My mom got tangled up with a semi truck in 1984 one month after I graduated HS. She was decapitated at brow, neck and her arm also. The semi ran over the driver side of the car and her. If you look at the back of all trailer and semi-trucks, you’ll see a metal bar at the bottom of the truck. It’s called a “Mansfield Bar”. It was added to trucks after her tragic accident. It helps prevent cars from going under the back of a truck as her vehicle did.

My wife was employed at Gus Stevens when JM. performed there. We attended her last performance the night before the accident. She was wearing the white dress. I remember the young kid who was the driver of the car... The next morning when driving by the club there were multiple police cars. I would disagree with the premise that it wasn't foggy that night..but..patches of fog . I remember driving that stretch a couple times the two things I remember most..1. Running into a swarm of bugs once or twice covered the windshield where visibility was very bad. 2. It would be clear visibility and all of a sudden you would run into a patch of fog...zero visibility. Note: I was in the military based on Biloxi at that time... I'm sure residents of that region would agree with my analysis.

If this Electra was really going between 60 and 80, the Mansfield bar might not have saved them, but it has, no doubt, saved many others. In some jurisdictions, tractor trailers are also required to have side barriers, but the way we configure them in this country, with the rear axles attached to the cargo boxes, makes such protection complicated. In Europe, most such vehicles consist of cab towing a flatbed (which keeps its side protection) and the container is placed on top of the flatbed.

NEVER pull in front of them at traffic signals or stop signs (unless they still have plenty of distance to stop remaining). Why? YOU cut THEIR stopping distance by at LEAST the length of your vehicle. finally... drive "ahead"... looking 70 feet in front of you at 70 mph is a very quick way to die.

I remember when this happened. I was almost 10 years old. I was playing on the front porch. The radio was on and the announcer came on with the announcement that Jayne Mansfield had died in a car accident and that she had been beheaded. This was a very awful thought to a little 9 year old girl. Jayne Mansfield was beautiful I thought as a little girl and she was of course. I remember my dad came home from work and I ran to tell
him the news. This moment in time has stuck with me my whole life. Your going through that account of what happened made it even more real. I’ve always felt so sorry for her and her children. I think they were sleeping in the back seat. I remember hearing about that fog machine and how it must have obscured the drivers view. It’s interesting to hear it was not in use. I heard years later that Jayne did not get decapitated but did hear about the top of her head being removed and about her wig being mistook for her head. Jayne Mansfield is just a memory for most but she was a big deal in those days, and her horrible death was big news, just like Marilyn Monroe. Such a tragedy. May she Rest In Peace…

There was one positive thing that came out of this accident (besides the fact that the kids all survived), and that was the important safety feature that was installed at the rear of ALL semi trailers after this horrific accident. It is called the Mansfield bar. That is the metal bar that hangs down at the very rear of a semi trailer, almost to the ground, that will prevent a car/motorcycle from driving under the rear of a semi trailer in a rear end collision, which is what happened in this particular accident, and the very reason why the top of the car looked like the roof was sheared almost completely off. The front of the car went under the trailer, but the roof of the car did not.

Yes, I used to load/unload trailers for N.E.M.F. One day, at our Springfield terminal (Massachusetts), I arrived at work with a sawz-all - including a special metal-cutting blade - and attempted to cut all those annoying bars off! I was so sick of them. I thought they were there simply for the reflective strip so I decided the trailers would be more, I don't know - aerodynamic or whatever. I started making some serious sparks, cutting into the first. A bunch of truckers had clocked in and saw what I was doing so they wrestled me to the dirt and pried the sawz-all out of my hands. Can you believe I was put in handcuffs over this?! It was an outrage! I descend from a signer of the Declaration of Independence and they fought me to the ground and confiscated my legitimately bought tool, locking it in a safe. Ungrateful S.O.B.'s, the lot of 'em.

And a simple change of plan can be the cause.here in Dublin a family I knew ,neighbours ,were setting off on a,50 mile trip to close their holiday home for the winter. Parents and two kids in the car, ready for take off, then the husband got a brainwave, he would put a few wet Glass cloths out on the clothes line He went in rinsed the cloths and put them out. The ides was that it would deter anyone from breaking in if they saw cloths on the line, They had almost completed their journey and going over a sharp angled bridge that led into the town, when they met an articulated trailer, the cabin part negotiated the bridge but the trailer part swung around flattening their car. the husband was decapitated poor man,but mercifully would not have suffered, his wife suffered s broken arm ,the two kids escaped with minor injuries but it must have been horrific for them. They never showed any mental affect or elde were very good at hiding it, If only he had not gone back to hang out those two tea towels. they wouldn't have met that truck right on the bridge,if only,I knew the people well, a lovely family, poor truck driver he wasn't speeding.

