was an awesome time to see them,i was fortunate enough to see them at massey hall toronto,4th row floor, what a show....they just gave and gave,it was a magical night for sure,i so agree with you the late 70`s early eightees was the center of a musical revolution....
Sings like Bowie, looks like Rotten. Either way, this is one of the greatest songs ever and this is best version of the song, period. Love how he sings the end here.
@@bauhaus1961 even Call My By Your name aside, it's a song about gay people fighting oppression/loving the way they want to love so it's a bittersweet song. These lines in particular: They'd put us on a railroad They'd dearly make us pay For laughing in their faces And making it our way There's emptiness behind their eyes There's dust in all their hearts They just want to steal us all And take us all apart
I’m glad that “call me by your name” brought a lot of people to this song and band...makes me wonder how many other great songs by bands from the 80’s could be revitalized by proper use in an excellent film 🤔
Had the brothers had a channel in 1985 there would have been a million brit followers and an additional American followers. That is saying a alot as we only had 55 million people in Britain in 1985
Just saw The Psyches a little over a week ago. Still going strong. So many memories with this and so many other Psyches tunes. From ecstatic and boundless sky highs, to the deepest crushing depths. The 80's will *FOREVER* rule my world. *_THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS RULE..._*
I seen them in concert more then 5 times. Each version of this song is unique depending on condition of his voice might be in. One of my favorite bands of the 80's.
I found it interesting that the hired on keyboard player keeps the root "E" on the 2nd time loop instead of a "G"...I've always wanted to ask Todd if he played that in the studio. Hmmm, maybe a question for him in ATL this Oct.
Impressive to hear the "Ahwww Hoooo" part actually being done live! All of the acoustic versions done the recent years are pretty wild sounding too.....
My husband was singing that orrible "and i ran" song and i channelled my most fav song from back then and luckily remembered "love my way" what a song, great band
The Psychedelic Furs have always been a top notch, "A-list" band that have rightfully *earned* their *_own_* merit. Sad to see them constantly being held up to the Bowie/The Cure "yardstick" as if those artists have a monopoly on this style or genre of music...
River of Blacklights, if you notice, those comparisons between Bowie/the Cure are either from people who didn't grow up in the 80s or lack musical knowledge and ability to discern sounds and vocals.
I went to see them a few years ago. I thought, what the hell, its something to do, no big deal. OMG! I'm so glad I went! These guys are nothing short of real pros!!! They are tight and consistent. I left feeling like I just saw Kiss or Ozzy! Ass kicking concert! Dude sings like a champ! Band is right on the money!
Don't hate me. I'm 28 now and I'm here due to CMBYN. This song is just so fucking haunting, makes me feel like I'm into a party which only exists in my dreams, with a new love who only exists in my head. I wanna cry...
The Furs are one of the bands that have no equal... They are so unique that to sound similar would be to copy. Even if its a song I don't recognize, I instantly know its the Furs.
I am blown away by you guys. This is my favorite song of the era. So happy to see tours still happening and even happier to see you rocking it harder than you thirty years ago! I was born in '87, very possibly concieved to this joint!.... The first time I discovered how cool my dad really is was him telling me about listening to this song on LSD on quadraphonic 4.0? Speakers on vinyl and it blowing his mind. I had always associated trippy music with earlier decades but my tripping play list has always included this and stuff spanning from 140 years ago to present...
Karla DeVito sang back up. I first heard her on the Breakfast Club soundtrack (the part where they're all dancing). It's funny how these people are all connected.

I would not have objected if the '80s never ended

I love that statement!
Sings like Bowie, looks like Rotten. Either way, this is one of the greatest songs ever and this is best version of the song, period. Love how he sings the end here.
and some moves like Jagger
reminds me of Brian Ferry.
Not so much like Rotton in this vid
Looks and sounds like Richard Butler
Unique in my opinion.
Sings like Bowie looks like Howerd ( Frankie).
I feel so blessed to have been a teenager/ young adult during the 80's. It was such a great time to be young and carefree!
One of the most beautiful songs written.
Todd Rundgren wrote & produced this gorgeous song.
The Most Beautiful!
this song makes me cry
Why is that? If you don't mind me asking?
@@teariet.tekken-wolffenn5881 probably because he likes the movie Call Me By Your Name
Yep, this song also makes me cry..
me too...

Raspy vocals that dig deep in the most beautiful way! 🙂 🇨🇦
This song always puts me in a trance.
Same!!
Yeah, what the hell is that… connecting to something I don’t understand
Saw them when I was like 16 and this had just come out. I’m 54 now. They were so good. Can’t believe so much time has passed
Tell me about it
It’s the cig that gives me life with this performance.Imma 80s baby and it takes me to a good place
Even though I was born in ‘92, I can feel the 80s, especially with songs like this
Reminds me of a date I was on in the early ‘80s… driving with KROQ on… magical
Fun Fact: Flo & Eddie are singing the background vocals on the studio version.
Usually live acts are speeded up. This tempo creates another dimension to the song. Good one.
Essa cançao sempre me deixara em um transe profundo!!!!!! ❤
Still in my top 3 favorite songs ever...
I’m glad that “call me by your name” brought a lot of people to this song and band...makes me wonder how many other great songs by bands from the 80’s could be revitalized by proper use in an excellent film 🤔
Or forever stereotyped outside of its epoch!
firstbornjordan- that too.
It was in the wedding singer too
Yes some people never heard of. Them
I just saw the movie for the first time....LOVED IT👍👍
The wedding singer introduced me to this song, always loved this song since I was a kid
This version slows my heart rate so much that my eyesight gets blurry.
It brings you into Presence? How cool...
THATS BECAUSE ITS SO DREAMY ... AND SUCH A GREAT SONG TOO ;)
Love this song 🇺🇸🇲🇽
Fantastic! Grateful for footage like this in 2023
He sounds just like the album….wow!!!!
42 years old and I absolutely love this man and I love this band
Love that voice, so identifiable.
Such a unique voice. That raspy voice works here!
Its Bowie and the Cure all in one.
Good call !
The Psychedelic Furs are beyond strong enough to stand on their own merit...
River Of Blacklights relax
Can't see the cure myself deffo Bowie a bit.. good call though
like heroes when start
Best decade ever. Nothing will ever come close to it.
Such an amazing song!!!! Beautiful and hauntingly entrancing!!! And Richard Butler has charisma for days!!

