- Part 2 is here: • How to study the BIBLE...
How you ever wondered how to study the bible? This Branch Together video opens up the inductive bible study method, using three parts: Observation, Interpretation, and Application. At the end of each section, pause the video and follow the prompts on the screen to practice this way of reading the Bible. We are thankful for the care Intervarsity Christian Fellowship/USA and Lindsay Olesberg have taken to teach and produce some of the questions and methods we’ve used here. Get something out of the Bible! And have fun. There’s treasure waiting for you to uncover!

I started reading How to Study Your Bible a couple weeks ago. My mom got it for me for Christmas. So happy to hear about someone else who is using this method too. Thanks for sharing! 💕
Great to hear! Let us know how the book helps in your study. See you again soon!
How is your Bible study going? Any videos you would like to see us make to help you?
Y’all are so sweet! I’m enjoying my study of 1 John right now. It’s amazing how inductive bible study has changed the way I understand scripture. I love that it doesn’t depend on other people’s writings but it helps to let scripture define itself. This prevents you from depending on others who may be influenced by sin, the culture, false prophets, etc. Thank you for checking up with me! I will think about it. Right now I’m thinking about getting a journaling Bible and just filling it up, using colored pencils and coding the words to help find common themes. Any practical videos like that would be helpful. I know it’s something that’s highly individualized but it’s always nice to see how other people do it. Thanks! :)
Awesome - we have a session soon to discuss future content like this. Thanks for the input! And 1 JOhn is great - I mean, the whole Bible is great!! Keep studying!
thanks so much!

Thank you so much.
This is helpful, thanks!

Thank you!
Very good! Thank you.
Wow 500 views. This is Super helpful. I like the idea of setting a timer and focusing on 2 paragraphs at a time to get more out of it.
We need to watch this 22 more times to get to 1k
Matt watched it 22 more times and got it there :)
Y’all are so funny! 😂