I had no idea who Jayne was before this video, but this entire incident is horrifying. It’s sobering how quickly our lives can be snuffed. I have a crazy but true story about my own car accident. This is the short(er) account, but it’s still a long read.
I was involved in a near fatal single car accident in 1993. I fell asleep at the wheel. At 55 mph, I veered off the road in between two traffic signal light poles, struck the second pole dead center on the license plate, shot upwards 13’11”, spun 180*, and dropped straight down.
To this day, I don’t remember the 3 hours of driving before the accident. I woke up just as I left the road. At 55 mph, the moment between waking up and the collision was almost instantaneous. While I can’t remember the few hours before the accident, I can recall in vivid detail everything between waking up to when I hit the pole.
Right as I opened my eyes, the car smashed a sandwich board sign for the cafe across the street. Then I saw the pole coming at me, and all I could think was, “Why is there a pole in the road?” That’s when I hit. I can still hear the sound of metal and glass being smashed and shattered all around me. And then…nothing. No bright lights, no noise, nothing but absolute silence.
Everyone who was on scene came to visit me during the three weeks I spent in two different hospitals. A nurse who was behind me on her way to work at the first hospital told me I didn’t have a pulse for five minutes. My dad, who I was following, saw everything unfold in his mirrors. The nurse told me she informed him I was dead. He jumped on the hood, ripped the windshield out, and yelled my name three times. On the third time, I snapped out of whatever I was stuck in.
From that moment, I remember everything else that happened. I told my dad I couldn’t breathe. He cut the seatbelt (1971 volvo and it only a lap belt) and I immediately began puking blood. The rest of the account become even more insane over the following three weeks, but generally when people hear everything, I’m told there’s no way it all happened. Since 04/03/93, my life has been one of the craziest roller coasters I’ve ever been on.
There’s so much that it overwhelms people and I’m told I have to be exaggerating everything. I’m in the process of writing a book, but I get overstimulated at times when I try to write everything down. I’m just thankful I’m still here.

@Meg, life isn’t fair, and as soon as people understand that, the world will make alot more sense. The youth have their heads filled with so much garbage, giving them promises concerning life that they will discover is only an illusion once they graduate from their schooling and enter the work force. This whole C0mmunist Iie of “equity”, NOT EQUALITY, meaning they want equal outcomes for all humanity, rather than EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES & EQUAL RIGHTS to succeed in life. Never mind that under C0mmunism/s0ciaIism the regular citizens all become EQUALLY POOR, while their govt leaders get filthy rich. Nothing in nature works “equitably”, and nothing ever will. Success comes through hard work and diligence, as evidenced over and over by the children who grew up impoverished and they put all their effort in their education, and they go on to become very successful, because they put in the hard work. The govt would like for everyone to see themselves as “0ppressed victims”, because people who are told they can never be successful because the cards are stacked against them, will never try to be successful, because they believe the self-fulfilling prophecy others have made against them, namely the govt and govt institutions. The ideal citizen for the govt is one who is solely dependent on the govt for their food, housing, and income, so that they are essentially govt controIIed sIaves who have no rights to choose for themselves where they live, what they consume, or what to buy with their money, because they’re relying on the govt for all their needs, and if they don’t behave like their govt tells them to, they will be shut off from access to any of the basic necessities of life. That’s why a portion of Americans are already indentured sIaves, forced to live in public housing because the govt is providing it, who hoIIer “bIack Iives matter”, but apparently not to the govt, because if so they would be aimed at reducing bIack-on-bIack crime, but they’re not. Instead, they target the guns for eradication, similar to someone blaming ice cream for their 0besity, as if the ice cream got out of the freezer and attacked their mouth all by itself. They don’t give 2 $hitz about ANY of the people, regardless of ethnicity. Humans are nothing but objects to be used, and discarded when they’re of no more use. If people look at the history of the Dem0cratic party, they would see these Ieftist poIiticians are the true r@cists, the Ieft keep the issue of r@ce aIive, to keep the citizens arguing against each other, instead of paying attention to the sIave system the govt is building for ALL PEOPLE, regardless of their ethnicity. If the govt truly had the best interest of the people in mind, it would have STOPPED the C0v l9 💉n-jekshun over a year ago, after it had kiIIed only thousands, and not MILLIONS like it has by now. Furthermore, they wouldn’t have attempted to take people’s bodily autonomy away from them and broke the lnternational Nur€mburg c0de by forcing people to take an 💉that, we know now from the records received concerning the cIinicaI triaIs that was actually never tested properly, thus lnformed c0nsent was not given because it’s impossible to know the risks of something that HAS NOT been tested on peopIe, EVER, which is the same thing that kiIIed all the animaIs rN-A 💉were tested on. Two years later, and thousands of research hours later, we know the 💉kiII people, and they knew it before they unleashed it on the public. Now they’re giving the kiII 💉to infants and young chiIdren, under EM€RGENCY U$E, at a time when the C0v restricti0ns are being removed around the world, so there is NO EM€RGENCY that exists! And people don’t even blink an eye at that contradiction, an €mergency that doesn’t exist currently, that’s being used to put the kiII sh0ts in the future of humanity, our children, for something that didn’t effect children enough to be considered a danger because they lack the Ace 2 receptors, and the human g€n0me will be changed, and all GM0 is able to be patented and owned. The intent is for them to have made human beings extinct by the end of the decade, creating bioIogicaI/A.l. h¥brids using g€ne €diting technoIogy that would have made HitIer green with envy. The radical Ieft can now target gen0mes for extinction, using Cr!spr to create ethn!c specific bioIogicaI weap0ns, thus enabling them to create what they would consider the “perfect” r@ce, because the Dem0cratic SociaIists are the ne0-NAZl’s, right in line with HitIer, also a SociaIist. The goal of sociaIism IS ALWAYS c0mmunism. There is NO HOPE for future generations if our Blessed Hope, Jesus Christ, doesn’t hasten the time to His return, because He says NO FLESH will remain alive unless He returns to deliver His eIect from the time of testing, the wr@th of the Lamb of YHVH, Jesus Christ, and the rule of the Antichrist who demands you take his m@rk, and bow to him and his image, or you will be behe@ded, which is certainly going to be a test of humanity in their last chance to come to repentance and trust on Christ as their Lord and Savior. YHVH is sending a world wide altar call, saying repent and beIieve the gospel of Christ, but few people are hearing Him. Jesus Christ is our only way out of this eviI that’s consuming mankind. I notice an increase in occuIt symbols in places that are not related to each other, and think “Is it coincidence that the same occuIt symbology is being seen everywhere?”. And the Holy Spirit reminded me that those who worship the b€ast and take his m@Rk are operating under the same spirit as Satan, the spirit of antichrist, which has always been here, like 1 John says, but now it’s manifesting itself in the physical world, on a larger scale than I’ve witnessed before, as the ungodly haters of Christ grow more eviI in their attempts to g€neticaIIy m0dify all the creation of YHVH, so they can patent and own the very things Christ spoke into existence, and the humans He created in His own image. They’re not content with 1% owning the majority of earth’s riches. They want it ALL, including their desire to m0dify and own people, because ReveIation 18 lists among the items to be bought and soId, the “souIs of men”.