Modsleix 6 luck u
This version is without the xylophone. Richard Butler does this song with cool and a cigarette. Love this song!
I seen them in concert more then 5 times. Each version of this song is unique depending on condition of his voice might be in. One of my favorite bands of the 80's.
Its a fairlight not a xylo
Sounds like they had some potent Jamaican ganja that night. The song is a bit slower than usual.
I found it interesting that the hired on keyboard player keeps the root "E" on the 2nd time loop instead of a "G"...I've always wanted to ask Todd if he played that in the studio. Hmmm, maybe a question for him in ATL this Oct.
Fun to watch the Furs. Must have been a different time when entertainers could smoke and sing at the same time?
Love this live version! Very atmospheric and seductive.
I love this song, and did back then too. It seems more meaningful now.
I am hoping Butler never got health problems from his near-constant smoking!
What a performance man, it's a once in a lifetime performance, greatest of all time...
I saw them live last year and they were FLAWLESS.
Todd Rundgren wrote this song & produced it w psychedelic furs
3:26 I pretty much adore this part 💕 He sounds nostalgic
This is great. Brings back memories. I remember when I was 14 and they aired this concert on tv.
Exactly. I was roughly the same age. First time I had heard this song.
Incredible version of an incredible song from an incredible band
Omg this version ❤
Fell in love with this band with their debut album.
Started listening to more and more of PF lately, absolutely superb band.
I can only dream of being as cool as Richad Butler.
WOW, I love this slower version. So much power.
Richard butler is one of the best vocalist of all time in my opinion, the man has a voice from the heavens.
One of my all-time favorites thank you very much psychedelic furs
I finally saw the Furs live in college. Richard Butler did not disappoint
When this song was out it was just another song to me. Now it means more and more to me every time I hear it. And I don't hear it enough.
Love this song. Do not be confused. Richard Butler is the lead singer. His brother, Tim, is playing bass. Todd Rundgren produced the album and song.
THE FURS!!
One of the best....
Amazing group of the 80's. I do not compare them to anyone. It was a great time of music as was the 60's and 70's.
Such a great song and believe it or not it didn’t do brilliantly well as a single. What were people thinking of back in 82??
I miss the 80s!! it starts with PF his voice his posture makeup even the cigarette he holds while he sings.
I'm a classic rock fan but first time I heard this really loved it and to this day one of my favorites
I used to smoke cigarettes while playing racquetball in the 80s.
HAHA, man I miss that decade , no other like it.
The drumming is perfect totally spot on cant beat that 80s snare drum.
Oh, it's a young Ed Buller on keyboards there. Known for his work as a great producer, engineer for bands like Suede, Pulp, Sulk etc
so real xylophones weren't used in this song?? thats disappointing..
In the original record, it was a marimba, played by Todd Rundgren. However, they chose to use a Fairlight for the sounds in this live version.
Elio and Oliver
mendoza008 call me by your name and i’ll call you by mine
@@katiemaldonado1707 elio👆
Shut up.🙄
Quit associating this fantastic song with those two. Wahi' Valleys
Love this song. "Call me by your name", beautiful memories.
Love this band, remember listening to them in the 80’s on the radio and hearing in some of my favorite 80’s teen movies , with Molly Ringwald 😎
Omg what a voice and he is so cute💗💗💗
You can't win or lose, if you don't run the race!
Best sung slow...awesome version....!
Love the version, more slowly than original, GREAT!!!

They couldn't be more different than those two!
I love 80's style
I went to see them a few years ago. I thought, what the hell, its something to do, no big deal.

Great song!
I would have loved to hear Bowie sing this one!
Have ALWAYS loved this song!
I’ve always liked this tune.
Still nailed it.

Smoking and singing "Love my way" so rad dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤒🤒🤒🤒
Шикарный голос! Батлер красавчик!👍
Great piece of music. Didn't think they could do it live!
A lot of bands are known for a lot of things but not many for one perfect song, RESPECT ✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I absolutely love this band!!!!
Saw them last night! So damn good!!
Love skiing with this song on!!
He looks so high omg
Karla DeVito sang back up. I first heard her on the Breakfast Club soundtrack (the part where they're all dancing). It's funny how these people are all connected.
Fantastic band His voice is awesome
ghost in you is my favorite pfurs song. I saw them in 1990 in san diego -- hands down the very best concert I have ever seen. It was at USD in what was the basketball arena. Incredibly small venue, and they owned it. I had the concert tshirt until a few years ago, when it finally turned to dust from being worn so much.
one of my all-time favorite songs
Fascinating to watch Richard as always.🧡
