iPhone X User Experience is a NIGHTMARE!

- It has been two weeks since the release of Apple's iPhone X. It's a good phone-nay, a great phone-but it comes with some seriously annoying UX changes that take away the polish of iOS 11. Snazzy Labs' Quinn Nelson talks about some of his gripes with iPhone X that distract from the user experience: the notch, gestures, icons, the whole shebang.
iPhone X is the best phone that Apple has ever made-full stop. It’s great; however, that doesn’t make it perfect. I talk about what I feel (my OPINION) needs improvement. This isn’t a “review,” FWIW.
no it's simply not. I simply hate it when I have to lift up my phone to get to it, as well others with their fingerprint on the back. I want my touch ID! simple efficient and in front, where I need it. Because most of the time I am sitting in an office not walking around ...
Snazzy Labs where is your video you said got 1m views on twitter?

Snazzy Labs thanks. Debating on getting the X or the 8 plus
Snazzy Labs lol, these is no phone that perfect

Good video, I couldn't agree more.
Thanks for watching, Aaron!

iPhone X developer experience is also a fucking nightmare. The screen resolution is completely ridiculous. 2436x1125 isn't just a totally unique resolution that has never been used before, but it's a combination of an even number with few useful factors, and an odd number that means the screen can't even be split evenly. Not to mention the fact that the phone still technically renders the notch, which is a pointless waste of processing power. The worst part being that you have to constantly worry about what the notch and round bezels are covering, and not accidentally have buttons or important information stuck behind it. Apple was already unbelievably obnoxious to developers, but somehow they decided to take it 10 steps further and basically tell all of us to go fuck ourselves.
TheSpoonKing Maybe you could just do the app design for the iphone 8 and just make it compatible but not care how it actually dispays. Apple customers must be used to the FU attitude from companies so if they complain about how bad the app displays on their iphone 10 just react with: "Should have bought an iphone 8 as the app is compatible but not optimised for the iphone X." I'm kidding though as this would never work unless all or nearly all app developers would do this as there is still a big market for the device.
The other big problem with your idea is that if the app isn't properly compatible with the iPhone X, it's very likely that Apple will just refuse the app during the submission process. Apple checks every app for compatibility when you submit it to the app store, they just don't like saying they look at submitted apps, because then people would realise they let all that garbage fill the app store.
TheSpoonKing That's the shell which apple said you but that's not the truth with optimization of "the notch" and whatever.
"Safe Screen" is now mandatory with Xcode 10 beta (developer btw), when you target ANY ios in your build target even say 9.0, the safe screen is there in your storyboard. There is no way around it. Even navigation controllers will have to fit inside it, even if you are specifically writing an app that doesn't target 10.0 and up, that is in addition it highly (100% probably) that apple won't accept your build submission if you somehow managed around it, say by using an older version of Swift, and if it does now, you can be sure it won't be accepted in the future.
TheSpoonKing lmfao lol that last tirade at the end had me dying haha. Apple is really going downhill.
"When was the last time you didn't have service?"
Oh you sweet, city life child.
Yeah, this comment may have been a bit narrow-minded. Haha. I certainly understand this is a problem for some-I wish they'd at least us prioritize per our preferences.
Oh I absolutely agree. I feel like the whole notch thing is handled very poorly
The underground subway has no service even in the city.
Service literally sucks in parts of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. It’s not just a City/Rural thing.
Yep some parts of S. Carolina, or Georgia, and it does not matter who your service provider is, or what their coverage maps claim you will get poor, or no service what so ever, and I'm talking areas large enough to have Walmart, and Lowe's yet again crap cell service, and if you live just a few minutes outside of town you can even be screwed on getting any kind of hard line high speed internet such as DSL, Cable, or Fiber.
It's about time someone tells the truth about the iPhone X. Every time Apple does a mistake or does something wrong everybody covers it up and acts like it's no big deal.
Kevin Novak reviewers are very diplomatic usually, this guy is bold.
When Apple does something different, everybody is complaining. When other manufacturers do the same thing, everybody is ok. This repeats with every new release, every new feature. There is no truth about iPhone X, this is only a preparation for other companies to follow the same, already talked about things.
More like every mistake Apple makes get put on the news and newspapers and gets the word “gate” attached to the end of it, iphone is the most nit picked phone on every release for the past decade.
Because most of the stuff he complained about honest to god is not a big deal. Like installing an app, it says Double Click not tap. You telling me a person is not smart enough to figure that out?? I agree with his complaint of the placement of the control center but, other then that, most of his complaints are just there for the sake of complaint.
