever. I would have loved to hear your comments on Beatles RockBand and Green Day RockBand. Arguably, they did the band-centric music video game better than Guitar Hero.
If I was smart enough, I’d definitely make some upgrades if Rock Band 5 ever came out. 1. The drums would have 3 rubber pads and mesh pad for the snare drum, as well as an electronic kick drum tower that drummers would use an actual kick drum pedal, and the cymbal pads would be painted bronze like actual cymbals. 2. The guitar controller would be exactly like its predecessors, but would a sliding strip in between regular fret buttons and the solo fret buttons. 3. I’d also make a bass guitar controller for the game, larger body, longer neck, and there would be 2 little strum bars if anyone wanted to play the bass with 2 fingers. 3. The keyboard controller would be a bit longer and would have more keys. And just like the original keyboard controller, I’d make it so you could have a stand or you could get a strap and use it as a keytar. 4. The microphone would be wireless and weigh the same as an actual wireless mic. 5. As a bonus, I’d make it so that 10 people could play it at a time and they’d compete with each other. 2 guitars, 2 basses, 2 drum kits, 2 keyboards, and 2 microphones!!! I’d call the feature Battle of the Bands!!!!! 8. As a bonus, I’d make it so that each comes in 6 colors: black, blue, red, green, silver and gold!!!!!!
I played the shit out of Rockband back in the day. My mate had it we played it one night. The next day I went got my own. The day after that I could barely walk because I played the drums for a solid 15 hours straight. Ended up getting pretty good, I could 100% pretty much anything on expert. I wish they would bring it back for the PS5.
If you look at the rock band cover on the Wii case when he shows it to you, you see there's a EA symbol. I never play rock band the first rock band game I played was the fourth but I never knew rock band 1 was made with EA. ( Not that I'm saying I'm not playing it because EA was one of the people to make it)
Harmonix has a game on Switch called super beat sports. It’s nothing magical, but it’s definitely worth checking out at least once a year, it’s a care-free and fun game
Dude, don’t play the PS2 or Wii Versions of Rock Band 1 or 2 if you can’t play well with the highway or with the overdrive. Xbox 360 or PS3 are superior on those games. Also no, Rock Band 2 is not just the return of Rock Band 1. It has new features on that game, like Battle Of The Bands, Upgraded Local Tour, and Face-Offs on instruments.
I believed that there was a custom character maker in the xbox 360 or ps3 version of the first rock band, I dont know if I remember that it has it or not.
I actually own all 4 Rock Bands and I started my collection last year. I’m gonna be honest, Rock Band 4 has a better set list than most people say. I mean cmon, Panama (Van Halen), Hail to the King (Avenged Sevenfold), Somebody Told Me (The Killers). It’s hard for them to do more classic songs because they were mostly used in the other games. But with what they had, Rock Band 4 is decent. Here’s a recommendation for a DLC song: Dreams (Beck). Very fun song to play on any instrument by a very popular yet underrated solo artist
Rock band has always looked and run best on xboxes. I would recommend trying it on there, because most of the issues you have with Rock Band 1 on PS2 are fixed on Xbox 360. Try it out (this is just a recommendation not a complaint)
Update to CH coming soon with the whammy feature you want. Anyway thanks for this (AND THE GH) video! I didnt realize there were so many games after gh3 and rockband 1 l lmao...
Jokes on you, I played LRB on Wii. First and only Rock Band Game I played. I used to be able to play on expert difficulty. I still have the game, but I don't have the controller anymore.
I've never had any calibration issues with any of these games. I have Rock Band 1-3 on PS3 and RB4 on PS5 and XSX, PS systems are using a Guitar Hero World Tour guitar and the Xbox is using the RB4 guitar, and both manual and auto calibration seems to just work for me. Maybe it's something to do with your TV and/or console setup introducing extra lag?
I just recently got rock band 3, oddly expensive game, paid 45 bucks. Tracked down a pro guitar, looking for a regular guitar at a decent price (being sold for like 80 bucks at my local game store.)
