Arron hope you’re enjoying yourself. Hillbilly music with a rock twist. At least you don’t have to worry playing to loud. The best, Paul.
Thanks!
Some great music and great playing.❤️
Bro... enjoy this process -- the cat is choosing you... self reflection is important but sometimes you just have to go with your gut and heart..
Sad to say but there’s not much money no matter which avenue you choose in the music industry!! It’s the most underpaid jobs in the world!!! Period!!!
Nice chair
Nashville sucks. You can marry a 13 year old, mediocre gear salesmen guitar players, neo nazi rallies, 50 bucks for a gig, It’s over.
Kittens are like toddlers! You never turn your back ever ever ever ever.
Your he won’t let me sit on (HIS) couch video landed in my Instagram feed and now I’m here and subscribed to your channel. Amazing story and you are beyond brave for sharing it. Keep the faith! 🙏🏻❤🐈
Ah the Stormy Monday standard..
That music is your soul. I’ve seen you play so many different styles. This style is just oozing out of you. 😉
Totally agree, it is phenomenal 👏🔥👌
Hey!!! What venue? You sound great!
This guy sings good
Glad to see you got some gigs this weekend!
I’m tired.
You did the write thing Aaron. Cheers!
Jamming
How you get those gig or gig in general
That’s a good question and really depends on where you’re at and what you’re trying to do. I have lots of videos addressing that question on my channel, but let me know if there’s something specific you’re looking for. You can also tune into my weekly live chats on Sundays at 430pmEST/1:30PST and I’ll be happy to talk live with you!
Wish I had received a link for this one. This IS cooking
Thank you so much! Never played with these boys or knew what their set list was!
That’s quite an achievement especially when it’s your third gig of the day! Just realized that the stream had broken in three parts, I had caught the second and third on Saturday but missed the first. I will watch it again 🔥👌
Nobody makes money playing music. Mediocre session dudes gotta sell amps, and pedals to get by. Tory Slusher is the best guitarist in the world, and she avoids Nashville. That says something.
Respectfully, I disagree. I’ve never had more musical work before moving to Nashville. I did a complete career changeover, and started from scratch in Nashville. Literally square one. I didn’t even have instruments. I play full-time here and never sell any gear and pay my bills exclusively from playing music.
@@aaronapter anecdote. You must be on the level of Tory Slusher, the best guitarist in the world. Congratulations on your guitar virtuosity. You must get a lot of people in the industry coming up to you, and telling you that you are the greatest guitar player they have ever heard. Tory does, but she makes more money in her bedroom making magic. Why waste 2 hours at a gig to make 100 dollars? Just make money on your channel playing whatever you want.
@@aaronaptergrow your hair down to your ass. Rocknroll, man.
Great solid drumming Aaron. The best, Paul.
Thanks so much paul! You’re always watching and I appreciate it!
@@aaronapter keep up the good work, the best, Paul.
$100-$150 + tips for 3-4 hour shift? That's brutal. That's actually what low end bar band guys make per guy in small cities. Something to consider, I'm seeing a lot musicians bailing Nashville
I agree that the pay is nog worth the energy and time of a skilled musician in any city, let alone Music City, USA. Two all musicians should consider: 1) The same 12 notes you play in your town are the exact same 12 notes you play in Nashville. Nothing magically changes when you’re in Nashville 2) Ifs YOU, not your location, that is responsible for your music career. There’s always going to be low-paying gigs in every city, and most of them will be unfair. That’s an unfortunate reality. So how do you break out of those? Think of what saying no to a $50 gig does vs saying yes. When I first got to Nashville, I did a TON of gigs below my value. Was that fair? Nope! But neither is this business. I want to change that someday, but for now, I realized that I needed to network and build up my resume and exposure. Most of the gigs the first year weren’t that great. But every know and then I met someone who knew someone who knew someone. And I used all of those connects to spider web out a bigger network. It took time. And it’s like that in every city. I like Nashville because there is so much work and so many musicians here. The whole economy is built around music. But you still have to play the game no matter where you are!
