  • Overlanding, i.e. the travelling on dirt roads and camp somewhere in free nature, has become quite popular. Can it be done in Switzerland?
    I will tell you my opinion. Please give a thumbs up if you find this helpful.

    Hi ! I agree with you. There's no place where you can do some proper offroad trips. In a way I'm thinking about changing my ducato van for a wrangler short wheelbase, but after thoughts there's no way I'll need a sway bar and a difflock here in Switzerland. Maybe one day I'll make it in Italy or France, just for stretching the suspensions of the ranger. Cheers!

    I widely agree with your opinion. There is just one thing I definitely disagree: Off-roading is NOT overlanding! The general understanding of overlanding is: Travelling by your own means of transport for an extended time trough multiple countries, whereas the route is the destination! While many overlander are using off-road capable vehicles, it is not really a must. We have done a fair bit of overlanding, including Switzerland, in a 4x4 camper. The advantage, as I see it, is, that a 4x4 is usually a robust and reliable vehicle with capabilities to keep you (mostly) out of trouble when roads become a bit more difficult. But of course this is my personal opinion...

      Yeah probably you are right. But title a video "overlanding" and post some shots of driving on highways and camping on urban campsites and see what comments come in......

    Love Switzerland.. been living here now for 8 years in Rheintal. However, as you said, not a lot of places to drive off road with the Patrol. Looking forward driving to the westalps with the family.

    You explained it very well! I try to overland in switzerland, and it's possible, but it's not legal... Well, driving in a road closed to the circulation will cost 100.- CHF if you get caught. That's a risk I'm ok to take to have some fun. If you drive in the forest, during a sunday, on the forestry machine tracks, then it can be very tricky, and it's not that dangerous because you don't harm the forest and you are not likely to be seen by anyone.
    Well, the illegal side of overlanding and offroading in switzerland add a little more risk to it... it's kinda fun... ^^

    Hi!! Very good video. I live in Geneva and I am trying to find good tracks to do some offroading, but I was not lucky yet…
    Could you recomend me any area close to Geneva (probably in the French side) to do some good offroad routes??
    Thank you very much in advance!

      Yeah not really, tracks are doable with normal cars, not demanding enough. But great for camping, canoeing, hiking and the list goes on. I really love sweden

      @@Becomingwildman I agree, but much better then what you can drive in the netherlands and Belgium. But there are some nice tracks in Sweden. Look on Wikiloc. Wild camping is very great in Sweden, i love Sweden. For the better overlanding you must go to east Europe, or the Pyrenees. You have a nice youtube Chanel. ATB Raymond

    Yes, Switzerland sucks 😅
    The fine is 120CHF for to ride on a forbidden road. It's not very expensive. By the way, I have never been caught (maybe I'm just lucky).

    Hi I’m relatively new to off roading and on two wheels so would appreciate some Tipps of those „still“ practicable stretches and roads thnks

    • @Dyshof
      @Dyshof  4 года назад

      I'm not aware of any map or so and I have unfortunately not the time to compile hundreds of stretches here and there most of them only 1-2 km long. My recommendation is go to the Jura as I mentioned, maybe the Doubs area...
