Love the artist, can't say the same about the host.
Be great if you interrupted a bit less, Eric
Really, let the artist speak
Really appreciate Eric bringing so many artists together and I like the informal conversation between him and the artists. His comments and questions are often the same ones I would have!
One of my favs of the series, right up there with ryan jensen. Thanks Chula!! Always great to learn from someone with a background in education, its not easy teaching! Values are so interesting
New painter here: As usual, a great choice of instructor - really helpful lesson
Thank you, Chula! This is the best lesson I have watched about selecting correct values. It's easy just using black to white, but much harder when using colour ~ I shall be making, and using, "Chula's Value Strip" from now on! Thank you too, Eric.
Wonderful exercise showing how you apply values. I love the painting "tools" you use in plein air. I'll have to make some of the value strips up.. Thank you Chula! Thank you Eric Rhodes.
I saved this one in with my watercolor tutorials. Values, as she explains it, is so understandable!
Chula, that was a masterful explanation of your process and my takeaway is to really commit to a disciplined focus regarding the value plan. Great stuff, Eric!
Nice he is providing this video. He try to make it about him. Nice job Chula.
I'd rather the host not interrupt so often. But I do enjoy this series.
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Mary Jabens taught me the 4 planes and of course John Carlson.
Terrific!
Too bad, it was hard to follow due to so many interruptions. Chula, you’re a wonderful artist. Nice job hanging in there and dealing with Eric’s arrogance.
Wonderful tutorial!
Very usuful lesson! Thanks a lot❤
Hello from Arizona.
Great demo.....
Thanks for the great demo. It looks like your paint goes on SO easily, whereas for me it requires a great deal of effort just to get the paint onto the surface. Maybe it's the type of canvas? Or paint brand? Or brushes? I dunno. What kind of canvas are you using here?
Please test a vivid color like red or yellow on the value scale as I tried the squinting with red and nothing that I mixed “faded into the grey scale
Please cannot seem to find the app about values that you mention?
PBI NotanIzer in App Store.
Also I’m a big fan of the app Value Studies.
But there is a free, similar app called «value study» as well, I see
Notanizer. Or GridPainter (has Notanizer embedded). Apple App Store. A few dollars. Worth it.
Didn't see link to book...?
I think Eric you are looking for something that is not there. To me it looks like the trees were done in same colour as the mountains and then painted dark value. Just not all of the trees were covered.
Vous etes une tres belles femmes
unless the sun is lower in the sky...
red is in a mid value.
