I think you do great work Shannon, I bought a house a few years ago and it's all renovated now. I used a lot of your videos and they really helped me out so I thank you and keep up the good work!
This was the most helpful video of several that I viewed when preparing to install my window and door trim. Shannon is a good teacher. The video shows the sequence and the detail needed to complete each step through completion of the project. Now I am prepared for my task. Thanks!
Thanks Shannon. Really liked the detail and how you went slow enough and repeated things so it was easy to follow. Have done a lot of 45 mitre cuts and never knew to do the nail in the top to bring the corner together - relied on lots of caulk. Finally broke down and got a compressor and a brad nailer. Love it! Neighbors think I am a contractor when I am a computer guy by trade. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Planning on saving some money by doing my own open heart surgery tomorrow so I have to re-watch those vids to get ready...
Thank you and you are welcome. In our defence ( the pros) a lot of us carry a lot of overhead that most people do not think about. Between wages, workers compensation, insurance, tools, machinery, trucks, trailers, buildings and the list goes on and on. I realize some " pros" do inflate their prices more than others but many of us are just trying to make a decent living.i am trying to help those of you that have some skills to save some cash though. You are welcome.
what size (16-18 GA) brad nailer are you using?
Can i add a casing to windows that are finished? Im asking because of the corner bead. Would i still be able to drive nails through it?
Thank you. I have learn a Lot from you. Very well explained. All you videos. Tanks again
Pros also have wear and tear on their bodies.. each job will take a little out of them, and add to the pain they may feel in retirement. So I understand why some simple jobs may still be costly.
Shannon. I always find myself watching your videos when a home project comes along.Thank You.
What would I do without your tutorials?!!! Thank you very much, you are the most informative I have seen. I am learning as I do, you explain on my level so any novice can understand.
Just want to drop a line and say thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I've saved tens of thousands of dollars and also enjoy learning about all the elements.
As I sit with 17 windows to do and my first time really doing MY house...this was so good Shannon...

Man you are awesome. Easy to understand, great pointers on proper measuring and cutting for the correct fit. No one else is as concise as yourself. I have seen your other videos. Very classy presentation. Getting ready to install casings in a 60 year old house
that a contractor messed up. Has a Picasso shape around the doors and the mitered gaps are just huge, they just gooped it with caulk. Now I can redo thanks to you. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for going through the effort to do this. I've used paintable caulk for nail holes and miter joint cracks, but your idea to use wall repair compound is worth a look. If the window box is a little out of square or if the face is not quite flat it's a much bigger challenge.
For a doorway, set your side casing pieces in position, mark carefully, then cut. Install. Then take the top casing piece and lay it upside down on the installed side casings. Mark the outside distance on the top casing at the points it meets the side casings' miters. Cut and install. No measuring. If you cut carefully and accurately (and your door jamb is square), you're done in five minutes. If you have your saw right by your work area... faster than that.

Great video. I was am redoing all the trim in my house and my first attempts resulted in some gaps in the miter, but after watching this video, I have almost no gaps. Thank you.
Nice! I liked how you messed up the measurement of the closet door casing but did not edit that out. Realistic and human. Thanks!
Thanks Shannon, its always a learning experience when viewing your videos and I learned a few quick tips with this video......Will be looking forward to your next video....And thanks for the time you take to put this all together for us...You're a good man my friend.
I have watched a lot of "How to Trim" videos and yours was the most informative and easy to understand. Now I am off to trim that window. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Awesome videos thanks, I love how you explain everything and offer genuine advice.
Cheers from New Zealand.
Thanks for not editing your mistake out. Nice to see that even the pros can botch things up once in a while! Great Videos!! Thanks
I'm jealous of that saw and bench setup. It's beautiful.
Very nice miter saw there too! Like the tip of adding that extra inch or two to make measuring it easier.
Damn, I'm looking at random home improvements and you have a video in every category, every subsection. So awesome. Thanks, bro.
This guy is the best.
My friend you are the best it worth every second of the video to watch great explanation thank you really helpful.

Love this video! It is very educational. Clearly, he is an expert in installing window and door trim!
You are completely correct about the safety glasses, some of us get complacent about safety and we should not! thanks
Love this guy's videos! I'm sure I;ve watched them all and learned so much
I'm not set on either installation method so I think I will go ahead and try yours out when doing my casings.