@@aaronapter 100%. thanks for your insight 🙏. I’ve been in the same house band for 14 years here in Boise, so I suffer from the “grass is always greener” and wish I was out in Nashville, but I cover a mortgage and bills playing music probably should just be grateful 😆
Yup... as far as my only online posts, thy ar pertaining to upcoming tribute band regular & sub gigs, & my dog. Comments are always saying, man, you're busy with different bands & players. This keeps me out front & noticed, whether FB, IG, Threads etc. Even though I'm not endorsed or sponsored, I give a shout out the the various gear suppliers along with short video on where the venue is with the usual gear porn pic or clip. Well the Peterson Tuner guys knows where the tuners I bought from are. Same for amp head, cabs cables & basses & yes I tag these guys & they like it
HELLO From Disney World in Florida ❤ Keep the kitten ❤
I’m keeping him!
Great job, Arron.the best. Paul.
Thank you Paul! Love the support and having you always stop by!
Kara is a very good guitar player!Tanks Kara and the. guys.
She’s one of my favs to work with! Thanks for watching!
You are one of the only people truly documenting this stuff man! This is a unique perspective that more and more people are going to keep wanting to see
Wow. Thanks for that observation and comment. I’m just trying to do it, be me, and share whatever that is. I appreciate the continued support Landon!
@@aaronapter You bet! I enjoy listening to your live sets on the big screen at our place while having lunch. My wife and I will be moving to the Nashville area within the next few years so hopefully I'll get to see you live and/or play a set with you sometime when we come visit beforehand.
@@aaronapter also the ultimate Nashville playlist that you made on Spotify has been great! I'm surprised at how many of the songs I do know, but even more surprised at how many I don't know or have never even heard!
Sounds great! That singer definitely does the Stapleton thing.
Aaron, you’ve captured the heart of an older woman. I appreciate your insight and honesty and I like your drumming. You make it look easy, but it’s work for sure! When you said you are proud of yourself for hanging in there, it melted my heart. Having the loving relationship with the little terror has allowed you to realize just how loveable you are. I hope you aren’t embarrassed by what I’m saying. Just know that I’m old and would be proud to have a son like you. And, if I were a young woman, I’d look you up and give you a hug.
What a heartfelt and sweet comment. Thank you so much!
Hot
very cool ! I do the same but rock and metal mostly. did a country fill in once. was a little scary not knowing none of the songs I manages sorta lol
It’s kind of like being in a boxing match… you can spar all day long, but actually getting in the ring for a fight is another story!
@@aaronapter agree !
What gear are you using tonight?
I believe that’s a Sonor AQ1 and a Mickey D Signature snare.
@@aaronapter that’s nice house kit. Thank you for answering.
Is there a slow season playing on Broadway? Cheers
Absolutely. January, February and March are very lean months on Broadway.
Really enjoy your vids & insight, Aaron ⚡️
This means a ton hearting this from another musician about this particular. Thank you!
Amazing story 👏♥️
Thank you or watching!
Seventy five year old music lover here. I so enjoy following your journey. Your doing great!
Awesome! Thank you!
It's a hell of a way to make a living but I'll do it before I'll work ( George Jones. ) I watched you did good 👍👍
🙏
Well since I was already practicing / reviewing tunes for my upcoming gigs here, & hooked up to my audio interface & IEM's I joined in playing along. So many tunes I knew, 2-3 I never heard before. My music country musical intuition got me to the necy chord sequences in the bridge... not on the gig no problem but I could be. Greetings from Canada
That's a legit great way to do it and find holes in your game! Keep at it. There's nothing that can quite replace the experience of being on stage and managing all of the variables...but what you're doing is as close as you can get without being here! Keep shedding!!
Swingin' man! The crowd was movin'.
That was fun! And sometimes you just roll on autopilot and swim through the firehose of gigs/experiences while on these stretches! The last two hours of that gig though... I was beat! I loved playing with those dudes though, and that really kept me going.
Was in Nashville for a few hours Monday night. Searched broadway for you but didn’t see you. Would love to meet you the next time I’m in town. Thanks for the videos and thanks for sharing your journey. Appreciate your honest thoughts on the mental health struggles of a musician on Lower Broad.
