FISHING WITH FRENZ VOL 7: OIOHIITMAN808-DO FISHBITES WORK IN HAWAI'I?

- Howzit gang, so in this episode we come back home to the islands. I still have one more episode in the 4 part summer mainland fishing series to put out, but I wanted to put this episode out first just because a good bruddah in florida was awesome enough to send me some "fishbites"-a type of bait that he uses up there to catch all kine stuff. Also another Hammah local lawai'a who been wanting to run a holo sesh for awhile finally caught me on the right day and we grab the poles and go. Bruddah Rob aka oio_hiitman808 shares many of his techniques for catching o'io and other target species--shows his go-to rig, shows how he baits tako leg on the hook, shows how he casts his conventional set up. Much Mahalos Bruddah Rob. Then after much prepping we throw the lines in the water. I bait my hooks with the FISHBITES and wrap it with raw shrimp. An awesome underwater sequence caught on the fishcam of an O'io strike and the fight-You won't believe what happens! Then as the night falls, strange stuffs are seen in the water. Amazing to see the oio hit and run straight in toward shore. It's crazy how they instinctively know to do that. I use kinda cheap spinning reels to fish, and sometimes my reels not fast enough to take up the slack when the oio runs straight in. Really appreciate the footage. That's the first footage I've seen of an actual oio hook up and run. You're really educating Hawaii fisherman with your fishcam. Can't thank you enough!
Howzit Bruddah C --mahalos for the comment-hopefully with a few more tweaks here and there will have more O’io hookups on the fishcam 🙏🏽. Yeah unreal but a lot of the Hammah ol school Lawai’a just know these kinda things through years of experience, but for a Bruddah like me who’s just kinda getting back into fishing after many years it’s like learning how to ride a bike again. The fishcam does help me understand what goes on in the water for sure-shorten the learning curve a bit. Mahalos for a great comment as always 🫵🏾💯🤙🏽
Always heard about those O’io tactics but it’s crazy seeing it underwater in real time…appreciate the insight and knowledge shared throughout the video…keep up the good work and entertaining content 💯🎣🤙🏽

Great video as always, especially the underwater scenes. So cool to see what’s out there and what they doing and to see who’s taking my bait. Thank you and thank you oiohiitman808 for the tips. Too bad that oio came off, would have liked to see how big it was. I caught one oio at that beach but had to release it because it was too small. But as you said the oio’s swims towards shore so have to reel fast to keep tension on the fish.

Mahalos Bruddah Earl -this comment means a lot 🙏🏽-especially since sometimes I may come off as not always being positive 😡-but sometimes I overreact for comedic purposes. Yeah I was kinda bummmed about the O’io but it was a good fight for a little while and then buggah started out swimming my rig to shore. Did you notice how it tried to bump its mouth on the sand on the way in to try and shed the hook? So smart this species is-so now I gonna try keep the rod tip higher on the fight if I think it’s O’io 🤔 instead of reel down pull up kine action…much aloha for the support 💯🤙🏽

Sometimes in Florida, they adjust the rigs to the beach or the fish that you have as your target. It can be short or longer dropper length, beads or no beads floats or no floats. Try one hook with just fishbites and the other just bait. With your fish cam, you need to see both hooks that why l added the float. It looked like they lasted on the hook. Nice seeing the under water footage
@@davevalente mahalos Bruddah Dave--yeah good idea-I’ll try that next opportunity--when I fished off Hilo break wall I used your same rig -so many bites and both the bait and the fish bites was gone when I would pull up the line--Got some good fishcam footage -in the vid was just small clip with all the hagis attacking it 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
HiFishgear cool & all but they keep bringing in new stuff for the shop to a point where they are running out of room. I only want to be in there with no more than 2 customers.

@@Dahumblesavage808 howzit my Bruddah -mahalos for watching 🤙🏽--I not sure of why anybody wanna pound Bruddah Rob -he seems like a straight up good local Bruddah that just loves to fish. I grew up in Waialua and my house was right on the beach off waialua beach rd before puuiki park and cement city area-and all the time different Lawai’a would come and drop sand spikes right on the beach in front of our hale-and it was a cherreh spot to fish because was right next to a shallow reef and get one channel that cuts thru the reef where good stuffs would come in to kau--but me and my Brothers never did have pilikia with nobody except couple times when f@kas got too loud late at night kine…but most of the time we would go out and wala’au with them and was all G…..I mean…i know some Bruddahs might be territorial about they honey holes but as far as I know nobody owns da water except Ke Akua… If it’s something personal against Bruddah, I hope u guys can squash dis cuz life is too short to hold grudges over manini kine stuffs--unless when u say “spots” its code for “wifes and girlfriends” and “fish it” its code for “oofing” then 🤔 maybe I gotta keep my 👀 on Bruddah Rob too 😡😂-but yeah my Bruddah, I fish all over and some of the time I try new spots jus random kine so I hope u no get nuts if u see me in yo spot one day -maybe come and walaau and if I get one extra cold one in da cooler it’s yours 💯-might smell like kinda like ika though 😂-Much Aloha 🤙🏽🤙🏽
@@hawaiirhinofishing he’s sneaky with how he act around people and even his own club members. He think he some hot shot fisherman but he still learning the ways of a true fisherman. He gets invited to fish spots when he ask and when the braddahs not there he no let them know he going. Then he like run his mouth to people but no even show up to defend his words. Poho that guy.

@@Dahumblesavage808 howzit Bruddah - yeah I dunno, i guess this is part of why I not in any fishing clubs-I’m not about the drama-I jus like 🎣-I’m all about the ackshen where eva, when evas…..sometimes I jus like holo by myself too -jus to get sometime to think about stuffs and clear my head -and sometimes I need a solo sesh slumpbreaker 😂--that way if I get skunked nobody was there to witness it 😖. But for reals bruddah-i mean….get nuff problems worrying about guys tryna mess with yo ride when you holo, or peoples that swim thru your lines, or Karens that wanna Karen on a bruddah, etc -I hope u someday u guys can squash dis beef-bad 🎣 juju when get dis kine pilikia. --much aloha 🤙🏽
