My sister and I were neglected by a server at a place we all went to a lot. I left a 2 dollar tip. The next time I came in, the server pointed me out to the bartender and told her. The bartender's response: " if he only left 2 dollars, the service must have been really bad." She got better after that. I hear. I don't go anymore since my sister went back to being a drunk who doesn't like me
Story #2. You did the right thing telling the manager. If the worker was fired then they had a history of of this in the restaurant and had been spoken to before I bet. It doesn't matter if the restaurant was a three star or a Mom and Pop café, sanitation is important in every restaurant.

Story 2: Yeah, that "family friend" didn't see the co-worker on the phone. "Family friend" just assumed and was fishing for an excuse to stiff on the tip. They probably only wanted to eat there because they were hoping for restaurant quality food with a family and friends discount attached--pay as little as possible. Simple opportunism.

Story 3: I saw the owner drop a container of whipped cream on the carpet in the dining room while taking it to the event table, he scooped it back in the container and put it on the buffet. I walked over, grabbed it and took it to throw it out and he FREAKED out..."We just had the carpets cleaned, it's fine...I know more than you do" I threw it in the garbage and stirred it in so he couldn't skim it off...he would have, I am sure.
Story 3: I have a slightly different take. If that server is being fired for dropping and re-using a lid, I'm guessing this is a somewhat problematic employee. It probably wasn't the first infraction, but the straw that broke the camel's back.
I'm a bit confused by how op said he would throw away the dish though? Like why throw away the entire thing if only the lid fell, it could be OPs wording and he means he would just throw away the lid but by saying the entire thing... It sounds like he would throw away the dish too.
@@demonheart13 my guess is that is in the context of a manager seeing the employee putting the lid back on the dish, which can pose a cross contamination risk. I.e. Any dirt that the lid picked up could have fallen into the food, not to mention just being a bad optic to the public even with no contamination. Had the employee just continued on without the lid, or retrieved a new lid, then I doubt there would be a problem.
I relate to the 3rd story. I was a manager at wendys and it was just before the dinning room closed when a customer walks in. One of the team members takes his order and walks back to begin making his sandwich. The first thing he does is grab the bun out of the bag with his bare hands that he just used to ring up the order and collect the cash. He did this directly in front of the customer and myself and proceeded to put it in the toaster like it wasnt an issue. I just stared at him for the 10-15 seconds the bun takes to toast and when he grabs it with bare hands again to assemble the sandwich I yell, "Are you fucking serious? You are not only touching his food with your dirty ass hands, you are doing it in front of him like you dont give a shit! Throw that out, wash your hands, put on gloves, and make his food. I shouldnt have to tell you this!" The customer just starts laughing and I make his sandwich while the team member was washing his hands. I think this employee might have been genuinely retarted. He seemed too dumb to be considered "normal." I dont know if he had any actual mental issues, but he is the primary reason I quit working there and now refuse to be a manager. Some more dumb shit he did was bring a 2 ft long bong to work, shoved down his pants and then showed it to me, his boss. I also had to physically drag him from the break area because he decided that our dinner rush was the best time to roll a blunt. I knocked it out of his hands and ordered him to get to work. I caught him climbing on top of food products, leaving black footprints on all the food packaging. The reason? He wanted to touch the ceiling. No other purpose. Just to touch the ceiling. We had normal, boring ass ceilings. He would show up hours late for work almost everyday. He would be scheduled for 4pm and wouldnt get there until 630. I would have to show him how to properly clean the grill every 2 weeks or so. He would do a good job at first, but then it got worse and worse until I re-showed him. The only reason he wasnt fired was because the GM never fired anyone. I told her a hundred times to fire him because he is a detriment to the businesses but she ignored me. After 4 months of him I quit. There were other factors, but he was a big one
