I started learning Russian 5 months ago and it has completely changed my life. Ever since I went to Ukraine I have fallen in love with this language and I would get so jealous of my Russian speaking friends. Everything you said in this video is true. I started from learning the alphabet and now I can carry a somewhat decent conversation. My grammar is horrible when I speak, but I do not care because they can understand me. I cannot expect myself to speak perfect grammar in just a few months time it will take me a couple of years. But the fact that I am able to get to a speaking point is so incredible for me. I made learning Russian a part of my life. I have apps on my phone that constantly show me new words and I am always reading short sentences out loud wherever I am at doesn't matter. I have Russian radio on as much as I can, I listen to Russian music, and I watch Russian T.V. I feel that the sounds are so important to me and constantly hearing the sounds and how the Russian speakers pronounce words has helped me so much. The LAST thing that helped me so much was the fact that I was never scared to speak Russian to anyone who spoke the language. Even when I only knew a few words I would try to use them. I would always try to talk to everyone even though I was horrible. They did not care they were happy that I tried to speak their language and I tried to understand their culture and they helped me. I wonder what my Russian will be like after just 1 year =]
Great video! I was relieved to see you suggest 200 to 400 hours of building up vocabulary. I tried to rush into Phase 2 by watching "Masha and The Bear" and I couldn't keep up with it at all! If I actually count up the hours I have probably only done 60-70 learning words and grammar, so it is re-assuring that this was way too soon to try Phase 2.
Dear Denis, I like your video - particularly breaking down the stages. I will like you to think of a combined way - I used to teach it to my nephew. I start with one word and then develop it, by adding small and simple words. Like -Cat - white cat - black cat. Then white cat sleeps. Then White cat runs. and so on... Then White cat is chasing a rat. White cat is chasing a bus. white cat is playing in the playground. White cat is climbing a tree. and so on... The sentences slowly lengthen and it combines both phases together - small examples from normal day life. You may like to think of this. Warm regards.
то чувство, когда ты русский и тебе приятно видеть это))) хотел вообще посмотреть видео на английском языке для изучения английского языка, но тут я нашёл это))) на душе даже приятно)))
Today is my first time here ,and the reason am here is i live and work for russian family and when something is wrong i find it difficult to no ,the most painful part is some times when i tell the truth it turn to be lies becos i cant explain my self and hear what is said about me😕😕
I'm just starting some college classes in Russian. If I practice and work at it I should be able to be proficient enough to start enjoying Russian media by this time text year.
if anybody have a wish to speak with me in russian in skype to train his speaking skills, just reply me. I really need a person who is able to speak english 'cause i prepare for the exam and it would be nice for me to train english and good for you to train russian (sry for my bad grammatic)
Hallo Птица , After a year, I suppose you took your English examination, hopefully with good results. But independently of your exam, learning a language is a long lasting task and it all depends on the way you approach the study of this language. “Übung macht den Meister” as the Germans say. That’s really true and I like adding that one should study for the time he feels like, but every day. Learning is a challenge. With ourselves. Go on and trust yourself. Nino Tordonato
If Russian grammar is hard and makes u quit don’t just learn vocabulary Russians can understand what ur saying anyway and u will eventually learn everything.
hello, I am moving to Russia in fall. do you have any advice how to increase retention, knowledge and quickest way for speaking so I am not completely frustrating my husband? or will simply living daily in russian environment quickly improve speech. I am Czech by nationality but have lived in America for a very long time. so most pronunciation is relatively easy (in most cases) I am only worried I may have language adaptation overload when I move. example: in America I always heard the word 'я понял' as "уа роn-YA-l" but that is not correct because he always pronounced different, so I asked my husband, bear in mind he does not speak English. one day I asked him what is this word, and I wrote what I heard "я пОйно" he wrote it and I was so shocked that all this time in America it was not pronounced properly. I really felt embarrassed and dumb. there is a very big difference I think from Russian pronounciation in America and in Russia and because of this is why I worry or have a little anxiety. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. I am asking how not to have language culture shock between two forms of Russian pronunciation between americanized Russian versus Russianized Russian . if that makes sense. I typically now I have to try to drown out and ignore bad pronunciation and only focus on good untill I move in fall
You heard "ya ponyal" properly (accent on the first syllable). However, to be more precise, YA (Я) not under stress sounds as short i, but since it is not under stress you will not see the difference. So, it will be "ya pOnil", but "ya pOnyal" is also good. So in this situation, you felt dumb unfairly. All your other concerns are similar. They have no true ground. Definitely, you will have an accent but there will be no any culture shocks or something like that. The best way to learn Russian is to spend more time learning it. Living in Russia will of course speed this process up.
Русский язык является жесткий язык, чтобы узнать, что мои родители являются русский, переехал в Канаду, затем меня. I thought i would learn some by watching kids cartoons in Russian (Masha and some others) but I find it hard to understand due to the cartoony voices.
