Brilliant Actor and I am glad you paid a visit to his grave. That head stone is very impressive and as usual Paul your so respectful love your videos and enjoy the history of each person you visit.
Soon as I heard the equaliser intro music it made me want to buy the box set. So I'll be trying to buy it tonight.or download it online. I liked Edward Woodward
Thanks Paul for visiting Edwards grave , he was one of my favourite actors , loved him in The Equalizer , a brilliant actor and a handsome man . RIP Edward 🌹.
Thanks Heaps Paul so glad you finally got Down to Padstow to visit Edward Woodward Grave and yes I've been Bugging you to do it for over 2-3years and yes the Equalizer was one of my favourite shows in the 80's I remember watching it in the living room of the Birmingham house back in 1985 and again on my return to live in Australia 1986-89,it was awesome probably the best private eye show since Roger Moore as the Saint and his Bond Roles,I think Edward Woodward would been a great Bond, Again thanks Paul a real treat.
Edward was a truly lovely man. When he lived in Gunnislake, Cornwall and I lived in Callington, Cornwall, I met him and his wife at Callington's Honey Fair. I said to him 'I will say hello as I am a Gemini too'. He laughed and said 'What a thing to pin on someone'. He looked at my husband and smiled to which I said 'John is also Gemini as is my dog'. John saw him a few more times in the local shops and had a little chat with Edward. Edward would always open fair etc free of charge. Thank you as always Paul for a wonderful video xx
Thank you Paul. I had a massive crush on Edward Woodwards in the Equaliser. Even tho i thought his name was Edward Woodwood for years because that's how people pronounced it. sorry paul even you say it as woodwood. lol Loved that you found it. 😁😊
His son is so very much like him and also an actor. I remember Edward Woodward singing “ The Way you look tonight”, and yes,he had a lovely voice. When we were courting, unbeknown to me my husband to be had bought the record, and after we had been out one night and I was all dressed up in a new dress, my. Fiancé played this record for me, so it has very romantic memories for me! He was a good actor, and greatly missed. Sounds like he had a rotten time with his health and heart issues bless him. Thanks for this visit Paul…much appreciated. 😊
LOVED the Equalizer!! Edward was brilliant as the Ghost of Christmas Present in the George C. Scott "Scrooge". oh and a bit of trivia The theme song for the 1980s TV series The Equalizer is called "Busy Equalizing" and was composed and performed by Stewart Copeland of the Police (drummer)
My uncle and Grandmother are buried in the same cemetery just as you walk in. It is a small but beautiful place and the head stones for Edward Woodward and we think his wife (who is not passed yet) are unusual. Need to visit again soon. I love the South West especially Cornwall.
Been to Padstow.. My parents moved down tregatillian part of Cornwall just outside st columb and live on the same site as my brother who moved down there way before last time i went down was 2013 as 2014 my ex husband (prat) stopped me going now my dad cant drive anymore as he is ill and my mom wont drive 5hrs journey but we keep in contact every day and send cards and presents for Christmas and birthdays... R. I. P Edward i absolutely loved the equaliser 😢💔
Wow Paul you deserve a cuddle for this one one of my most favourite actors I loved watching the equaliser plus he was in Scrooge the Christmas movie what an honor you did us proud Paul thankyou so much you are a star have a good night rip Edward Woodward ❤️🙏
Many thanks for your beautiful tribute to Edward Woodward. In his bio, you missed one of his greatest movies... one that actually changed the path of my life. Not being dramatic here, but I ended up doing a thesis on this character's life and this led me to spending two years in Australia following up on his story. The movie is 'Breaker Morant' about the Boer War in 1901. Truly a tour de force, made somewhere in the late 1970's, by the, then, Australian Film Corporation. Great Movie! Thanks again for the memories and your lovely presentation of Woodward's life.
Me too. I watched it with my folks when it first aired. My mum loved the show, especially Lonely, played by Russel Hunter, who was actually from Glasgow (like us). Cheers
@ Same here! Watched it with my folks too when first aired here in Australia. Mum loved the show. And I agree, Russel Hunter was superb as Lonely. A very talented character actor! So good, when I saw him in other shows, it took a while to work out he played Lonely. Proof of his wonderful acting talent! The intro with the swinging lightbulb & theme music still plays in my head sometimes! Cheers!
@@didee5336 Spot on. I re-watch Callan episodes every now and then for the acting and early 70s atmosphere. I think it was made on a pretty tight budget, so anytime someone blew a line or stepped on someone else's dialogue, they just kept rolling. Anthony Valentine was great as Toby Meres too. I understand he and Ed Woodward were pals forever. BTW: If you like UK espionage dramas, check out "The Sandbaggers." Well worth a watch. Cheers
@ Yes! Anthony Valentine was great too. I will check out “The Sandbaggers”. There’s a fair chance I watched it when first aired but would be great to watch again. Thanks for suggesting it. 😃
Che serie straordinaria "the equalizer"...raffinatissima, con questo attore straordinario, e la colonna sonora di Copeland dei Police. In Italia mi sembra che fu tradotto con " il giustiziere
Paul! A big thank you for this. Edward was a fantastic actor/singer. For anyone who reads this the I heartily recommend Breaker Morant for his acting skills, and, on RUclips, Champagne Charlie for his singing skills! Lastly, I heard this on TV. Why does Edward Woodward have four letter D’s in his name??? Because it would be silly calling him Ewar Woowar! Well, it was hilarious when I heard it. Cheers mate, Bob
What a lovely tribute to Edward he was a fantastic actor I really loved him in his films I wish I knew he was buried in Padstow as I was there a little while ago it's about 7 hours drive away from me. R I P Edward
Edward Woodward would….. I first came across him in Callan. Loved him n the Wicker Man but he also in lots of other films such as Breaker Morant. For me at my age 67, Edward Woodward is always remembered for being Callan. If you can find episodes worth a watch. The opening sequence just brilliant. I know people rave about The Wicker Man etc but Callan was ground breaking.
He also presented a Granada TV series called In Suspicious Circumstances from 1993 to 1996 which features classic murder mysteries based on true stories.
We in Australia know him, in part for 'Breaker Morant', where he plays the lead role brilliantly, it's an Australian film and launched posthumously interest in the Harry Morant story, Woodward is outstanding. Looks great too.

Glad you decided to stay over, Cornwall is so lovely anyway. A great actor and my goodness with all the health problems he had it is amazing he lived to 2009!
Thank you for this video! Edward Woodward was always my favourite actor- The Wicker Man , Hot Fuzz and of course Breaker Morant were all excellent in different ways, and his version of Soldiers of the Queen, performed with a certain irony in BM, has since become the standard and is so moving. I also fell in love with Michelle Dotrice as a youngster after seeing her in King Lear in Bristol on a school English Lit outing. So thanks to them both for all the hours of enjoyment they have given us over the years.