Kevin Novak yeah ikr, all these brainwashed isheep
Great video Quinn, and I agree. Some great and some bad ideas in this UI.
Thanks for watching, Mike! It’s a great phone on the whole but I certainly have my gripes. 😊
I also feel like an idiot for not knowing you could swipe to the right edge to activate the overview more quickly.
You shouldn’t. Neither did I! If we couldn’t figure it out on our own, I think that speaks volumes to the lack of intuitiveness.
Apple comes up with some great UI ideas along with some of the oddest executions of it. It’s like someone came along the way who did not know what they were doing and decided change things up.
Very picky review. I came across the multitasking on my own by mistake like a few of my friends so has nothing to do with tech level. Agreed Apple could cover this and I bet they do in their how to videos. A company cannot hold everyone’s hand that is why it is good to have people like you point some tips and tricks out. Plus we are still in the first month I am sure they will tweak things just like they did on the watch once people had it in their hands. Mostly love all the UI setup. The home option was done perfectly and would not change that part. Notch people need to get over that a non issue again something they can easy tweak for battery info.
It's hilarious how iOS tries to cover its UI inadequacies with more bumbling inadequacies instead of just having the foresight to avoid these problems from the beginning :)
Well call me retarded what what do you mean by inadequacies
MeenMan 777 almost everything discussed in this video
They probably want to "think different", but don't know how to be useable at the same time. They used to make the most ergonomic and intuitive shit on the market. Now all they care about is to slow down their previous gen products and make them devour their battery faster with each OS update.
iforce2d you’re exactly right. Apple does that with everything. The butterfly keyboard? They’re not going to take it away, they’re going to try to fix it with something else
iforce2d it's because they're brave.
1. i disked the video
2. watched the whole video.
3. felt like i'm stupid.
4. liked the video

k brooks LOL
Still better than last years control center
k brooks it is not outdated
Lol don’t complain about customisation to apple, I bet they argued for months to even add the ability to change wallpaper.

Lol three years 🎉
I’ll be honest if I was offered an iPhone 8 or x to use I’d take the 8
Actually I’d probably take the x then sell it and buy a cheap phone because you know the stereotype about college students never having money?
It’s not a joke it’s a fact. lol
Lmao i was thinking about that too but if you actually get that phone for free you will never sell it...
@@raichu4023 naw. I won the iphone 11 pro max. At a carnival. And i sold it with in 48hrs. Cause i already have the note 10 plus.
@@raichu4023 I'll do, and buy a Samsung phone instead.
Quinn: The camera 3d touch toggle is redundant.
Apple: Sure, we’ll remove the “swipe left” for camera.
One of the few reviews on the iPhone X in which the criticism is very fair and just. Even though I've owned the phone for a couple weeks now I didn't even know about the fast app switcher technique. Thank you very much!
Apple started to forgot what a good UX is starting with iOS 7, sadly.
Joseph James disagree, removing skeumorphism is quite possibly the best UI decision they've made and the only good decisions Ives has made regarding software.
David Coleman "skeuomorphic" wasn't just a design choice they liked and decided to go with. It was part of some brilliant ass design to show and familiarize people with these new type of phones and way of input. I'm not disagreeing that eventually it was the right move to change things up.
But the execution and design slop of iOS 7 and beyond is just shit design and could easier done better. And WAS done better in terms of a UX
Speaker Sex Then it was one of the things I like best about android; the S8 is cream of the crop in terms of this design, I love the look of Yosemite and up, and Windows 8 and 10 definitely shit on Windows 7 in the UI department because they don't have this cringeworthy cartoony look about them.
Our differing opinion is no reason to call me retarded.
That’s when the lack of Steve Jobs crept in.
I never once agreed that iOS wasn't behind the curve on Android; hence is the reason why I jailbroke my iPhone. That being said, an iPhone with Root Access and App Hooking (I know Xposed does this as well, but since Android is a java based pile, Xposed has to go through 4 layers to actually do anything versus the 2 layers that Cydia Substrate has to) is better than android in my opinion and definitely looks better in my opinion.
Idk where you got the whole "feature" argument, my argument was exclusively on a aesthetic level. Hence is why I said the ONLY good software decision Ive's made was taking iOS and macOS and removing the candy pop tripe and making the OS's look professional.
Oh god, the Voice is High. funny when seeing you're newer videos keep up the good work and when will you make one about the iPad air 4?
I thought Apple Products were all about ease of use, I switched my parents from Android to Apple Phones because they are essentialy idiot proof, but the new gesture controls seem very fiddly and finiky.