Drop me a line next time you’re in town! I usually try to take Monday’s off!
Let Kitty continue to help you heal. He'll offer the unconditional love you'll need, even when relationships with humans falter. It costs money to be a Cat-Dad (I have four, I know) but he will be worth it. Don't give up the journey with him. Let Lisa help while you're on the road for as long as she's willing,. I feel like surrendering him, even to your parents, would be so hard on you. Let Him be a channel to get some of that emotional love and support for yourself. He's a kitty, he takes a lot of patience and effort, but he'll mellow and will become a constant companion... Without so many "zoomies." Best to you, and kitty... I'll keep following. 😻
Btw... Thanks for sharing your personal struggle. Showing your vulnerabilities takes courage and strength but foster growth and change...both of which are scary. Also, remember... The Cat Distribution System chose you! There's nothing better ! 💖
Just curious if it matters what instrument? Are certain instruments more in demand? I'm guessing Nashville has plenty of everything.
I think there are waves of demand for certain instruments and styles. Trying to time a trend will just leave you always chasing after something I think. There’s always demand for professional people that are good at their instruments and great at being easy to work with. That’s what I try to focus on.
Thank you for sharing your feelings ~ this was very emotional and deeply touching. The kitten is the reason I checked out your RUclips channel weeks ago so hope you know your good deed and connection with him is also doing more for you professionally. That shared, I could tell you were emotionally distant with him not naming him and lack of affection so seeing this video explains a lot. If you do find a better home for him great (and hopefully with another kitten/cat to play with ;-D), but if you truly love him and have people to help when you travel - go that route ♡ I guess it all comes down to whether you want to do the long hard work of loving the kitten or not. We'll see, but no matter what - love yourself, too, and enjoy the ride ~
Great interview. It'd be great to see you get an interview with Jered Ames another great singer on Broadway in Nashville.
Feel free to connect me with Jered!
He is a special part of your life. He needed you as much as you needed him. He will love you know matter what. Animals always love unconditional. Your story is so heart warming it brought tears to my eyes. We all go through difficult times in our life and all we can do is pick up the pieces and keep smiling. We just put one foot in front of the other and do a lot of praying to God to help us through the rough times. I hope you get things worked out. Your music is awesome. Just don't give him up. He will keep you happy and very entertained
@@sherrynorris6472 one day at a time. One minute at a time even. Thank you for watching and your kind words. I am keeping him and love him more each day. He’s taught me a lot and opened my eyes and heart to many things. This has been an unexpected chapter in life, and I’m glad he is an integral part of it. Truly am blessed to have him and a great community that supports him.
Xox❤
I have no doubt that your kitten was sent to you AND you to him. Continue the loving journey.
@@mariancerdeira1701 thank you so much!
Social media gives us a taste of accomplishment but more times than not, without any of the work. I struggle with the same thing and the problem is you’ll never create something for the version of YOU that others CAN relate to when you’re killing yourself to make THEIR version of YOU (for them). We fear we won’t be relatable or that suddenly the gig will be up and the imposter revealed - but - we are all imposters trying to find our way back to our center. Don’t let others being lost lure you away from your center - honestly if you create music that you are proud of, that’ll help others find their centers too.
@@henryholden4052 whoa. Deep and insightful. Thank you so much for these wise words.
What a beautiful slice of authenticity and honesty. Your experience and need for external validation is something tons of people will connect with including myself. Thanks again for sharing.
@@adriennemitchell5269 thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. We are all in it together!
Sweet animals like cats and dogs are a gift from God- we take care of them and then they love us unconditionally in return. You're not "using" him at all- 😆he's simply returning the love you showed for saving him. When I went through a terrible divorce in my early twenties, my animals were an absolutely invaluable source of comfort. Regardless of how long he stays with you- you BOTH are an important chapter in each other's lives.
@@LandonEaversMusic thank you for sharing that personal story. He is an absolute delight. I’ve always loved performing music for people because I understand what type of joy and acknowledgment it gives to others…. Including myself. Sharing videos of this cat seems to be being the same type of joy to others… including myself. He’s a godsend.