That the car wreck still exists, is amazing. Dazzling Jayne, the all American girl as the ultimate Barbie doll, is not forgotten in 2022. Without and before the Internet, Jayne was all but forgotten, at last here in Germany. "Death can be a brilliant career move" (Author Eve Golden) Marilyn was resurrecting in thousands of books and TV documentaries. Sometimes I now think Jayne is remembered being the queen bee mother of the babyboomers in the summer of love. And because of her daughter Mariska.

You must know zero about her actual life. She, most certainly, was not an “All American Girl”! What a bizarre statement! She died a death, that frequently comes with that type of life.

You seem to be an educated and sophisticated person. Are quoting Billy Graham who is reported to have said that her cruel death was a direct punishment from God? Her break was in a play about someone selling his soul to the devil: WILL SUCCES SPOIL ROCK HUNTER? Her role model was Joan of Arc, Funny Hill, Blanche du Bois....I have been studying Vera Jayne Peers aka Palmers story for more than half a century, since April 1967, orvatbleast since 1986, spending a fortune to get all the information...
Her last quote was: Because everybody is playing my life like FAUST. Okay, Her life was a cautionary tale. But to whom? To us.

Again, speed & not paying attention, even possibly fatigue take their toll & lives are lost. It happens every day and all over the world to millions of people. We've all experienced that terrible combination, most of us in much smaller doses & survived that heart stopping moment. For us though it hopefully never becomes literal.
The fact that it was Jayne and her friends is truly no more heartbreaking than anyone else dying in these circumstances. The children surviving and being asleep when it happened is the truly amazing part. Not seeing the aftermath is the gift. Still having a surviving parent is the other gift. She was marvelous, beautiful, funny, talented and a good mom as well as a devoted animal lover and if it's to be believed a lovely warm person & friend. That's the gift she gave to us. Great video, thanks!👍💖🇦🇺

Thank you for bringing attention to the truth about the death of Jayne Mansfield. Such a tragedy for Jayne to lose her life at a young age and especially for her children to lose their mother. Very sad that when these sort of event occur that the sensational fabrications and untruths take presidents over the reality and the respect of the departed. I am glad that your videos contain content that is researched and that the items you have collected are shown in a manner that allow the truth to be told and for lessons to be learned. All the best.

I read up about this a few years ago, and the details are really grim. The official cause of death was a "cranial evulsion". An evulsion injury is when something literally gets torn or ripped away. So she wasn't actually decapitated. Her cranium from her eyebrows upwards was torn away from the top of her head.
Interestingly, it was that accident that resulted in a certain metal bar to be fitted on the back of all trucks to prevent vehicles going underneath the rear of a truck. All trucks have them, and they're known as Mansfield Bars.