Chris Logie Make sure your parents never buy a iPhone X.
When I seen the announcement of the X, my first thought was, the whole argument for ios is 'it just works, one simple button to get noobs out of trouble'. Well alot of peoples heads are gonna explode with the X.
Also many of these people, are not the people that would think to google how to. So they will just hate the x.
its actually easy and feels alot better to use than that stupid home button. i love it. your parents must be REALLY dumb if youre concerned LOL
Chris
Chris Logie Android is actually simpler than ios
Using iPhone X since 3rd November , totally agree. Some gestures are just not smart at all. Don’t know what apple is thinking. Feels like intentionally against us. Deliberately, period. I think they are laughing at us. Just don’t wanna make us life easier.
Paranoid much...
Apple is trolling their users I said it grin the beginning.
Not to mention, without the trusty Home button , how would you go Home if the app has frozen and no gestures are responding?
The home button probably would still respond. Hardware interrupts usually have a higher priority then software input like touch gestures. Unless the OS scans touch input for certain motions before input reaches the app. I know Android is irrelevant to this kind of thing, but pressing the power/lock or hardware home button will usually have an effect even if a app has completely frozen and software buttons aren't responding. I can usually press power and tap reboot even if nothing else works. It's the same general idea with pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL on a PC. But I don't think the home button needs to be on the front, they could have put it by the power button, or in a place a finger can easily reach. At least that's my design sense, rather then completely remove it, relocate it.
1:53 The time is 4:20.
Photography....i read it "Pornography"
your suggestion on how to implement the control center is probably the best solution
I'm usually the first person my friends / family call when they need tech help, and even I was baffled when I came across the "double click to install" screen on my friend's iPhone X. Him and I sat there like idiots for at least a few minutes trying almost every "double click" gesture on the screen we could think of. Would it really have been that hard for Apple to change the text to say "double click lock button to install"?
JeffIsAPrettyCoolGuy exactly... and why is it even necessary to do that to begin with. 🤦🏿♂️
Rich Abe it’s necessary in case an app requires payment. So faceid doesn’t trigger and pay without your consent just by you looking at the phone, you’re asked to double click the button to authenticate the purchase and start the faceid scan, otherwise there would be a lot of accidental purchases
It’s bizarre that Apple has so many issues with its no-home-button phone while SO MANY other Android phones without a home button have never had issues with its user inteface
+knocknockify Because they do have a home button. It’s just on-screen.
knocknockify they have virtual buttons. Not gestures.
Apple stupid ass shoulda just put a in display home button or on the screen like android, just idiots
Snazzy Labs yeah
Snazzy Labs apple should have done that
I love how real you are with your reviews 😂
Finally somebody with his own brain. Every other reviewer or a tech guy is just repeating PR slogans.
If Steve Jobs was still alive, he would've told the software designers to get their shit together.
Bibasik7 and get the fuck out you're fired!
Bibasik7 You're right. You shouldn't have to learn a whole new gesture system in order to use your overpriced new iPhone. Apple was the shit they were leading innovators in the field, now, they are just copying what others are doing. Sad really..
Facts
I own an iphone 7 and didnt upgrade for the reasons u mentioned.... it really is poorly designed.
Riccardo Ulpts looks like Apple time was running out and they delivered an unfinished phone...
Lana Karassi or it's a first gen with new tech. Nobody said it wouldn't have flaws.
Austin Gray I see... xoxo
Especially for Students on financial freedom it won't... good choice in phone though
Riccardo Ulpts I am extremely satisfied with my 7plus. It’s easy to use and it’s reasonably quick with good battery life.

You are not whining or over dramatising things, I love Apple products but there are numerous frustrations to my attraction to everything Apple. You are bang on and accurate with everything in this video, I echo it completely - great vid.
+Stephen2697 Cheers!
iPhone X is a 'Top Notch' phone😂😂😂
LOL
killafocker you obviously did get his pun moron. He was joking idiot
killafocker By "top notch" they meant the object covering the screen, not the position of the phone
Note series has “blown” my expectations lol
Light Yagami vise versa lol
Yep- tomorrow I’m going to return my X. I think it WILL be a great device with a couple of generational improvements, but its very much a “beta” experience right now. 8 it is.
On the whole, I stick to the annoying bugs here and there because the hardware is so excellent but I can definitely see the reason someone would want to hold off.
