    Good on you. Looks great. I can however see some some sore heads with the limited clearance

    The cabinets on both side. Poor head in case of an emergency!!!

    Great stuff! What screws (lenth) did you use to affix the lats onto the IKEA frames? My first go at that and they just pop out...Im also laying the bed lengthways as I cant fit sideways...so the lats are on a frame which will go onto the IKEA lats..

      @RichieRos  Год назад

      It was so long ago, I really can’t remember. But if you take the thickness of the lat and the bed frame and allow a little extra that should be fine. Also pilot drill a hole smaller than the screw so that the screws will bite and then they will hold the lats in place. Hope that helps!

    Nice work, Clever idea using cloths line!. Just wondering what you used for the side rails to support the beams looks like T rail ?

    • @RichieRos
      @RichieRos  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! The beams on either side came with the van. It was an ex DHL van and the beams were on the floor of the van. Yes, it’s very similar to T Rail. If you watch the first bed frame install video you’ll see what I used.

    Hey, nice build! What are the dimensions of the bed with the extrusion? How tall are you, and how tall would you say you could be maximum and still fit in the bed without laying diagonally? :)

      I’m around 6ft in height. With the recess on both sides, I fit, but it’s tight. without the recess on both sides I’d have to sleep at an angle if I was to sleep side to side. Hope that helps!

    Great video. A year on... How's the bed been? Would you recommend it? What IKEA bed was it, can you remember?

    Nice tight fit on the mattress, but you seem to have prevented your exit from the rear of the van" in the event of an emergency??

    • @RichieRos
      @RichieRos  Год назад

      Good point! I had thought of that. I’ll have to jump out the the roof window in the event of an emergency

    Hi I thought the idea of the ikea bed frame was genius, it saves so much weight. What was the frame you used I couldn’t find it on the ikea website. Great Vlog 😊

      The beam is called Skorva. The side rails can be Metod (a cabinet rail).

    Surprisingly, the best thing for cutting foam is an electric carving knife!

      Thanks! Your right. It’s a trade off between more head room our more garage space. I went with more garage space.

    Now I am waiting for all Anglo-Saxons to be able to - for once - pronounce the name IKEA in the correct way. As you all know it's a Swedish name and the correct pronunciation is "ee-keh-ah" (not the grotesque "eye-kee-a") So come on and give it a try!