I liked the guitar hero strum bar cause it made noise and helped with rhythm - the rockband guitar had the solo buttons for the solo sections which was super cool (until GH rivaled it with the World Tour guitar), comparing GH3 to RB1 I liked more GH3 songs but RB had a nice amount of songs too
I’ll say for sure, I like Rock Band 2 as #2 best, and Lego Rock Band as #1 best in my opinion. No joke, I’m not a fan of Rock Band 1, 3, and 4. Those games and Rock Band 2 and Lego Rock Band were the only ones I played before. That’s why on my channel I have more Lego Rock Band videos on there rather than any of the other Rock Band games I did. I think Rock Band 3 is too boring to play for me, and Rock Band 4 is the worst one in my opinion. On the 4th, I can’t even fucking hit the goddamn notes on Guitar with the Xbox One Guitar! No matter if I play on Expert or Hard, it’s not fun to me at all. Plus the character customization is too less. And Rock Band 3 does have better features, but the customization sucks only a little bit, because of the goals you have to complete to unlock certain clothing you want and the instruments. The worst part is some goals require using Pro instruments, and hell no, I will not spend money on those just to 100% complete the goals in Rock Band 3. It’s too advanced for me to deal with. Lastly, the reason I say Lego Rock Band is #1 in my opinion is because Rock Band 1, 2, and 3 doesn’t have an Auto-Kick Drum feature in any of them. Only Lego Rock Band and Rock Band 4 does. Also I can’t play Hard or Expert Drums without it. No matter what you say about practicing it, that won’t make me do it. So don’t argue about it in the comments, because I’m not going to. It’s too complicated and it’s my least favorite instrument, trust me.
I’d jailbreak my PS3 just for custom songs. I wasn’t able to get the RB2 export so if there’s a way to put the RB2 songs in RB3 via customs songs please let me know.
I’m pretty sure the pre-rendered background for RB1 is only on the PS2. The PS3 version 100% did not have that. Also the audacity to say star power is less intrusive and it’s easier to see notes 💀💀💀 not a chance in hell. Before I Forget in Guitar Hero 3 is so difficult because you can barely tell what’s what during the bridge
Well....Rock Band 3 Xbox 360 almost match to Clone Hero but the the downside is RB3 has 3,000 song limit. If you have RB3 for Xbox 360, then your in luck because you can get free DLCs, Exports, RBNs, and customs on your retail Xbox 360...no jtag.
I think you really fucked up by not getiing the HD versions of these games. That was really the way to go, the notes are way sharper and easyer to see. But you were mostly inn to guitar hero so i get why you diddn't get all the rock band stuff. I stuck with harmonix and enjoyd their games more, but to each his own.
I'm honestly not feeling this one. imo playing the inferior ps2/wii versions doesn't really bring justice on making a "retrospective" review to the games. Those versions had it's limitations that shouldn't be taken to account on their ps3/xbox 360 counterparts. (It's like if I did a retrospect on the first 3 mortal kombat games but I used the gameboy versions to do the review)

Rock band 2 was my shit. I played rockband 3 a lot but my dad got a new tv and calibration became an issue more and more. Plus that was around the time I started hanging out with friends outside of the house so I just stopped playing.
DID YOU TOUCH MY DRUM SET?
😂
The solo buttons let you play a solo in a song without having to strum at all.
god i should revisit rb3. sucks i can't find my wireless adapter tho lol.
(even worse considering i want a controller for clone hero)
ps check discord dms i dont think youll regret it
I grew up on the ps2 version. Honestly the same repeating background was fun, it made each song unique
I know you were being sarcastic but Lego Rock Band on the ds was my first game of the genre. Its probably just sentimental but I unironically love it.
And since this video came out, Clone Hero has only gotten better and better with each new update.
The Smaller Frets you can use for Tapping (during solo’s Yes even the normal notes
I believed that there was a custom character maker in the xbox 360 or ps3 version of the first rock band, I dont know if I remember that it has it or not.
It definitely did
Pro Guitar

Thankfully the whammy noise is finally implemented in the new ptb and also drums are supported
VideoGameWerehog theres more rock bands than 4
STUNTMEISTER67 I own all the MAINSTREAM ones. Sorry I didn't make that clear. But still, RB4 has a pretty good setlist
VideoGameWerehog *Pop Band 4
VideoGameWerehog I own rb1,2, beatles and almost all guitar heros myself
STUNTMEISTER67 hehe... I like it that you call Dream Theater, Rush, QotSA, and Avenged Sevenfold "Pop" bands. HA HAHA... HA HAHA HAHA!
i have over 10 thousand songs on clone hero, YOU GOTTA PUMP THOSE NUMBERS UP
Funnily enough these skrillex songs would actually fit if there was a keyboard...
him: "am i a DF member yet"
that killed me, LMAO
Rock band has always looked and run best on xboxes. I would recommend trying it on there, because most of the issues you have with Rock Band 1 on PS2 are fixed on Xbox 360. Try it out (this is just a recommendation not a complaint)
Update to CH coming soon with the whammy feature you want.