Snazzy Labs how’s Face ID been for you? I agree with everything you’ve said in the video but that’s the real reason I’m seriously thinking about switching back. I’ve scanned my face and re scanned it multiple times, tried all of the reddit advice to “train it,” and it works very accurately (only had it fail a few times) but my god is it slow at least 50% of the time. It’s bizarre too because some of the time it beats me to even swiping up and I don’t notice it at all, but other times it feels like I’m waiting for that little lock animation for an eternity. Very frustrating. I do think that a flawless and fast Face ID would be a more than worthy replacement, but it’s just not there for me right now.
+Harrison Wilson It’s great. Gets faster. Lower failure rate than TouchID too. I love it TBH.
Harrison Wilson for me Face ID works all the time only messed up once out of the entire week I had this phone
Snazzy Labs failure rate is lower for me, it’s just not too fast yet. Hmm- might have to hold onto the phone since most of the issues are software. It still makes no sense to me that iOS 11 feels so unoptimized for the X if they were working so hard on the phone for “years”
Sorry but Apple just absolutely sucks now. It's like they hired the programmers from Windows DOS for their interface. Everything Apple was known for is long gone!
FenderSchonJPX everything like what?
Frazzled Pink they use to straight up steal ideas from other phones. And now they added their own ideas like removing the aux cord and adding a notch, they should just go back to copying other phones.
Space Man um okay....kindly do well to read "Leading apple with Steve jobs" by Jay Elliot, you'll understand alot lol
Frazzled Pink Yeah they are very innovative like the dongles hahahaha
Space Man you mean when iPhone was the first production smart phone without a qwerty keyboard? All of the sudden physical keyboards weren’t cool after that.
Finally some sensible rant about the iPhoneX!
It's a great phone but I'm tired of everyone talking like there isn't anything wrong with it.
Check out Chris Pirillo's rants.
Agreed!
why is called 10 when it's clearly an X?
Jake Fuller sensible? How about petty. Oh the notch wah wah wah give me a break. If you don’t have the phone you’re looking for an excuse not to get. Have fun on the outside looking in lol
So happy I left Apple and got me the Note 8 I love this phone
JermoOnTheSticks 1 congrats ❤️
I used to use iPhones. When I switched to Android this year, best decision I have ever made
Edit- I switched back to iPhone because it was just to hard to use Android the way I wanted to.
JermoOnTheSticks 1 now you can customise everything all day long.. hahahaha
While it’s a nice phone I’d be hesitant to get the next model in a line of phones that was exploding a little over a year ago...
Ha1frican its almost been a year since its release and guess what? Not one has blown up or caught fire
Control center in multitasking makes a lot more sense. That’s how it is on iPad iOS now and it’s super handy to get both in one gesture.
I totally forgot the iPad is like that. HAHAHA. Whoops! Agree. It's much better.
I was about to say “...just like the iPads” 😂
3 years later and nothings changed
You're absolutely right, Quinn. Well said!
+yomi001 Thanks for watching.
I can’t wait for a jailbreak to fix all the stupid shit Apple doesn’t want to fix, aka known as volume hud, fixing Bluetooth/WiFi turning off instead of disconnecting, having new gestures and so much more I could go on and on
There better be a volume HUD redesign in iOS 12 because it's soooo bad. lol
Snazzy Labs knowing how easy it can be to change the volume hud leads me to believe one of a couple of things
1. They’re trolling
2. They keep it as something that was there since original iOS
3. They’re lazy to redesign it
4. They don’t know how (very unlikely)
Status vol 2 for me was my favorite but anything besides the stock one at this point I would appreciate
There is nothing to be fixed about Bluetooth/Wifi toggles, it was intented for them to work that way
Dzongi was it that big of a issue that Apple just had to do that? Now for that I’m forced to open the damn settings app every time because of some stupid thing I don’t need, if I wanted to disconnect I would go to the settings. These are “QUICK TOGGLES” and that’s not doing what it used to do. Why not give us a option to have a way to have it turn of instead of disconnecting if we don’t want it? Or further force touch those specific toggles to turn off but wait this is Apple they don’t think of the other group of people and this is why jailbreaking is amazing, fixing things Apple doesn’t want to and have new features Apple then steals... I’m sorry gets “inspired” and calls it their own. Also I’ve tried so hard not to curse out because stupid simple things getting more inconvenient annoys me
josh heredia I dont understand the Bluetooth wifi thing, in my Android phone when I click the wifi logo it turns off and Bluetooth too lol
1000$ beta device
Fucking unreal lol.
why can't anyone get this right? It's $1000 not 1000$
I'm sure the fangirls willing to pay are thrilled to be the ones to beta test it. I do understand though, as it takes years for a new version of grand theft auto to come to market you start thinking: "Wow it'd be awesome to be able to alpha or beta test it with all the latest features and graphics and you don't have to wait." But it wouldn't be that great. It's much more likely to be a major frustrating disappointment with frequent crashes, artifacting, sound bugs, badly implemented/unfinished control layouts and falling through non solid pieces of the floor. But if you don't think ahead like this you'd likely fall for the iPhone X' pretty face and clever marketing.
