As I have been there from.my home in England I recognise the back ground of this wonderful klezmer performance in Budapest. It is the unique wonderous Dohany great synsgogue /shule of Budapest, the biggest synagogue in europe.B'H by a miracle it survived being destroyed in the living nightmare years of the Shoa/the Holocaust !
I am a third generation American of Hungarian linage. I remember our Jewish hardware store owner playing this music. I loved it as a kid and glad I found Klezmer music again. Thank you God Bless
I'm a first generation American-Hungarian (Christian) this music touched my soul. Makes me wonder if my people were Jewish at some point and converted during on of many convert or die programs. Love this music!!!
Through the violent oppression commited against us jews it is inevitable that there were indeed some jews who rather than be murdered converted to church denominations or Islam. So yes there are today none jewish people who have jewish ancestry. But of course even completely none jewish people can and do love klezmer.Fidler on the Roof was a deeply very jewish production but very many none jews loved that also.
@@Guy77ishI am jewish and live in London. There are many ways you can study in many parts of the UK about jewish history and about Judaism.I do wish you well in doing so.Solomans is certainly an unusual family name for none jewish people.Have you ever spoken to your nearest rabbi.
Please, keep on playing this beautiful music of my ancestors. God bless you all! From Gyorgyi in the USA.
Love this Klezmer music, especially when the clarinet leads. The music is so emotional, it feels like the music is telling a haunting story. It sounds so sad, the Jewish history is very sad, for years and all over the world they've been persecuted. They are a strong people and I wish them safe and happy times for the future.. Shalom.
Mike as an old jew the only child of my greek born parents who were the only Holocaust survivors of our family I thank you for your touching kind words.May G-d bless you very much dear friend .Shalom aliechem !
@@Baruch-q4n Thankyou for your words. I worked in Krakow from 1998 -2000 and visited the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz many times and listened to live Klezme music and tasted traditional polish foods with a Jewish twist. I was astounded at the numbers of houses and properties obviously left vacant for many years. I was told these were owned by Jewish residents sent to the Krokow ghetto and then off to a concentration camp and never heard of again. Years later relatives suffered added insult to their devastating loss unable to even gain admission to these houses to recover family possessions as they had no proof of ownership. They remained abandoned for 55 years, some demolished due to unsafe condition. I also visited Auschwitz on a number of occasions with visitors of mine, I can't begin to describe how heart breaking that experience had on me. God Bless you and yours my online friend
I had never been exposed to Klezmer music and am not Jewish but I do thank my college class for leading me to study the music of different cultures. Very happy to discover this music.
Love this band! Most alive klezmer I have ever heard. The clarinet laughs and sobs at the same time. How I wish I could play like that violinist! L'chayim!
Thankyou so much,Some of my best friends are not jewish.I come from Holocaust survivors,it keeps me going that we jews still have none jewish friends,God protect and bless you all ! Indeed Shalom aliechem !

Baloney. This is klezmer, a Jewish musical genre. It is not Episcopal choral music or Bossa Nova. Music may be universal, but regional and culturally specific musical genres exist. Get over it.
What is the name of this Band? Jewish or not they are very good....hey Klezmer is now just another form of World Music! I think it is great....when we were kids we thought this music was depressing and reminded us of our grandparents suffering etc...and sounded soooo old fashioned...(as we memorized Beatle songs etc.).... but now it is gaining an audience and a new form. Great!
Shalom aliechem Laurie ,I am sephardi jewish originally from.Greece now in England.I loved the klezmer music and yiddish songs I heard even as a child in Athens and Salonika=Thesssloniki in the 1950s and 1960s.This was because our parents played this music to mark thier surviving the death camps in Poland and Germany.