Thank you.
Awesome!
Thanks for your simple yet impactful bible study process. I know this is a couple of years old but could you provide a printable of the Observation, Interpretation and Application slides that viewers can print out and just tuck into our bibles, please? Thanks either way.
InterVarsity rocks!
Bless you.
Can you put notes from each of the OIA in a document for us to download and keep handy while going through the Word?
INTERVARSITY REPRESENT!!
Great video! I was curious about the version of Bible you used in your tablet in the video. A Bible without chapter and paragraph divisions is desirable. May I ask what version are you using and could you recommend a Bible like that I can buy online or something? Thanks.
I never heard of TIGHT before, that's a really good!
Thanks 🙏
Great
I feel like I'm looking in the mirror, u describe me perfectly.
Hey, Jenna. I know this is way late, but I only found your video today. I got the Blue Letter Bible, but I don’t know how to do the split screen like you have. Also, what colors are what?
May the Lord guide you all. So we can all be like Jesus. Thank you God ❤️
Hey Branch together is it ok if you write a small summary after you finish reading your passage
What bible app do you have, the ones I have you can highlight the verse only. I would like that bible app you have so I can highlight one word only. Thank you
Does this work the same if your reading like several chapters then journal after?
3:11 I studied these things in Screenplay 💥
Where can I find that coffee mug?
Hi Jenna , I am trying to figure out the BLB I don't know how you get the highlighters
hey Claire! so the program i'm using in the video on the screen with highlights, is called Logos. that one is a pretty in depth expensive resource, mostly used by pastors. For free, i love using blue Letter bible app as a resource for looking things up- but not necessarily highlighting and maintaining notes on a scripture passage (i don't think it does that). i really prefer my paper bible or printing it out and scribbling anyway. hope that helps!
Take your time and leave room to apply - thank you
This popped up in my feed tonight. Saddened to see that no new videos have been posted in a year. Hope everything is ok.
I have a beep in my ear. I can't concentrate well when I'm reading. Please pray for me. I've been having it for almost six months now.
Just found your channel and watched this and part 2). The app your using in this video; how did you create your highlights and study coding. That is something I struggle with with online Bibles. Your seems clear and precise and directly to the right, readily accessible to use in your highlighting of places, repeated words, etc. if willing, could you do a video on how you did that ( set up your “ legend “)
Thank you in advance for any advice and how to.
nevermind….after googling and trial and error, realized it's logos 8 basic bible software
Sorry we missed your comment. Yes, we use Logos 8. Would you like some videos on how to use that? We may be able to make some.
Branch Together that would be awesome. It’s not as intuitive as I hoped. Some 101 would be very helpful. Thanks for replying
I know how to do my PBS with the same technique through UESI
Good
Is this using the inductive study bible
Hi Jenna. Does it matter what colors you use when color coding the bible? Thanks!
I bought "How To Study Your Bible" by Kay Arthur, David Arthur, and Pete De Lacy. It says to take the Bible literal. But what if it's symbolic or metaphor instead? With all due respect. I'm currently 47 and a half years old and I have adult ADHD too, which makes it difficult to remember much unless I'm using mnemonics. It was worse when I was younger, I was always in special ed classes and still had trouble sitting still and understanding too. I think I wasted most of my life not studying the Bible. Would it be better to listen to the Bible on cds?
Listening is a great idea! And yes many part of the Bible should be taken literally, but you are exactly correct that some parts are metaphor, poetry or hyperbole.
What program are you using in your tablet?
Logos Bible Software
hai sister I would like to read 📖 and study about the Holy Bible give me some suggestions
charan seelam maybe start with Matthew because it’s almost Advent. Or Luke. Engage in the Christmas story!
Right now on branch together we are going through the letters of John- check it out and follow along
thank you sister
Gorgeous
Make a video explain historical literary and Theological
Please you very explicit
What software are you using on you tablet/laptop?
That's the Microsoft Surface Pro running Logos Bible Software. We used Camtasia to get the screen capture.
Will I be able to use Apple Pencil with my 6th gen iPad to do the marking.
Not sure. You could check with Logos about thirty software. We assume yes because we use the Surface Pro and it's pen.
Most important is to pray Because bible is written by the Holy Spirit. So, only Holy Spirit can give us deep revelation. Don't let human wisdom interfere.
Jenna (hope I have your name correct).
I have been using something very similar to the OIA method for many years. My question is: If we all use a similar method of study, why do we arrive at different understandings?
At the end or should I say beginning of our understanding is the holy spirit. He knows what we need to glean from the word and gives us accordingly as we need it according to our need, dept in Christ and were we nèed to go in life
@@simonehannaf
I think you misunderstand my question. Maybe an example would help refine what I'm speaking about. What does this verse mean?
19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. (Gal 2:19)
Using the OIA method and expanding the selected passages if you want. How do we make sense of this verse in context?
HI IAM CRISTIAN SO SH ARE THE TICHING THE BIBILE MOVEMENTS god biles you contyineyu
First and last true help to understanding His Word.... ASK HOLY SPIRIT! His Word is living, meaning He can show you different things for the same passage on different days.
This book is unlike any other, it is Powerful, Love, Alive, and full of Promises for those who love Him.
Not sure you know if you love Him? Keep His Commandments is what His Word says! Those who are led by His Spirit are sons! You can tell a good tree by its fruit. So to be His you will eventually start having fruits of the Spirit.
Everyone else is just His creation, not concerning themselves with loving Him.
And even if you think you understand ask Holy Spirit to guide you!
I use blue letter bible!
Thank you for this comment! I forgot the name
Where can I find these tips written down?
Not anywhere yet, but great idea. We should post on a blog.
The New Inductive Study Bible
Good content, but why the music all the way through? Doesn’t this distract and send a mixed message - that this would be boring without music? It’s too much. Hopefully 🙏 you change this. God bless. ❤
1 John 2:20,27 KJVS
[20] But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. [27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Let the Holy Spirit teach you and avoid the doctrines of man.
Ephesians 4:14-15 KJVS
[14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [15] But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Together 21000
But some people r. Not understand the Bible
The Bible is dead without THE HOLYGHOST
If you have not the Spirit of Christ indwelling Holy Spirit
learning scriptures will do you no good
The Living Word meaning JESUS CHRIST wants a relationship with you
Do you want a relationship with a book or do you want a relationship with the living Christ?
Yeas, do you know the time line, from the beginning of creation until the flood. ?? Do you know anything about the Time frame from moses until until Jesus. ?? It's all about history. So try to work along with the science. That way you will understand the truth. As science is proof.
Enjoy reading the Bible. However, it should responsible to note The bible is a book mostly written by men who never even met the people they wrote about (many years after). It is also heavily edited and censored by a church that had a power and politics agenda, eliminating around 14 books (the Apocrypha). In addition, there isn't just one Christian bible - there are at least three with different numbers of chapters. There exists no provable, fact-based evidence to support any of the supernatural (spiritual) events in it. Thus, it is pure human belief - a human emotion and dependent on as many human thoughts as there are humans. To believe without factual evidence is like saying a court case should be determined by only hearsay or a feeling. It's hard to think God wouldn't hold humans to a standard that they hold themselves. ANYTHING supernatural or spiritual that is taken from the bible is hearsay, feelings, beliefs, hopes, and tales of imaginations, and not proven with evidence.
Thank you.
Thank you.
