I have not done housesitting in Mexico but have done it in the US, in Colorado and Michigan. I too do it where they have pets that they like to have stay at home, both dogs and cats. I love training dogs, so I always teach their dog something new, or better behavior. That doesn't always mean that the dog will do it for their owners though! Especially if they are not consistent with them or have bad handler habits. I'm 78 and at the age of 69 I felt like my brain wasn't active enough so went back to the University to learn Spanish. It would be a delight to go house sit in Mexico or Latin or South America and try to improve my Spanish while there! This was a delightful interview:)

My partner and I also house sit in Mexico, preferring longer sits. He is a retired engineer and I once was a veterinary technician. It's a great fit. We've made many friends and are able to consider locations for us to retire in by actually living there for a bit.

I have actually done my share of house-sitting with pets. It just came easy for me when I was living in a rural area outside of Portland where I had a lot of family and friends. since I was raised around farms and everyone, I knew pretty much had cats and dogs or horses those were the animals I took care of. I think grooming horses for example is so soothing. Feeding flocks of free-range chickens also fun, because they actually talk to each other and "pecking order" is REAL! For some reason dogs and cats just like me. Maybe someday I will do it for the location like Lisa... She is a cool lady I can tell. Thanks for highlighting this story. Great interview!