That last story is oddly close to home for me, Im buying a home cause Im tired of renting and I want a place to myself, my dad is very against it and even told me how he will never come to see me because its too far North and the people up there think different. Now Im moving from Texas to Pennsylvania because I looked all over the US for a cheap home that would qualify for my 75k VA home loan and Penn just happened to be the place I found something. I feel bad leaving my dad behind cause he is 70 and the oldest living person in the family, if he passes I more than likely wont be here to see him off. He reminded me of how all my siblings have moved away, some only in North Texas but since my dad hates it there it might as well be the moon to him. Hes upset all of my sisters and Im pretty much the only daughter that lets his comments slide and just deals with it. I was the only one of his daughters that grew up with my father, and that was just barely since he worked in oil and was gone for months at a time, so maybe Im just used to him. Hes brought up a lot of things he thinks will be a problem for me owning a home and I agree it may be a lot for a young woman to have to handle on her own, especially one living on disablity. Hes even gone so far as to say Id come crying back when I cant handle everything, but I need a home, I need someplace stable. I grew up going from hotel to whoever my mom was dating at the time, to a childrens shelter, then a foster home, and when my dad finally got custody I was sleeping on a couch in a trailer, or sleeping in my aunts living room. Now Im an adult Ive been moving apartments and its getting to me because I want someplace I can settle down in, not like the housing situation is gonna get better right? So against my dads wishes and warning Im going through with the home buying cause it is what I want. Im probably pretty selfish doing it but I feel the need to. Ive got a lot of debt and this will put me further in, I get paid the same amount once a month, maybe I wont be able to do it but I'll try.
3rd story. The correct response to dropping a lid is to pick up the lid and put it in the dish washing section to get cleaned then get a new lid for the container. If that container was a special container which only one lid can fit on it, get a new container.
to the story where the girl arranged the "test". well. there are places, where the friend could have been shanked. I wonder if that would qualify as "passing the test".
It never fails to irk me when I hear that servers are only paid through tips. How dare a company hire someone and not pay them for the job they called people for? Your business would not work without them and you think paying them is not your obligation?
It's the way the law is written. Some cities and states require more. Minimum wage sucks too. I'm glad I live in Denver. If I can't afford to tip, I don't go out to eat. I always surprise the servers where I work because I always tip. They aren't used to coworkers tipping.
Uhhhh yeah... that first story, first off, call the cops, that's blatant fraud, then, call your provider company back and speak to the legal department and tell them you're suing them for breach of condition and that you need the recordings from your last phone call. If they ask why, tell them all about it, by the time you finish speaking, they will be sweating bullets and will be stumbling over each other trying to fix it.
Story #5: I'd bet good money that the OP's girlfriend and her guy friend that he almost got into a fight with have a long-spanning sexual history with each other if he isn't still smashing her and this is one of the games that they like to play with her new boyfriends. Chicks that do immature sh*t like this can be capable of some foul ass sh*t and see nothing wrong with it. Get out of there dude.
While she's wrong for testing him, your seriously reaching dude. Why would the guy you used to date help you pick out a new boyfriend? Especially if like you claim they are still smashing. Just because someone makes one bad decision doesn't mean they are horrible people or did it in purpose. Calm down
In case number one:. The guy should've told his Stepmother that it was HER fault that her son was a drug addict, cause she's an enabler. Case Two:. I wouldn't have said anything to the family friend if I was the owner! Just let it slide for the sake of the "friendship" with their parents. Rather, I would've tipped the waitress on their behalf myself and apologised to her for their rude behaviour. Maybe they have high standards or maybe they didn't have enough money to tip and tried to save face. Did you give them a small discount for choosing to support you and eat at your restaurant? Just don't say anything in future.
