There used to be until 1930’s a branch line from Lal Lal to the former Lal Lal racecourse (station) for race day passengers. It closed when the course closed.
It's crazy that 1. They do not have a Geelong/ Ballarat service along this line and 2. They failed to put in a standard gauge link to Mildura. It really is an under utilized asset this corridoor. Enough room for a broad and standard gauge track.
I am glad that this line has never been shut down. At least we still have the option of using this line but it would be nice to see a service across this line 🙂👍
My old babysitter from when I was a toddler at Serviceton and her husband Terry who was a signalman at Serviceton were transferred to Lethbridge roughly 1985. I remember going there once while they were there and Terry showed me around.
@@driver667The house/living quarters were part of the station...of course only accessed by the residents and I remember Terry showing me the staff machines. I could be wrong but I think there was 4 of them?
This is due to the infrequent use of the line leading up to these transfers. They are being cautious and making sure the crossings work for the train movements 👍🙂
Really enjoying this trip, not a line that gets much cab footage. Thanks so much.
Glad to hear you liked it 👍 😊

You can still make out where it ran with a bit of a look around 🙂
Thanks for sharing your trip 667.
No problem, glad you enjoyed it 😊

Would have been good to see the station whilst it was still in use 🙂👍

@@kevkoala there would be two staff instruments. Would have been interesting to see 🙂👍
@@driver667 That's what I thought, it was so long ago.
Why is it that each crossing is attended? As if they're manually being turned on.

How good is the countryside,?
It is nice country 😀👍
I see me :)
Hellloooo 👋👋
At 15:48 are they adding or removing a crossing loop?
Removing the loop.
I’m wondering, what do the numbers 667 symbolise in your name?
It's the number on my driver's hat 👍🙂
By the sound of the whistle you are in a Velocity, A passenger train on a goods line ?
It is a VLocity. An empty transfer train from Ballarat to Geelong. 👍🙂
@@driver667
thought that may be the case.
Is this VL31?
No, was not vl31. It was vl68.
