Why can’t nobody do a tutorial on it and show black women how to do it if it’s so great! I hate that it has to be top secret and so hidden.

Mrs. Melissa Blake is a sweetheart and a wealth of knowledge. I love my small locs-I have sisterlocks too-but the time has come where I have to do something different. Not afraid of change. Knotted locs is a movement and it’s not going to appeal to everyone. But for those who have joined, self included, it’s a game changer and I’m happily embracing it.

I have had my DIY small locs for 15 years started with braids and maintained via the interlock method up until almost 3 years ago when I decided to use the same knotting method that I had already been using to repair weak spots in my locs.
Despite a few hiccups, I'm loving it and wish I had done it way earlier in my journey. However, back when I started my locs or when I discovered by accident that knots work for my locs.

I’m still on the fence about knotted locs but I’m looking forward to seeing how it works out for everyone. I love the new conversations around microlocs, they are very much overdue. It would be great to see everyone start to organically find their own method the same way you have ❤

I get it. We use glue to hold the end of human hair braids together all the time to stop it from unraveling. We use glue to bond itip extensions to our hair, we use bonding glue on our weaves to glue it to our hair, we use lace wig glue on our edges. I really don’t see the issue, it’ll just end up disintegrating anyways and by that time it’s served its purpose, the hair is locked . I’m not mad at the glue thing tbh.

    • @chyname
      @chyname 3 месяца назад +1

That's used on hair extensions, not hair growing from your scalp. You won't to be able to get the glue out of your locs. Probably can't really wash it properly, due to that. The chemicals may lead to breakaga also . Glue is horrible . I would say to knots are ok, but cause more weight on your locs so , becareful. I prefer using a crochet hook f9r micro locs.

I've had my own diy microlocs for a little over 2 years now. I started off retwisting then i transitioned to the 2-point interlocking method. But now that I'm being birthed into my newest journey of motherhood, i realize i don't like the rigidity of interlocing. My locs start marrying after about 8 weeks and i really dont wanna be sitting down for 2-3 days, using a tool, worrying about my parts 6-7 times a year! Im over it. It feels like im being pressedd into a box with my hair all over again.
Learning about knotted locs and seeing you come up with your twice-a-year method was a revelation for me. I restarted my locs because I wanted to be free and i think that both of you are giving different avenues to do so. Love you and love the channel!!!

And yeah I definitely want microlocs ... Started them before, kept them for 6 months but took them out coz when they swelled and settled I realized they were actually thicker then I wanted
I'll them again now that I know how my hair swells

I have always maintained my own hair loose or locked. I am very interested in understanding new methods such as knotted loc’s But I am having difficulty understanding or seeing knotted loc's.
at this present time, I am using a modified method inspired by you in which I use the crochet needle to instant lock my new growth and a adhesive/superglue in order to maintain well manicured loc’s.🎉

After using the crochet needle to instant loc the new growth I have no need to use the super glue.
I make sure to finger comb my loc’s to keep them free from marrying. This method is much faster than interlocking my waist length micro loc’s.

@@jamesbennett8637hmm could you elaborate on what you mean by instant locking the new growth with the crochet needle? How do you do that?

@@gardenflower620this video will show you how the crochet method is used to retighten your loc’s.
      ruclips.net/video/GvZJUIiePgs/видео.html&si=8s8X2B0mDkBGqven
My loc’s grow very fast and are too long to comfortably interlock by pulling the ends thru the new growth at the root. I also did not need to use adhesive after I crochet the new growth.
I used the 3 pronged crochet hook to crochet my loc’s because with practice the the 0.35mm 3 pronged crochet hook is much faster to instantly lock your new growth.
✨please let me know how you feel about this method when you try it. 😊👍🏾
