    Dividends are paid in cash. Companies can decide to pay it from profits, reserves, or even by taking debt.
    Once the BOD decides the amount, we can measure it with any metric like FV or MV of the stock. Companies declare it on FV because it doesn't fluctuate like MV.
    I used market value (yield) in this video to make the explanation simple & to the point.

    Many people have already told you how beautifully you present the video. Be it your voice, the graphical representation, or in the easy manner in which you break the complex topic, and rightly so.
    But here I am, thanking you, for showing the data, the tabular charts, the figures, the numbers.
    I myself being a calculation and number freak, give utmost importance to them and really really want to see all the calculations right in front of my eyes. Like at what point it would be XXX amount, and after how much time it will increase by what percentage.
    And here you are, encapsulating all of them.
    It is double bonus for me personally.
    All the best wishes to you in your journey.
    Regards,

  • @prateekkumar1742

    Good video, but there's a mistake. Dividends are paid on face value of a company which remains same and not on the share price which keeps on increasing. Hence dividend amount remains same till 20yrs, but can be increased on increasing the quantity of share.

    • @prateekkumar1742
      @prateekkumar1742 2 года назад +1

      If you're talking about dividend yield, it decreases with increasing in share price as dividend yield= dividend/share / Market price * 100

      There's a difference between Dividend Payout vs Dividend Yield. Dividend Payout is based on FV (1-10, used to be 100 also earlier), but it's not the right reflection when you are comparing one company dividend with other (due to different FV of the stocks). Dividend Yield on the other hand is based on market value of the stock. FV concept is there in India only, most developed markets do not have this concept, it's time we should scrap it too. Hope this is helpful.

      Let me tell you suppose you purchased 100 stocks. The company gives bonus sometime 1:1 or 1:2 or 1:3, so your 100 shares may become 300 in few years and again in another few years again it can be double.. suppose 600 shares.. so if company declares Rs 10 per shares dividend then you will get Rs 6000 in ur bank account once a year.. and your capital money will be the current stock price which is still there.. and if the stock price increase then company will pay out even high dividend.. suppose again in next three years it will give Rs 20 per shares.. dividend. So u will get 12000 in ur account... By then again if it gives bonus 1:1 then ur shares will become 1200 and you will get dividend.......... 1200 *20= 24000.. and your capital money is still growing.. so whether your capital money is less or more it does not matter.. only you should be keep on getting some dividend every year..

    Bro I have a question, if I am buying stocks from a platform such as zerodha or groww and not directly, am I still going to get the dividend credited directly into my bank acc or does it work differently on apps/platforms? Great job btw, I've liked and subscribed.

    • @abbubakar1277
      @abbubakar1277 3 года назад +4

      You (as a retail investor) can't buy stocks directly. Only through a broker. Dividends will be credited to your bank account directly. (Always reinvest the dividends).

    bro, could you please show with calculations the amount to be invested, the devidend gained approximately, with past data .
    relying solely on devidend & retairing , is it possible ?
    how much corpus is required for devidend of 6 lakh per annum

    • @dipnarayanmukherjee9485
      @dipnarayanmukherjee9485 3 года назад +1

      As per my calculation and experience, to earn 6 lakh yearly dividend you should have stock holding equivalent to 3 crores considering avg 2% dividend yield... but the thing is over long term you can save and your stocks will multiply after getting bonuses which can help reach closer to what is demonstrated here

      @@pseudonymouspsycho8275 L&T has upcoming dividend this month. The company is also good for stability. Stocks like HDFC, HDFC BANK, Infosys, TCS, Britannia, Hero motor company are stable and also give handsome dividends over long term.
      Also think abt Dmart, HDFC AMC, Affle, Amber for multifold return over long term.
      These are not recommendations, just my own understanding. Do your research before investing.

    Wrong info: dividend calculated on face value of stock and not on market price as u have shared.

    • @rameshsharma390
      @rameshsharma390 3 года назад

      Please see when he is talking about dividend returns in relation to market price, he is talking about dividend yield which is the right criteria to compute your returns on investment value. While BOD declares dividend as a percentage of FV, for an investors like you and me what matters is the dividend yield as we rely get shares at face value. Please note that in respect of shares available at a discount to face value, your dividend yield would be higher than the returns computed bases on face value. In any event, you compare dividend yield on a share with rate of interest to see which is better paying alternative - shares or FD.