1300* if u want 256gb
“When was the last time you didn’t have service?” Pretty much 5 days a week, there’s this one spot in the city with absolutely no cell reception, idk how people can live there, what if you need to call 911?
The real issue (alongside the meta-real one that seemingly all the sane people left apple) is that EVERYSINGLEFUCKINGONE on youtube praises Apple for ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY anything ... if they would have a triangular screen people would still praise them ... not to mention the headphone jack ...
And btw, I've owned iPhones since the 3G, skipped very few generations ... but it's getting harder and harder to swallow every stupid decision they cook up
Every stupid decision they "Tim cook" up?
"Cook up", boy this made my day for sure
You are even dumber than those iSheeps. iSheeps don't want or can't realize that Apple is ripping them off, and selling an ok phone for a ridiculous price. You in the other hand, are full aware of Apples selfish price policy, and you still buy it? What the fuck is wrong with you?
Darieee
I agree. Tim Cookes contribution to Apple has been dongles, and of course dead employees. He was the guy in charge of the relationship with Foxcom - he just didn’t care as long as he got his million dollar bonuses.
So then don't buy another one. It was easy for me lol. I switched to Android and hopped off the sinking iShip before I drowned with it. I don't regret switching to Android one bit.
After watching this video it seems to me that you need to try the Galaxy S8. Your mind will be blown. This is coming from a long term Apple fan boy here! I switched from Apple to Samsung a few months ago when I saw what the iPhone X was all about... which wasn't much. It was dissapointing to say the least so I switched platforms. I found out about a month in that Samsung hid a button behind the screen. Similar to Apple's 3D Touch, only it's a home button at the bottom. Not to mention you get a beautiful status bar that spans across the top. Just give it a try. I know you'll miss iMessage and such, but it's a much better user experience. Jobs must be rolling in his grave. :P
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA right. sounds like you have never used a samsung phone, Mr Tech Teacher.
off color emerald network i’m an apple user but Samsung is awesome i only have problem with android os I don’t know how to use it
He's a tech reviewer, do you really think he hasn't tried Android?
Andrew Read I have they fucking suck
off color emerald network If you talk shit about something without arguments you're probably not a good teacher. Maybe if you teach religion with the purpose of converting or sending hate into the world you'd be ok at it.
You totally nailed all the human factors issues about the iPhone X, people that downvoted you just don’t understand the importance of a good user interface and experience, especially for an Apple flagship product/software. Its obvious that iOS for iPhone X seems liked a rushed disaster rather than a design which went through usability testing.
I'm sure Steve would not be happy with how the UX has devolved into this heaping pile of trash.
The double tap thing seemed pretty straight forward to me considering it’s easier to tap the button than the edge of the screen.
This is why I'm switching to android from my iphone 6. ios 11 killed any speed I had with it, I can now type a sentence, get a drink, and i will still be typing. Also, I've wanted a bezel-less screen for a while, and the stupid notch ruins it. I also like touch ID. Any smart design/innovation died with steve jobs.
EDIT: I just got the galaxy S8 and I love it
Kellen Bluestein No jailbreak either.
Android seems like the way to go
I'm getting a new phone Wednesday, probably going to be an S8.
Kellen Bluestein I replaced my iPhone 5 with an S8, I love it.
Nice!
Price tag when iPhone X: is too expense.
Price tag for Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung...: ooohhh innovation!!
Good video. Spot on comments. It’s ok to criticize poor user interface design, and still be an Apple fan...one of my biggest grips is why do I have to click the side button to install an app? This should be screen interface coupled with Face ID. Period.
Agree. I mean, I get that they're trying to make it like Apple Pay, but it's jarring and I don't like it. They could at least be more specific. Like... PRESS THE POWER BUTTON. lol
I wrote a comment about it but it must've gotten lost in the sea so here it is again:
As annoying as it is, I think the home button double click is crucial for FaceID purchases.
Because the iPhone is waterproof, it's expected to be used in areas with high risk of being splashed on. Water on a capacitive touch screen can cause the screen to go haywire. Remember this.