I have never understood why restaurants don't have to follow the federal minimum wage, it's super crazy to hear $2 an hour when the minimum in the US is $11 rn
#2 OP is absolutely in the right here, and the family friend is being unreasonable. Yes, it is generally expected that service staff do not keep their phones on them in shift, but there are reasons why some should. Examples include having a baby sitter looking after their kids, or a family member is in the hospital, or they need to do some quick math on the spot. There are a multitude of reasons why it should never be assumed that a server using their phone is doing it for bad or neglectful reasons. I'd actually go so far as to say the family friend never actually saw a phone, and this is a common abuse tactic that they use to put down other women they perceive beneath them. I've seen it in person before so I know it's possible
for the one with the testing GF: while it sounds messed up when written down, think of it as seeing someone you know out on a date and walking up to tease them and their date. If OP is uncomfortable about it he does not have to stick around but it seems like a college level prank.
Except the girlfriend was in on it so the only person who didn't know was op also gf testing bf isn't a prank it's a big red flag of insecurity I garuntee if op had been a more aggressive defender type and matched aggression there would have been a fight and if op had injured the friends gf would have been angry with him for escalating There is absolutely no reason to make anyone anxious about a fight that borders on emotional assault or outright harassment Even if it was as you claim a prank is have dumped a partner that did such a disgusting test
Story 4: feel a little bs from one side because she is literally taking at face value what a friend said instead of looking for proof too. Also the guy might be before they knew each other and forgot about it , as always happen. Edit: i read the updates, because it seems the thing goes beyond what she said as well. I think been doing this on APP is worst as well. The guy was after all a scumbag too, but so i suggest her to better herself up and stop using this kind of APP because she doesn't know who is an a-hole and who isn't.
It's nice that you consider a three star restaurant cleanliness higher in standard than a regular one 🙄😒. I wouldn't care if it was McDonald's, it's gross no matter where it happened at. 😑🤢🤮
The one about the doctor and the dating app... Try talking to him.... Maybe he was asleep... Also maybe he forgot to shut down that account? He may be the asshole he may n9t
With story for the guy was a surgeon the first red flag a lot of dudes know they're worth and they know that they can find another woman if they don't want to be with you that's your mistake
Dad gave a bad tip when he saw a server wipe a table with a rag she cleaned a dry off the bottom of her shoe. He told them why. (side note: it is said this crappy little restaurant "inspired" Taco Bell)
The restaurant guy should have been fired, because as stated in the story he has a history of this and he hasn't been listening to his bosses and is creating serious health hazards.
Y is this a thing that people need to tip the waitress otherwise they wont be able to make ends meet , like wtf how are they paid so little . How is this even allowed from the owners to pay their staff in peanuts essentially
Second Story: Not The Jerk, your "family friend" and parents owe you and the coworker an apology. If they were on their phone in the back, then that's not a reason to not tip someone. This so called "family friend" is a brown nose, and is not a friend if they're deciding to be toxic to someone for being on their phone in private, and your parents need to see that.
I agree with you but if you don’t want to tip Somone you don’t have to the note was rude and uncalled for but tipping use to be a reward now it a requirement and it shouldn’t be the family frend should just be able to say no tip not leave a rude note
When the time comes, there will refinancing deal available. While some times are better than others, if you're looking for a home, rather than an investment property, it usually doesn't matter as much because you are buying long term and the market will ebb and flow many times during your ownership.
It's not quite that simple. Long story short, tipped employees are guaranteed at least the Federal or state minimum wage, whichever is higher. Yes, the minimum wage for a tipped employee is often stated at much lower than the regular minimum wage, but that's assuming they make up the difference between that and the regular minimum wage in tips. For example, the Federal minimum wage for tipped workers is $2.13/hr. The worker is then expected to earn $5.12/hr in tips, bringing them up to at least the $7.25/hr regular minimum wage. If that doesn't happen, the employer is required to pay the worker extra in base wage to bring them up at least to the Federal minimum wage. States also have their own rules, with at least one requiring a tipped employee minimum wage to be equal to the regular minimum wage BEFORE adding in tips.
@@Nareimooncatt I think the state where there is no difference between the non-tipped and tipped wages has the right idea. Tipping culture in the US has gone out of control specifically because of this massive disparity and it needs to end. I still tip because this problem isn't going to be fixed from the bottom up--the _law_ needs to be fixed if we're going to be able to address the problem.