Thanks for the Video. This was extremely helpful. Take care.
Thank you for share your knowledge, good explanation...
Shannon you're such a good teacher man! Wish I was apprenticed by you.
Thanks
another informative, REALISTIC vid. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. I wish I would have checked it out before I did my first three rooms. I will for sure do it better in the future.
Thanks for the how to video. You are a good instructor.
Brilliant ,I'm gonna give it a go thanks from a UK lady diy'er
I like your idea about your way of doing things (system). Your video is very detailed.
Hello! I like your videos, you explains every step very carefully so that every people understand it. Keep up the good work!
I mold for sheetrock
I prefer my way because i'm not having to cut that top piece exact to fit between the two sides. By installing them in the way I showed you as long as your first piece is installed in the correct position everything should work fine. There is really no right or wrong way but this is my way.
Thank you for going over every detail and explaining the tools too. I feel confident about doing this because of your video!
Thank you so much for the help 🤘
Very detailed camera views everything helped me out hell yeah!!
Great video, thanks for posting it.
Nice work Shannon great shop thank you for all tips 👍
Great video! Now I can reapply the molding that came off my pantry doors.
Excellent video. Good, concise instruction, and good camera work. A rare item these days! Thanks.
Thanks for this video. Excellent 'everyday' explanation and gave me a lot of confidence in doing my first door trim work. Will update after I finish!
Another fantastic video! Thank you.
Getting ready to trim out my first room. Thanks for the video! Hopefully I don’t mess it up 🤣
Really good video. Appreiciated the suggestion to "brad" the corners and glue.
I have my own system but I think I'll try out your way, looks more efficient. Keep the videos comin'!
You are so thorough, I was hoping you had a video on trim and was happy to find this, thank you.
Thank you! This video was excellent
Great info. Learned a lot. Thanks for making the video.
Great video. Thanks.
Great video, straight to the point
You do a great job in explaining what and how to everything, especially for someone like me, who knows absolutely nothing on how to do much of anything of 'DO-IT-YOURSELF"!
I have a bedroom door that did not want to open one morning, so had to work around it to try and scrape around the casing and woodwork(?) to open the door. FINALLY IT OPENED!!
Practically ruined everything in doing so and have been "working" at it for 2 weeks and getting no where, except making a mess. I decided to buy a new door complete, but I am afraid to try..I'm just lacking in confidence that I'll buy everything and still ruin it. You did a great job, I just don't trust "me". I'll try, after all, all I can lose is $70- $80( unless I end up hiring someone.)
I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks, Phil Wielewinski

Nice and neat work man!!!
Very good, no nonsense instructional video.
this was extremely helpful. Great job instructing
Thanks
Great, informative video. I like how he gets right at doing the job. A lot of videos spend to much time in the beginning making small talk. A good instructor.
You totally rock! Thanks for this video
very helpful, thanx a lot
U r appreciated by many
Very informative video!! thank's much for sharing it!!
Great carpenter, and great demonstration. There are ways to do it faster, but might be hard to explain to a DIY. I mark my reveal, and then don't measure again until the head piece.
Thanks for making this video. Very helpful.
Great video. Would like to see ways to trouble shoot when drywall and window jam are not even - as with replacement windows. Sometimes the drywall sticks out further, sometimes the jam.
Shannon excellent tutorial just wondering if you could post a video on how to install trim on a pentagon window.
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm a diy'er and I have learned so much from your tutalidge.
You are so welcome!
Thanks again for another great video.
Thanks a lot sir great videos best I have seen on RUclips
Yes if you do the math you can measure on the outside when cutting the new piece. If you are cutting 45 degree angles what you would do is this: measure the window just like I did to figure out what you want for a inside measurement, then add the width of your trim to that length twice. This would give you the outside length you need .
Very helpful, thanks!
Great. Should have watched before I tried this on my own.
Master! We love you.
Impressive.thanks for sharing your expertise
Thanks for sharing this video!
Great Video, Learned a lot. Thanks...
You just saved me a lot of aggravation. Thanks for the video!
Very good. Thanks for the video
This video is proof that no matter how perfect the video and instructions, there will still be trolls in the comments. Great video and thanks!
Nice poster in the workshop :)
In my workshop I have a life sized vintage poster of Raquel Welch from the movie One Million Years B.C. Just sayin'.
Man, I did mine without watching this. Damn it man, coulda saved time.
