Hiromi Uehara is one of the most talented jazz pianist I've ever had the privilege of hearing live. This recording was made in Benevento (Italy) on July 22, 2023 at the Roman Theater and this was a second call for an encore: people rushed under the stage with bated breath. Note that at minute 4:50 she duets with the tolling of the cathedral bells which suddenly begin to ring in the background

The song is called "Blue Giant" from the anime movie which she composed the sound track. I think "Blue Giant" movie will arrive soon in cinemas in Europe and U.S. The bell moment is so magical and I guess is what inspire her to play some notes of her song "Place to be" there at 4:50 to later on continue with the ending of "Blue Giant". An absolute joy to watch this ! Thank you!!

I found her via The Consouls who do amazing vgm jazz covers which are well worth checking out as they pay homage to the cleverness of so much vgm that originated from Japan (their keys guy is a fan of hers).

And also Blue Giant movie is grateful one that I went to theater at tokyo few month ago. I Strongly reccomend for watching at theater. I feel Hiromi's passion at the bgm on that. 😊

This is my favourite song of her so far of all her discography. Very inspired and full of contained emotion. Only Hiromi is capable of creating masterpieces of this caliber. I need to watch that movie already ! I hope will arrive to cinemas soon in Europe😀 I think in autumn (October or so ) this year.