This doesn’t have to do with that story but I just wanted to say, Even if I get a rude server I still leave a tip, just because you never know what I’d going on just because they are rude to you that time doesn’t mean they are always rude, so I always try to look at it as maybe they are having a bad day
Srsly $2 per hour? Bro in my country waiter of servant has much more payment Because we consider "Services is a hard job" even small restaurant pay $5 per hour
For story 2: servers only make $2 an hour? That is literally illegal, the owners of those restaurants should be taken to court and forced to raise the wage to at least minimum wage, which is you know, the minimum *legal* amount you are allowed to pay your workers, so about $15/hour
Actually a restaurant can pay under minimum wage, minimum wage for servers and other tipped employees is $2.13 per hour as long as that wage and the tip accumulated per day hits a certain total hourly wage threshold. It is only if a server falls short of that is the restaurant required to pay more by federal law, but even if a server does hit the minimum, whatever the minimum is for that area, they still can be cutting it really close with how much they get total for their own living Edit: Should've included it, but the law stuff I got directly from the Department of Labor website
2nd story that main reason why never want be waiter in USA as don’t get paid any money for work you do and result it expects all money be pay out in tips but there people who do anything save even a little bit a cash including straight up lying as result waiter more often than not would be left in dangerous situations that can’t afford mess up or the be screwed for life.
In story 2 I think that the op/server should not have complained about geting no tip the note that was left was rude and uncalled for but the no tip part was understandable it’s not the customer who should be paying the servers it’s the resterant I don’t want to be having to pay extra for everything in the future your probability gonna have to tip your parents for raising you
2nd story: Waiter/waitress makes $2/hr BEFORE taxes and calls someone out of sight of the customers direct line of sight and not only do you NOT tip them but complain about them? What a dick move 4th story: If a woman did this, she'd be called a whore and be slut shamed, but a man does the same thing and it's "perfectly normal" and "expected." Can you say Double Standard? I knew that you could. 5th story: "Loyalty tests" prove nothing but how insecure the ones instigating them are, not how "faithful" someone you've known less than a day is. Leave her immediately. 6th story: It may not be the life the his mother wanted for him but it HIS life, not hers.
Is no one going to discuss that servers should NOT have to depend on their tips for their livelihood? Patrons are already paying for their food......they don't owe your staff their wages. This is incredibly exploitative when already servers have to deal with rude customers. Do better!
The restaurant industry needs to be rebuilt. I've worked it for 10 years, name a job title I've done it. Everything but cook. It's super toxic, super demanding, and you're doing a ton of work for very little.
I agree the note was wrong, but people don't have to tip calling her out for not tipping. It is wrong. yall should pay her more than relying on the customer to help they pay it, not our responsibility
Nah, dawg. If your only excuse is "They were on their phone in an area where customers shouldn't have been looking", to not tip, you're just an asshole
Going out to eat at a restaurant is a LUXURY not a need! say it with me kids- ITS A LUXURY. If you cannot afford said luxury make food at home or fast food like everyone else. You go in understanding/knowing you're supposed to tip. If you do not agree with that, then you do not support restaurants, and you should not go, I promise no one would miss you.
@@RealJacior LOL I am not a restaurant owner, but you obviously know they dont give a shit. It is a LUXURY to eat out at a restaurant, tip your server or cook for yourself. OR tell you server ahead of time that you aren't tipping, only fair.

If I can't afford to tip, I don't go out to eat. I always surprise the servers where I work because I always tip. They aren't used to coworkers tipping.
It’s a shame that servers have to rely on tips to make a living
Yea
Calm down
if my siblings did something like that to me I would honestly tell them to K.Y.S
No. Absolutely the FUCK not. Not confronting the friend about their crappy behavior enables them to continue it.
no offense you sound like absolute doormat
you critisize the first story for enabling behavior then you encourage that behavior, make up your mind
Story 3: i also had a family member who didnt have a long term relationship until around 35. The wedding is in august and am excited to see him happy.
