I used to be one of those tech enthusiast who’d get really excited about hardware specs and the camera upgrades but the older I get I can see that in the real life they don’t make much of a difference in the day to day experience. Watching your videos and comparing my phone and my friends phones I totally get it now. I think I’ll stick to my XS max for another years or two. Just recently replaced the battery, the health was at 86% now back to 100% and it really gets through the whole day
I have a XR, and I’ve tried the 13 pro max at the Telus store. To be honest, the only differences I noticed were that it was slightly less comfortable to hold, and if I tried scrolling really fast, I could see the quickly moving text better. I’m sure there’s also the night mode and ultra wide camera, but to be honest, in all the time I’ve had my XR, I’ve never felt the camera to be lacking in any way.
The only reason I bought iPhone Xr in 2021 was because, I only care about performence and Xr does that well I seriously never use my cameras so I would say iPhone Xr or 11 would be the best to go for right now

I don’t know if you want to cover this in a follow up video but the A12 in the XS thermal throttles. Performance takes a huge hit when it’s doing anything intensive. Apple has addressed this, although it took quite a number of patches to prevent it from heating up but it still does it
ordered my iphone xs max from ebay for like 700 dollars on May 2020. Still in great condition love it. But Im planning of buying the 12 pro max near christmas time.
The only way getting the 12 “pro” max would be an upgrade, would be coming from a 5 or 6s plus. Otherwise their exactly the same. On paper it’s better, but software limits all iPhones to run literally exactly the same. The 8 is exactly as fast as the 12 “pro” max. The difference is a price tag and reverting 8 models backwards.

I appreciate the honesty. I don’t use my Xs Max on sim just on wifi, the experience has been great. For the 2 years before I had it on LTE and it was ok but definitely nothing I’d return the phone for. The experience now has been refined enough for me soo the Xs max still feels like the latest and greatest for me. Again I’m still holding until apple really takes a big leap. Till Then Xs Max 64gb for life🤣.

Honestly, I manage because I don't really use the camera unless I post it right away with my xs max so I don't need to save the picture. The iOS updates has given me extra space over the years as well. Even as my back up device now I still use it everyday. My one plus is really my work phone because of the bigger 🔋. I love the no notch design as well. I don't mind the notch much either tbh it just a tiny bezel to me.
Even though the upgrade isn’t all that in terms of pure specs, I really do appreciate the battery life of the 12 pro max, and the design. I bought it and couldn’t be happier. Although I will keep this phone for a while since I don’t think they can add anything to the new phones that will warrant an upgrade except maybe a 120hz display. But even then I don’t have a need for that.

My Xs Max is at 82% 🔋 health even after nearly 3 years of heavy everyday use. I’m surprised that it has not slowed down in speed even after all the videos I’ve recorded, high graphic gaming, and just may task manager.
I will hold on to my xs max if the 13 has the notch, I do like a pro motion display but if they don’t update the regular iPhone 13 with it then majority of people won’t have it anyways
I got a XS Max via the Amazon Renewed programme. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think you were unboxing a new phone. Pristine condition. 256Gb, Gold. US$350, or £300. Add that to a SIM only contract in the UK, where I’m from, at £16pm or US$22.50pm, and I’m set. I’m not gonna use all the new features of the new 12 pro max. I’m perfectly happy with my XS Max.
Try sites like Swappa or OfferUp. The one caveat that Nick didn't mention is condition, so yeah, likely not nearly mint condition with high battery health for $400 (esp for the 256 or 512 GB variants).
No way for $400 unless it is beat, scratched up and scuffed and battery health is on the toilet. The prices are more in the $500+ range for a 64GB XS Max that is actually worth buying with the least amount of scratches and wear. These XS Max’s have held their value pretty well after all these years because of the big OLED display and SS sides and nice cameras.
I have a XR, I’m not planning to upgrade until apple changes the design of the iPhone. They are all too similar. The only thing they have that I want is a better camera right now
I replaced my iPhone XS with the 12 pro max and I absolutely regret it. My 12 pro max constantly drops cellular connection. Verizon states it’s an Apple issue and Apple can’t recreate the problem so they won’t do anything either. Verizon said that this is very common with the 12 pro max. The square sides make the phone feel bulky and it’s too heavy. The only plus for me is the battery life. I bought a used iPhone 11 until I can upgrade with Verizon.
Hi, please how is the call reception on 11 compared to the 12pro max? It’s usually said that the 11 series has poorer call quality compared to the 12 series and your experiencing the exact opposite.I’m torn between both and that’s one of my considerations.

No the 12 is not better. Camera maybe but the phone on general seems worse. I still own both I kept my XS. Bought the 12 pro the week it came out. The touch screen is not as sensitive so if you want to draw with a stylus you cannot with the 12 without a great deal of problems. The XA is superior in touch and color.

At least iPhone 12 Pro Max has 5G while Xs max doesn’t have. Also telephoto lens of 12 Pro Max is 2.5 while Xs Max only 2x. But not worth upgrading IMO, but 12 Pro Max to 13 Pro Max, it is worth upgrading. Because 13 Pro Max has LTPO OLED, 3x Telephoto, superior battery life, etc.
My xs max has a broken back glass, the main camera doesn’t work and the lightning port is so loose that I can only charge it wirelessly Even with these issues I can’t get myself to upgrade

My xs max has a broken back glass, the main camera doesn’t work and the lightning port is so loose that I can only charge it wirelessly
