SRV's "style " of playing should not die when he did.It should be celebrated thru up coming musicians and people should be grateful that he influenced so many Guitarists.
He always gives it his all when playing, the man literally plays to his fingers bleed. Consistently. Hes arguably the best guitar player to ever live, because he is extremely jazz influenced, and he explorers music from every angle possible. He's extremely well-rounded, and he's a very good guy. I love the fact that he did his own thing instead of selling out. I highly recommend you take the time to see this guy live, because he is the GOAT and I promise you that will be his legacy. In all reality; it is his legacy. Unfortunately in today's day and age, my generation is so confused they don't know which way is up and which way is down. But it's an honor to call this guy a friend of mine, if you will. It's funny how internet flipped the script on musicians. Either way this guy is just as Jimi Hendrix, and people are so conditioned to overlook such a raw talent. Just sad seeing how confused the human race is right now... And if it were any other way, then the fact that people are living in a reactive state of mind instead of actually creating their reality, we wouldn't have Chris Duarte playing for a mediocre crowd. This man should be selling out arenas and Eric Clapton be opening for Duarte. I'm sorry that's just my opinion, but this man really is taking a 12-hour trip to go see him, he just gives off that vibe that only a few have managed to channel. Damn why do I have to be so deep....? I apologize whoever you are, I'm technically just speaking my mind to the human race LOL
Because he is a SRV clone like about 1,000 other guitarists I could mention.. At least SRV was an original, though her too borrowed from Hendrix and Albert King. Kenny Wayne Shepard, and Johnny Lang were the first, then Mato Nanj ... You can't become famous if you just play the same old, same old!
Sez U? How can you praise a guy who just imitates, rather than sets the bar, or innovates? No, not the stupidest question on YT, but surely the stupidest reply/comment by U!!
If you don't 'get' his playing, that's fine, but if you listen to Duarte and hear an SRV clone, then I'm sorry, but you're not listening closely enough. He's certainly influenced, but Duarte has his own thing going on. There are plenty of SRV clones out there, he isn't one.
Gary Cain yes! U get him. I met Chris over 20 years ago in Japan when he had a label deal with BMG. I own everything he has ever sold, including tee-shirts. Seen him play umteen times and he NEVER disappoints.
He's not new at all. He's been around for a long time. He flies under the radar of greatness while lesser players get all the accolades. Check out his DVD it's on utube now. Somebody uploaded it Axploration.
This guy is super-talented, no doubt! And, he displays tons of energy on stage...Absolutely outstanding. One of the most powerful players I've seen lately, but there is something I can't quite put my finger on. It's almost a disjointed or disconnected sort of playing, especially in comparison to SRV. But maybe that's just because he's playing SO powerfully.
Oh yeah? Well he sure sounds like a SRV clone to me. The only true original guitarists in rock/blues were Hendrix, Beck, Green, early Clapton, and Eddie, they all changed the sound of the guitar forever...not these thousand dip shits that can only copy!!!!!!!!
@@jeremyblessing5606 The post I made about him being another SRV clone.. I stand by my statement. Yes, I do play guitar. and I can play like SRV. I don't hear any riff (which are very repetitive) that I can't play and I don't think myself a guitarist supreme by any means... I hear kids on YT that can out play this guy a million fold, but if your question is, do I think he's an accomplished player... Yes, I do, but there also many accomplished drivers on the LA freeway! Have you listened to the guitar players I mentioned? Even if I was to give him the best compliment, WOW, he sounds as good as Stevie Ray... Why do we need another SRV??? Been there, done that... Now do something original..
Maybe because he is just regurgitating SRV riffs without having his soul, or incorporating his playing into something original. When Clapton did Freddy King on the Beano album, he took it to another level. This guy hasn't gotten there yet.
SRV does have a EQUIEL great ness is verry RARE dont get on a helo you got the stick or the half of the stick that was held by SRV and chris !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank U for your life U used it to the enth rare is true greatness that is U
People don't compare him to SRV - Chris can rip and he's a sweet guy - is he influenced by SRV sure and SRV copped Albert King note for note too so wake up!!! Love Kenny Wayne Shepard but he's more of an SRV clone than Chris is believe me...!! If you haven't seen Chris live then STFU !!
Chris plays like he’s bored. It occurred to me he may be jumping all over the place to create problems to solve. When I saw him live in 95, he was viscous and melodic in a way I’d never heard before. This is disjointed and scattered. Maybe it’s evolution of style, but I don’t enjoy his playing any more.
He always gets everything he possibly can out of that Stratocaster
The intro to this song drags ya right in.
Terrifying guitar work!! Dude plays with the entire body
Goes immediatly to the soul and sparks joy, there's no way to cheat that.
Been a Duarte fan since his first album, This is some great guitar playing!

Very Cool Stuff...Loven It!
Channeling Stevie .. Love it.
I saw him a couple of times at a local club here is Salt Lake, 20-something years ago. He was phenomenal then and still is today.
This guy is amazing! Awesome feel and tons of emotion in his playing. I heard it way back with tailspin head whack once past radio friendly Cleo.
great video..what a player..and one of my favorites..spent many a night , front row at his shows in Omaha...
Got that "Dirty Pool"sound to it.Nice!!
He drank the same water stevie ray drank !! Awesome, they say it's in the water , he's from Texas!!
He's all in!

Wonderfull!!!!! He is really great!!!

Wow. He looks like he's hanging on to that Strat for dear life...like taming a dragon! Brilliant! When are you coming to Hong Kong, Chris?
SRV didn't have to work so hard ..!

Haha.. people here who have never heard of SRV. Night and day difference.
+Vegas Mayor You are dead right! It was a forced parody of SRV.and the sound was horrible too.I think life is better without earwax.
Fuck Yeah....!!!
If Michael Bolton stole a Strat....

you guys are tone deaf..and yes there is reverb mixed into that from FOH it sounds great!

Only technicisms...
Superb playing, but not really digging the tone. Lack of reverb maybe.
you fucking tone guys sucks...
some one like you only find mistake to be vain... I really hate those guys
A lot of guys use too much reverb and it's annoying. He sounds good to me.
Great guitarist who should never attempt to sing. Cheers.
***** I can't sing very well, either. Just expressing my opinion. Cheers.
Than just watch his instrumentals.
coffeewaldo what?
Sixxxth STREet.take off your shoes scratch my feet.give some one God two eat