Say you drop your phone in the sink while the screen is on. The running water opens the App Store, an app page, and gets to the "Buy" icon. You panic and pick the phone up. It sees your face. The wet phone taps the theoretical "Install" button, and now you're out $6.99 for an app you never wanted.
If an IPhone can do that just by dropping it in a sink thats poor design. Why, well imagine your recording underwater well then would it start pushing random buttons on screen, no. So no it wont randomly install an app, and if in any super rare instance it does, doesn't ios have a return option like android?
I kinda thought of pressing the power button immediately just because of that white indicator on the side. If they wanted you to press there, why would the indicator thats the same length of the button be on the side bouncing right and left?
Any touch screen will do this in water. It doesn't matter who makes it lol. Go ahead, try splashing a little bit of water on the screen and try to use it. I'll wait.
I don’t understand the confusion in landscape. You can see where the bar is so swiping where it is makes sense and not where it isn’t
6:16 "Next year when it's a lower price with fewer compromises"
lol.
Fair assessments. I’ve felt that Apple has slipped in UX design. I don’t have much faith in gesture based UI. They aren’t universal enough.
Why. Why do all the videos main pics have to be a guy baffled looking at a phone like it’s a mysterious banana
+joao matias You clicked on it so it worked.
Yeah I know. But honestly, it was out of genuine curiosity for the content and I appreciated your video. Doesn´t mean I like the thumbnail though :)
5:32 i agree with you except for this one. It is clearly where the home button is. it isn't even shaped like a button. It should be easy to figure out.
who is responsible for these design ? he / she needs a wide shake
My 30 year old gameboy has a headphone jack case closed
So Samsung has better water resistance and it keeps a jack, but apple is innovative for removing it. It's not outdated by any means, not everyone wants to buy 150 dollar headphones/earbuds
I love how people claim that it's "outdated". No, it's not. Just some simple stupid thing that iSheep say because they don't have any other argument.
You bought it.
If Apple doesn’t bring back headphone jack, I will be going to android
Go to Android.
*apple brings headphone jack back in the new ipod*😭😂
Guess you'll be going to android in 3 months then.
Not to mention better camera better screen actually creating the ideas first and not stealing them and not overpriced
Just switch to android already
I figured out the "swipe up and to the left" on my own, realized you could swipe at the bottom of the screen to interchange apps without bringing up multitasking while also swiping up.
Way too many compromises, Jobs would've never allowed such an atrocious design to come out.
*looks at previous iphones and macbooks*
Yes he would.
@@bryanalps except phones without bezels already existed but sure. whatever fits your narrative
Anyone notice there was a red dot flashing on his front facing camera?
+Bankai3474 That’s the True Depth camera system for Face ID and Attention Assist.
Its not visible to the human eye, however some cameras pick up the wavelength coming from the sensor and change it to something we can see
Very good review and recommendations on the new gestures on iPhone X. I hope Apple listens.
thanks a lot now I can’t stop noticing the bar on the lock screen
Here's the thing, I got an iPhone 6, I didn't update to iPhone 6s because it was too early, and I waited out the iPhone 7 because the next phone would finally be with a new design. But surprise, surprise the iPhone X has an inflated price, and UI optimization issues, and tech reviewers, wholeheartedly recommend to wait another year!
I'm sick of waiting actually!
*cough* S9 *cough* in March *cough*
Ivo Sotirov time for us to get a Samsung Galaxy s8!
GeorgeR-S9 with the SD845, already slower than the A11. Cough, cough indeed.
Fala Ai sd835 on op5t opens every daily usage apps faster than iPhone X and iPhone X opens game faster so basically if u r a kid then buy beta phase icrap and if u r adult make a smart move
habrudabru-I am doing the adult thing, iPhone X for me. You see the processor is for the life of the phone. The software will be optimized. Most people from Android land aren't aware that Apple totally changed the file system in iOS11. It will take time to optimize. The SD845 is supposedly the chip for next year, it will be slower for a long time and the A11 already beats it and A12 will blow it away.
If you didn’t realize you had to double click the power button to install then you are a bit dim I’m sorry to say
If you're so stuck in the apple swamp that the only device you would even consider to buy is the latest apple product despite the fact that you don't like it that much, then that seriously is your own fault.
I don't know, I've had the X for 6 months now... somehow I've liked it the entire time. Easily learned to swipe up and right to multitask faster, it's literally the way your thumb moves.
Hmmm, maybe physical buttons are good. Drops the mic.
Good is a bit much, but it is a nice haptic experience if done right.