I truly hope you have gotten away from your family and have nothing to do with them. Sounds like a mess
I have never understood why restaurants don't have to follow the federal minimum wage, it's super crazy to hear $2 an hour when the minimum in the US is $11 rn
living in a country where restaurants pay minimum wage and tips are just that, tips, it really seems crazy
Story2: In their position I would have banned that so called "friend"... as the saying goes: "who needs enemies when you have "friends" like this?"
Story 4: MAJOR red flag.
Why didn’t he just call the police lol
THAT PICTURE 😭💀
Well, with S1.
The telco can easily file a police report since they delivered the phones to an address.
Y’all have a spotify podcast?
Yup, Am I the Jerk is available on Spotify! 😊👍💝
Story 5: leave, big red flags
you are a genius for the way you run this channel lmao
Mh what's better than to listening to reddit story's while playing totk
The world paying hourly, America for some reason: “PAY US AFTER PAYING FOR YOUR MEAL!
for the one with the testing GF: while it sounds messed up when written down, think of it as seeing someone you know out on a date and walking up to tease them and their date. If OP is uncomfortable about it he does not have to stick around but it seems like a college level prank.
You mean seeing it in a way it wasn’t?
It was planned and could have ended with a broken jaw or worse
@@Theproclaimed most pranks run that risk. I don't like pranks but there are far worse ones out there
Okay but this could have ended very badly. If you're so insecure to feel the need to test your partner like this then you shouldn't be dating period
Except the girlfriend was in on it so the only person who didn't know was op also gf testing bf isn't a prank it's a big red flag of insecurity
I garuntee if op had been a more aggressive defender type and matched aggression there would have been a fight and if op had injured the friends gf would have been angry with him for escalating
There is absolutely no reason to make anyone anxious about a fight that borders on emotional assault or outright harassment
Even if it was as you claim a prank is have dumped a partner that did such a disgusting test
story 4: frankly that was a jerk move.
That sarah test was a massive red flag. Run. Run away.
Yeah, dad's saying that because HE was either cheated on or DID the cheating.
Story 5 that flag is crimson.
Bumble is also used for dating, making friends, or finding business. So it confuses me on this story a bit
It's nice that you consider a three star restaurant cleanliness higher in standard than a regular one 🙄😒. I wouldn't care if it was McDonald's, it's gross no matter where it happened at. 😑🤢🤮
Tipping would not be needed if they had good enough wages. It is their fault that they don t talk to their boss for a decent wage.
Story one I want to hear and update assuming if there’s any
The one about the doctor and the dating app... Try talking to him.... Maybe he was asleep... Also maybe he forgot to shut down that account? He may be the asshole he may n9t
I would have blocked him xxx
With story for the guy was a surgeon the first red flag a lot of dudes know they're worth and they know that they can find another woman if they don't want to be with you that's your mistake
He'd go jail
Calling the guy in story: 1 a piece of garbage is an insult to garbage everywhere
Wow just toxic people wow
Dad gave a bad tip when he saw a server wipe a table with a rag she cleaned a dry off the bottom of her shoe. He told them why. (side note: it is said this crappy little restaurant "inspired" Taco Bell)
The restaurant guy should have been fired, because as stated in the story he has a history of this and he hasn't been listening to his bosses and is creating serious health hazards.
besides, if you ever work with food, ya know that if it hits the floor, its no longer usable
as the story says, you never know who's watching
November 18 is rn Yay
Y is this a thing that people need to tip the waitress otherwise they wont be able to make ends meet , like wtf how are they paid so little . How is this even allowed from the owners to pay their staff in peanuts essentially
is that ticklemytip at the first 3 seconds
On story#1 , I hope she reports this to to police, even IM 13 and I know THATS ILEGAL
I don’t understand why people treat servers are garbage
Dam rec room kinda lookin different today
How many people said first 💀
6 people💀
First
Alot of unoriginal people 🤡
💀💀💀
story 2: bullshit that the family friend saw anything. good on you to tell them off. if you dont want to tip, then don't DINE IN. go to mcdonald's.
