This is the story of how a manager and a team that everyone had labeled as a bunch of failures, losers, and hacks, became the most feared team in the Premier League. This is a story of redemption for Unai Emery and Aston Villa. Or should I say, the start of their super villain arc?

Great video.Villa have incredibly rich owners now. Emery chose Villa as they have let him run the club, hire who he wants, recruit who he wants. He has been handed a sleeping giant with no interference and full backing by billionaires. He is a savant control freak who needs that kind of role, and won’t get it at the biggest teams. He says openly that he wants to win the champions league with Villa, who would bet against him now

Also Arteta didn't match Emery's only full season at Arsenal for 3 seasons. Emery wasn't given the backing from the board to sort the egos in the dressing room out. Arteta wasn't responsible for this either, it took Edu after Emery was gone to convince the board to allow him to do that.

@@michaelboiteau9890 You're just looking for excuses as to why Arteta was woeful for the first 3 seasons. He's not all that. He dropped 15 points from the last 10 games last season. That's the worst bottlejob in the history of the premier league. Emery wasn't backed to clean that squad up, the board valued their investment in Ozil, Aubameyang etc over their investment in Emery. If you can't shut egos down, it will destroy the dressing room and that's what happened. It was Edu who convinced them to let him start to get rid of the egos. Arteta had very little to do with it except agree and if he hadn't Arteta would have suffered the same fate.
Emery didn't ruin the squad at all. He didn't even want Pepe, wasn't allowed to sell Ozill or properly discipline Aubameyang. It was a failing at board level.
Like I said highest win ratio in PSG's ENTIRE history bar none. He did win the league the next year along with 3 other trophies, literally everything they entered except UCL. It's not a given. Pochettino didn't win it in 2021.

@@ijl-cy9pp I just don't understand how you think any of the things you are thinking about emery and the arsenal team. He did ruin the squad whilst bottling everything he was competing for.
Needed 1 win in his last 5 games to secure top 4 and bottled it. him being mister europa league got arsenal to a europa league final and bottled it. When he got fired he was either 11th or 9th in the league with arsenal playing players like lucas torriera as the teams #10.
Arteta in his first 6 months won the FA cup (silver wear something emery never got arsenal) with an extremely aged squad (players like sokratis, lichenstiner, cech and David luis to name a few) and then went on a multi year squad over hall bringing the teams average age down to the lowest in the league and turning the squad into the most valuable squad on earth after a title challenge.
I don't understand what your point is as emery got fired from both psg and arsenal and both teams haven't looked back at him. Do you think his time was successful at arsenal? Like I just don't understand what your point is.
Also not winning the league in France with psg is completely shocking. What ever win % you want to show off is irrelevant as clubs at that size don't celebrate spursy 'trophies' like that.
Imagine bayern losing the league but they scored a lot of goals, manager would be gone in a heart beat.
You are under playing how bad not winning the league with psg is to prove some point that doesn't exist.
Like do you think his time as arsenal was good?
      If so why?
I'm just honestly so confused by ya point.

I was at Villa's Summer Series game against Brentford and witnessed their comeback from a 2-0 deficit at the water break to 3-2 by halftime. Say what you will about the effort that's put into preseason games, but seeing changes made that quickly and with such an effect put Villa on my radar as a team to watch out for. But them having the chance to lead the league going into Christmas break has far surpassed what I even remotely thought was possible. Full credit to them, they've been spectacular this season.

Just one thing. Aston Villa is a huge club in England with a huge fanbase that everyone knows to be that sleeping giant.
Now they have billionaire owners and the perfect fit with Emery at the helm, the giant is no longer sleeping. The biggest of teams have always feared that giant waking, which at long last has now become reality. The 'Villans' from Birmingham are back!
If you do a little more history, you will find that AVFC are the original Victorian powerhouse, one of the oldest clubs in the world (1874), and the team that formed the first ever football league through its chairman in 1888.