Damn right they are. Only a moron would want something else. Gotta love when ur screen freezes n u got no button to return home.
I think Android is way better suited for these bezel-less phones because of the simple, intuitive navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen. Apple really needs to give the UI/UX a second thought because tying integral components of the UI (Control Center, Notifications and Multitasking menu) to awkward gestures is bad design IMO.
Rohit Awate I enjoy not having virtual buttons. I did like them on my galaxy nexus in 2011.
Rohit Awate-It is very simple to add a software button to any iPhone. This has been around for years. The user can choose which 7 functions can be triggered from this button. Also, how do you know the gestures are awkward? Do you have an iPhone?
Rohit Awate I used one for 2 weeks the gestures on the s8 and note 8 are way better
Fala Ai Are you talking about the Quick Actions thing on iOS? I'm talking about the back, home and multitasking menu buttons on Android. And no, I don't own an iPhone but just look at that gesture for the multitasking menu. Swipe up and then swipe right? That's awkward. IMO, gestures that require you to change the direction of movement of your finger mid-way are really awkward.
RohitAwate-The thing I was referring to is called Assistive Touch. It has been on iPhones for many years but there were big improvements on it in iOS 11.1 . Even most iPhone users are unaware of Assistive Touch, but those I've pointed it out to have found it to be useful. You can program to do one thing or up to 7.
>says "I'm a tech guy"
>uses apple products
choose one
Oof
control center at the bottom was so nice and they need to find a way to bring it back.
Meanwhile enjoying my S7 Edge 😁 This year it isnt worth upgrading since s7 performance is almost the same as s8
Boom DeKaasMan Note 8 is there most amazing phone.
My s7 edge gives me good internet a pretty ok screen ...good photos and video....and it amazes me....i even can call my friends.. i think im gonna stop with this insane ratrace of phones..and gonna spend the extra thousand for a dslr lens...or laptop....or holliday ...or a new bicycle....or an action cam.....jesus....come to think of it....all the things i can have instead...
Gestures over a simple button is dumb. Don't care how the sheep justify it.
Henry B i would rather just click one botton
JR the Henny god so much of Android is already gestures from scrolling to pinch and zoom or grabbing the control center, it makes sense to continue that
Me too. I have and Android and I'd pay good money to have some damn clickable button... fuck the touchscreen
On screen buttons are way better than a fucking SWIPE
"Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause" They could've just make it 2 fingers swipe up instead! Why Apple?
I have the iPhone X and absolutely love it, however I do agree that some of Apple's software decisions were half assed.
Tyler Hamlin at least they can be fixed. Hardware can’t be fixed.
Marc Possoff yup top notch can’t be fixed! Problem got worse lol
Tyler Hamlin iOS 11 is also half assed. Lol!
I asked my friend with an iPhone X if I could take a picture with their phone. I had no idea how to open the camera from the lock screen. Tapping it wasn't working, sliding it wasn't working, eventually I accidentally swiped right. I had no idea you have to press the camera button with an obscene amount of force to open the damn camera. There's many other things in this phone which are not obvious on how to use.
“Lower price”
Apple: HA
The iPhone X reminds me of the Tesla Model 3.. It's slick and sexy, but it sacrifices usability for the G whiz factor... With it's two step door handles and it's sleek touchscreen only interior which requires you to go into menus and sub menus in order to do simple things like adjust a damn air vent...
But in all honesty, tesla is a great car company.
NASDAQ: TSLA --> Down 13% in the last month. Holy sweet lord of Jesus how will we cope.
The Galaxy s7 is way way better.
I can’t believe putting the Control Center in the app switcher never occurred to me! It makes perfect sense. Mac OS even does this with the Dashboard when you’re in Mission Control.
What about a 3D touch home button?
Vanadime its on the Note 8 and to be honest I barely use it.
Panache Automotive but on the iphone it will be good because it has no navigation bar. (I have galaxy s8)
The Royal Memes I've found my using or a lot more
The Royal Memes that doesn't even make sense
RagingTiger yes it does yiu indian
Phone says "Double CLICK to install" hence he is TAPPING on the screen.
I bought a FLIP phone instead...
The Master-Good choice. Might I suggest you publish a video about your FLIP phone so that the 2 dozen people in the world that care can bask in your brilliance?
The funny thing is - Apple DID put control center in the multitasking menu... on iPad.
Just buy a note 8. No more problems plus true multitasking, a headphone jack and fast charging out of the box.
Bruce Hodby-Well said. That headphone jack was super high tech about 30 years ago. I bet you still miss the serial port on your desktop, am I right?
