I’ll be in Nashville next week for the drum show / booth 169 / I want to check out Broadway, any suggestions for old school listening, drummers who play brushes etc…,,
Country will always be relevant to a degree here. As an outsider that came to Nashville with fresh eyes, I hear a bunch of mixed opinions. I've seen things change even in just the two years I've been here. If you look back at the history of Country music, you see cycles of trends where the genre either is following the tail of pop music or is too old=fashioned, depending on the perspective. I do believe that being extremely versatile is helpful here. Depending on where you are at in your career, some people decide to become the musician that Nashville needs, and some decide to build their own unique identity and carve out a niche around that. I can tell you that Broadway is certainly a broad mix of genres now.
I heard one great piece of advice for playing on Broadway: “you need to know every song ever recorded and every song that will be recorded. That’s a good starting point” 😂🤣😭
Thank you sir.
Very valuable indeed.
You're most welcome
Love your show, the best Paul.
Thank you so much!

I'd definitely check out Robert's Western World!
Is the old school Johnny Cash etc, still relevant? Seems like everything is rock n roll.

Feel like every gig there's a new Broadway standard that I didn't know about and I just feel stupid 🤣 Let's me know exactly what to shed though