Anyway thanks for this (AND THE GH) video! I didnt realize there were so many games after gh3 and rockband 1 l lmao...
THE WHAMMY THING WITH THE NOISE IS ACTUALLY IN CLONE HERO NOW
Jokes on you, I played LRB on Wii.
Beatles rockband is the best
I just recently got rock band 3, oddly expensive game, paid 45 bucks. Tracked down a pro guitar, looking for a regular guitar at a decent price (being sold for like 80 bucks at my local game store.)
The Beatles rock band got barely any mention- that was my favorite rock band!
so you're telling Pete Wentz's weird CGI cousin was in Rock Band 3?
I liked the guitar hero strum bar cause it made noise and helped with rhythm - the rockband guitar had the solo buttons for the solo sections which was super cool (until GH rivaled it with the World Tour guitar), comparing GH3 to RB1 I liked more GH3 songs but RB had a nice amount of songs too
Tbh lego rockband is the best
Liam lol 😭😂 you did not just say that
I’ll say for sure, I like Rock Band 2 as #2 best, and Lego Rock Band as #1 best in my opinion.
Lego rb is just rb2 but I has More of a modern set list
Clone hero??
Now an actual game
the best version of guitar hero, free, super customizable, easy to get any songs and theres adapters to use basically any guitar you want
It’s actually a clone of gh
the first time i played rock band i was playing the drums and it was super fun
Happy New Years
And Mötley Crüe are great band
Didn't even bring up the fact that Rock Band 4 was not compatible with the older instruments without a stupid expensive adapter
The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are the best looking for rock band. I think it fixes the UI issues you have.
i have the rb4 official hardware and haven't had issues with calibration
It's truly 3rd times the charm for them
Rock band 1 on wii also had track packs btw
Bruh. The solo buttons were sick. Let's u do solo without strumming. Giving a cool high note solo feel
There’s a mod for whammy sound present day I think. If you join the CH Mods discord that’s one place you’ll probably find it
Rock band microphones are actually really high quality if you have em use em
Hmm interesting out of all 4 rockband 2 was my favorite 3 I didn’t like but I miss these games. Luckily clone hero exists
I gotta buy a microphone for rock band (i hope its official)
I’d jailbreak my PS3 just for custom songs. I wasn’t able to get the RB2 export so if there’s a way to put the RB2 songs in RB3 via customs songs please let me know.
NeverMindGaming I’m not sure about that have you looked up the dlc files
I sure have
youd have been better off with the 360 or ps3 versions

Hey What about Panama
Rock band 3 was awesome
hey danrock i think you forgot the rock band blitz a arcade rock band game that was avalible in xbox live arcade in 360 and ps network in PS3
Rock band i think was always a good series since 1. Great setlists and fun gameplay although hyperspeed was omitted
You forgot to compare Rock Band 3 to I think it was Guitar Hero 3 that was your favorite of that series
Rock band 4 got better over the past few years but still not what it should be
Yeah
Don’t remember any of your complaints for rockband 1.
If your like the early 2ks emo rock check out Lego rock band it's actually really good
No Rock Band Beatles & Rock Band Green Day????
"The main exceptions being 'I Miss the Misery' by Halestorm, and 'Centuries' by Fall Out Boy."
Me: Y e s
I heard hydrocity zone 2 in the back round
rb2 had pro drums too
I think you really fucked up by not getiing the HD versions of these games. That was really the way to go, the notes are way sharper and easyer to see. But you were mostly inn to guitar hero so i get why you diddn't get all the rock band stuff. I stuck with harmonix and enjoyd their games more, but to each his own.
U colorblind slightly?
I'm honestly not feeling this one. imo playing the inferior ps2/wii versions doesn't really bring justice on making a "retrospective" review to the games. Those versions had it's limitations that shouldn't be taken to account on their ps3/xbox 360 counterparts.
(It's like if I did a retrospect on the first 3 mortal kombat games but I used the gameboy versions to do the review)
1:44 is that a Noragami poster on your door?
I see the notes perfectly 😒
Tbh the Wii port looks like a Xbox port of rock band
Yes Clone Hero is the best, but I will still defend Lego Rock Band
Yarg will surpass clone hero
the beatles rock band :(
Understrumming????
Where da Beatles rock band
Hello to the 131 other comments out there