Fala Ai - Even with Bluetooth headphones being the go to choice of consumers, headphone jacks are still necessary when batteries run flat. Presumably that's why a great many Apple users comment about losing something they need. As for a serial port, I don't know what that is.
Bruce-We have a lightning port both for wired headphones as well as charging. You're probably too young to remember the serial port, it was a late 90s thing that computer users were much put-out about when Apple built the first computer with only USB ports.
what happens when you forget your lighting to headphone jack adapter at home? what happens when your bluetooth headphones die and you don't have ur DONGLE??? what happens when you buy a "high tech" iPhone and it has no headphone jack? you brainwashed idiots are going to throw another $160 at apple for their REVOLUTIONARY AirPods LOL, yeah man, super high tech
Haseesh TV-You've concocted some very unlikely scenarios. I sense you have great difficulty dealing with the future. You might want to work on that, no one has figured out how to go back to the past. On the other hand I own AirPods. It's a spectacular product. When the battery in the AirPod runs low, I pop them into the carrying case and a few minutes later the battery is up to 100%. I can easily use them with all my Apple devices. Being an early adopter makes life so much easier.
Hey Snazzy! Listening to your beautiful voice on my Focal Utopias!
Shahzad Khan Nice choice!
Just buy an android and live a happy life and save money
Ring & tunes lol its funny cause LG stands for Life is Good and that is an Android
"save money"???? Yo, flagship Android phones are also expensive AF!
AL but would u sell. A kidney for a 1000$ beta iPhone hell no
AL but cheaper. which mean, wait for it. YOU SAVE MONEY
Same thing. Would you sell your kidney for a $1000 Samsung phone? Hell no.
I’m still using an iPhone 7 Plus. But every friend with an android device has had to buy a new one because either they break or the device can’t keep up with the updates, they become slow and buggy.
2k people bought the phone and are butthurt by the truth
4 years later… this did not age well
Where’d you get the leopard wallpaper?
The double tap to pay is very intentional. It’s meant to subtly train you to know that a double tap on the sleep/wake button is directly related to payments, either authorization or Apple Pay.
" save it for next year when it comes with a lower price" hehehehehehehehhehehehehhehehhehehe
This video didn’t age well lol
lol true, but if you had an iphone x in 2017 you’d remember that the gestures legitimately sucked compared to even a year later. they fixed it a ton, it felt lethargic in iOS 11 or whatever version that was
A lower PRICE LOL... THAT prediction didn’t age well
4 years later and we still have the exact same problems
The notch is a deal breaker. Sticking with 7 Plus.
The mostly overrated Phone in History 😂 Btw the parts of the Phone are from other manufacturers. As example Samsung for the display. But Apple has 0 experience with amoled. So both s8 models have so much better calibration. This phone isn't more worth than 300 euro in my opinion
Rick Forward you think that Apple just went to Samsung and ordered “ hey I want millions of displays for my phone ? “ no it’s not like that. The display that Apple has is been calibrated fully by Apple. In Lay man words, Apple said Samsung I want display with this calibration. Apple Watch has Amoled displays. You honestly talk like a ten year old.
ashwin nair You read what you write? Moron
Did I hurt you, Apple fanboy? I Used both phones, the display of the x isn't calibrated right, btw not only the display is from other company
I write facts, why does it make me a kid? Stupid fanboy
Do you even knowthe meaning of calibration?? Have you ever seen the displays iMac has ? The Apple Watch display ? If they can make displays brilliantly over there, you think it would be very difficult to work with Amoled?!?! You IDIOT. Also, you are the first one to say the display of iPhone X is bad 😂. I stand corrected, you are an immature Moron.
I am so happy I finally left Apple, Samsung Galaxy 9s is amazing!
Mike Nguyen wut
The problem with any smartphone OS (Android IOS) is that the hardware changed a lot sense 2007 while the software is pretty much the same, because you can't change operating systems every few years.
Who else is still stuck with the iPhone 💶💵💷💶💵
Mani Mostafa I
dont!
What a disaster.
Who's in charge of UX/UI? This is a disgrace!
+txmoney I believe it’s the Ive team.
OnePlus 5T is half the price and does everything the X does. Same with the LG G6. Just sayin
Ikr that phone is lit
I'll agree, but I personally find the Moto G series to be the best balance of price, and performance of any phone I've ever used. my Moto G4 does everything I need a daily phone to do, and it even got a timely update to Android 7.0
Meh. Doesn't have a great ecosystem for continuity.