The reason Aston Villa and any other Emery team may have a hard time winning the league is because of burnout. Due to the intensity of playing style, the players can only endure short busts in form. That's why he dominates tournaments because they involve fewer games. In the last quarter of the league season, villa will have slowed in momentum due to player fatigue and injuries. The same thing goes for Arsenal. City can endure the magnitude of games because their playing style focuses more on ball possession as opposed to aggression. Besides they have heavily invested in squad depth, with player rotation minimizing fatigue in the areas of the field that involve a lot of running such as the wingers and attacking midfielders.

The arguably greatest ever English team 20-21 Liverpool (I think, maybe 19-20) played super high press and played every game possible. They can do it, but I don't think they have the experience , similar to how arsenal bottled it last year.

The whole of the Premier league operates on high intensity, hence its universal popularity. It's not just Villa that run that risk of burn out. Sure they're wobbling a little now but it's evident that teams around them have longer and greater injury lists due to similar pressures. No club's immune to that.

King Unai couldn't have done this anywhere else. Stating that he likes or prefers a mid team/club isn't true. Crystal Palace, West Ham and clubs like Brighton are MID. Villa are not. Sometimes things fit and sometimes they don't. The Villa Park feeling and all of the other parts of Aston Villa was the perfect fit. Picking up a sleeping giant of Europe was a big part of the reasoning for King Unai. His right handman Damian Vidagany our Director of football operations is also very important just like Ramón Rodriguez Verdejo aka Monchi. Our owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris don't get enough recognition. Private equity billionaire Wes Edens high-speed train project to connect Las Vegas to suburban Los Angeles has won a $3 billion grant from the Biden Administration. The project, called Brightline West, would be the first true high-speed rail line in the United States. Without those two very successful top tier executive business moguls in Edens and Sawaris non of this could have happened. We now also have funding giant Atairos backing us. Away from Villa Park we are spreading our wings with our superb scouting network which now has V Sports joining with Vissell Kobe in Japan and our stake holding in Vitoria SC. This means that Villa are set to become part of a multi-club project which encourages the sharing of scouting networks, coaching methodologies and youth development strategies. We can buy most top level footballers and pay their wages with no problem. This has been the case before Emery turned up. We offered Jack Grealish more money than Man City were going to pay him to stay. It's FFP that is the key to being able to purchase players. Man City actually paid just 40 million for Grealish. It was their revenue from certain streams of 60 million that only enabled the deal. Otherwise Jack wouldn't be at City now. They couldn't afford him at 100 mill. To get top players like Harry Kane, Frimpong, Rodri, Sane, Haaland etc you need regular Champions League football amongst other facets at your club. Villa's fall from grace to near administration after Martin O'Neil left was a good thing in a way because it created a huge void in our club for over a decade taking us off the radar as a club to recognise and made us one of the floating crisp packets of the top tier which needed rescuing and gave King Unai more reason to want to build us back up. Its a massive challenge that most couldn't complete. He is a man who thrives on being the best and if that hasn't happened with his players he will replace them. Some Villa players won't last. The owners are very well heeled and are among the Premier League’s wealthiest owners. Now that's why Unai Emery is with us. Villa as a club are just getting started.

Emery really is very hardworking and obsessed with football. I hope for his sake that they win Silverware this year. You can make an argument that the Aston Villa squad is in fact weaker when you consider Jack Graelish left.

As a villain born in the 80's, i can hand on heart say this is the best we have played in my lifetime. I can't describe how much joy Unai and NSWE are bringing to all villains. The value of good ownership is almost immeasurable. NSWE brought back pride to B6. They have laid the foindations of something special now, with impeccable decision making and robust investment. Great stewardship thus far. Now Unai will bring back silverware.🤞

i think unai doesn't like too big egos in the squad that's why he excels in "mid-table" clubs. no ego means no off and on pitch drama, therefore can focus more on his vision for the team.

    • @Macca-rb5ok
      @Macca-rb5ok 5 месяцев назад +8

There's nothing "midtable" about Aston Villa. They were England's most successful club for nearly 100 years and are former European Champs (without financial doping). Their recent years of mediocrity due to poor ownership cloud your judgement.