Op in last story literally moves in their new house on my birthday lmaooo
When the time comes, there will refinancing deal available. While some times are better than others, if you're looking for a home, rather than an investment property, it usually doesn't matter as much because you are buying long term and the market will ebb and flow many times during your ownership.
story 2 what baffales me is why waiters are told to survive only on tips... and not even pay minimum wage
This doesn’t have to do with that story but I just wanted to say, Even if I get a rude server I still leave a tip, just because you never know what I’d going on just because they are rude to you that time doesn’t mean they are always rude, so I always try to look at it as maybe they are having a bad day
Con you tell story#3 OP happy home owner cuz it's Nov 11
It is only if a server falls short of that is the restaurant required to pay more by federal law, but even if a server does hit the minimum, whatever the minimum is for that area, they still can be cutting it really close with how much they get total for their own living
Edit: Should've included it, but the law stuff I got directly from the Department of Labor website
@@RGCAkamaru how Tf is minimum wage for servers $2.13? That’s only $17.04 in a 8 hour shift
2nd story - 2 dollars an hour? How does that work?
Right to work States only pay servers 2.13 an hour.
@@Joy-bi5fi isn’t minimum wage like 15?
@@FanGirl0721 not in "right to work" states.
@@Joy-bi5fi Ah. Ok. I knew it was bad but I didn't know it was this bad
Not really to bad, I am a server in the south and I average between 25 to 40 dollars an hour.
I would contact my brother again to let him know that he is being sued for fraud
In regards to the 2nd story, please name the state were slavery is still legal. 2$ and they survive only on tips?
What the hell.
I've been in about 4 long term relationships. I got cheated on in two so not everyone but more then expected
Story 3: So what the father really means, is that OP should become a lesbian.
Why aren't servers payed anything? Are they meant to work for free??!?
Does anyone else think he kinda sound like Quandale dingle? Idk why i think this lmao
In story 2 I think that the op/server should not have complained about geting no tip the note that was left was rude and uncalled for but the no tip part was understandable it’s not the customer who should be paying the servers it’s the resterant I don’t want to be having to pay extra for everything in the future your probability gonna have to tip your parents for raising you
Yessir
lol you have Took the W for being first
@@shrek9886 thanks shrek how's the swamp?

Story #3 I have been in this situation and It is messed up, Don't date her
2nd story: Waiter/waitress makes $2/hr BEFORE taxes and calls someone out of sight of the customers direct line of sight and not only do you NOT tip them but complain about them?
What a dick move
4th story: If a woman did this, she'd be called a whore and be slut shamed, but a man does the same thing and it's "perfectly normal" and "expected."
Can you say Double Standard? I knew that you could.
5th story: "Loyalty tests" prove nothing but how insecure the ones instigating them are, not how "faithful" someone you've known less than a day is.
Leave her immediately.
6th story: It may not be the life the his mother wanted for him but it HIS life, not hers.
I mean would he did was appalling but I wouldn't if I were in his place I probably just simply washed it dried it and then put it then put it back
First story, we'll ops brother's is definitely liberal he should be glad about I guess.
Hi
Don’t do “tests” to people. It’s stupid as hell
No, stop this. PAy your staff, stop being greedy.
@@RealJacior LOL I am not a restaurant owner, but you obviously know they dont give a shit. It is a LUXURY to eat out at a restaurant, tip your server or cook for yourself. OR tell you server ahead of time that you aren't tipping, only fair.
Tipping is really really stupid
That's not true Maybe two maybe 3% actually cheat
"Poor guy"? "Underpaid"? Where did you get that info from? Why are you making him the victim?
For all we know he did this multiple times and probably just don't care...
