    I sharpened the end of a long 3/8" wooden dowel and from the outside, I spread open the lower back vent on the side of the unit to allow the dowel to slide in. I then created a new drain hole twisting the dowel through the back foam down low. Immediately all the water trapped in the inside came rushing out.

    I have the same a/c and had the same problem. There are appropriate cleaners available on Amazon etc... the bleach rusts steel out.

      The bleach was only to kill the slugs. I clean the outside coils and exterior parts every year. I suggest wrapping the outside with outdoor screen mesh for a screen or storm door to keep insects and slugs out.

    I suggest wrapping the outside with outdoor screen mesh for a screen or storm door to keep insects and slugs out. Do not cover the rearfacing couls, only the top, bottom, sides and drain area. Use self-tapping screws and fender washers. Remove them before using it, and flush it out really good. Sprinkle table salt inside. Slugs and snails die from salt. If they do get it, they will probably hit it and die. After cleaning, wrap it back up again.

    Does this technique applies to the Frigidaire “Through the wall air conditioner “ as well?

    • @Ferret488
      @Ferret488  3 месяца назад +1

      More than likely. All air conditioner have condensate on the coils that eventually defrost as water and has to drip out. It is the same for refrigerators and freezers. Your house air conditioner does the same thing.

    Completely off topic but I have the same unit and lost the manual. How do you have your vent tab set? I never understood that.

    • @Ferret488

      I leave mine so it is closed. If it is cool outside and you just want air, pull once. To vent to the outside, pull all the way out.

      Call a floor refinished? Or, sand it down yourself. I had the same issue. I placed a plastic bin below mine to catch the water, but some still got by.

      @@Ferret488 well that's a funny coincidence, I literally had to clean this out today because it started dripping. My mother said the flooring buckles would go back by itself when it dried out, never did. I'll attempt a repair myself.

      @@yankeeshrapnel I would keep a large bin on the floor in front of it, just in case it does it again.
