"Why did she turn it on herself" Because the perfect assassins kills themselves after fulfilling their mission. No loose ends. It's part of the hypnotic programming.
Fun fact: this movie began as a TV series (Police Squad!) featuring the same character. It was extremely short lived, however. According to an interview by Nielsen, the network canned the show due to requiring the viewer to pay too much attention from the rapid pace of the sight gags, word plays, and other jokes. TV Guide declared this to be the "most stupid reason a network ever gave for ending a series."
Leslie Neilsen's greatest talent was his ability to deliver the most utterly ridiculous, absurd dialogue with the drama, and, gravitas of the romantic lead he used to be.
The Naked Gun is such a funny film, the writing is so good. The comedic timing of Leslie Nielsen and his ability to say a thousand words through his facial expressions, is second to none. I can see that its already been mentioned in the comments but you really need to watch Airplane! It was a ground breaking film, at least for comedy and even gave Leslie Nielsen his break as a comedy actor. Thank you as ever for your reaction, I appreciate it and I enjoyed it. I'm glad that you liked the film as well!
One thing that sticks out to me about this movie is that my friend's dad was Leslie Nielsen's stunt double and did the table slide. The woman who played Queen Elizabeth has played her in other projects as well.
Leslie Nielsen was a dramatic leading actor in his younger days. One of the films I remember watching was "Forbidden Planet." When "Airplane" came along; the guys behind the film wanted serious actors to play these over the top characters in a serious tone. Nielsen came out for his standout performance. So "The Police Squad" TV series was created. However; the comedy was too much of a thinking man's comedy, and TV audiences wanted things like 3 Company. The show only lasted 6 episodes. The creators then decided to make it into a movie. That is why the title includes "From the files of The Police Squad." The Zucker Brothers would make many parodies. Between them and Mel Brooks; others would follow in their footsteps.
Weird Al appears in all 3 Naked Guns, and even sings the theme song for Spy Hard, also with Leslie Nielsen (it's kind of a mash-up of 90's references in in the vein of the 'movie Movies')
I saw some rough characters wearing those while they were shaking down local store owners. It was obvious that they were running a protection racket. The cops tried to get an undercover man on the inside, in order to bust them, but the organization seemed to be impregnable.
The problem with the ZAZ spoofs is that we've reached the point where even the references that weren't obscure have faded into history. Things that appeared to be missed include OJ Simpson, Priscilla Presley, Gorbachev's Birthmark, Ricardo Montalbán, Reggie Jackson, the list goes on and on... I personally really enjoy all the abuse that Nordberg takes in this movie.
I love how every single reaction video for this movie skips to the shoe knife scene and completely ignores the hilarious part where he just walks around the wall of the set while the other people go through the door.
Hey omn1media The actor that played Vincent Ludwig in this movie he is played by Ricardo montalban, also known grandfather from spykids, the cow from family guy one episode, general juantio pequeno from American dad episode, senor senior sr from Kim possible series, fantasy island, and khan from star trek 2 the wrath of khan movie
My mom said Leslie Nielsen only played hard boiled, ultra dramatic villainous roles before Airplane and this movie and he wanted to pivot to comedy. Rip to a legend Kids these days don't recognize Gorbachev, Khomeini, Ghaddafi and Yasser Arafat in the opening sequence, a who's who of American geopolitical nemeses from the 80's
I’ve seen this movie I do t even know how many times, but your laugh was so contagious, I don’t remember laughing that hard with someone watching the movie
This was a big movie in my household growing up, but it’s been so long since I’ve last seen it I’ve forgotten most of it. Except for the beaver bit, that lives in my brain rent free 😅 so much fun revisiting this with you
Absolutely one of my favorite comedies of all time, and some of the jokes have only gotten better with time lol. Definitely put Airplane on your list if you want more of this kind of humor and more of Nielsen, and the sequels to this are pretty funny too
The series that spawned this, Police Squad was so piled up with sight gags and quick jokes that you would be processing it for days. It then spawned the Airplane movies, Top Secret, and Hot Shots.
15:22 That one with the holster is referencing early Bonds, Connery ones, where he arrives into a hotel and does things like that. Especially Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger.. They take a thing and make it sillier.
If you like Leslie Nielson's movies and this type of humor, I would suggest eventually taking a peek at Wrongfully accused. That movie is a gold mine of comedy just like this one (My favorite line is : ''Look out, he's got a leg!'' xD) The naked gun movies are so good, it's a shame the TV serie never really took off. Frank Debrin is a legendary character from an even more legendary actor :D My favourite part about this movie has to be Stephanie doing her driver's course. That was so ridiculous xD Happy to see you seemed to have had a lot of fun with this one (and a ton of burst of laughter)
It's so weird seeing OJ Simpson in this since, you know, the double murder. On a lighter note, I highly recommend 1984's Top Secret starring Val Kilmer pre-Top Gun.
If you haven't seen _Police Squad,_ the TV series, you're missing out. It's still one of the funniest shows I've ever seen in my 40 years on this Earth. It was canceled because it was too smart for the audience. I'm not kidding.
Leslie Nielsen Is in Forbidden Planet (1956) and if you haven't seen that then you really need to. Easily the best sci-fi film until Kubrick's 2001 and stands up still. It also had the first ever totally electronic score.
Glad you enjoyed not seen Naked gun in a very long time. Basically Johnny English but slightly more classy. Weird to see the grandfather form spy kids 2 as a villain. Highly recommend Dracula dead and loving it; another Leslie Neilsen film (:
First time watching your channel. Good stuff. But i noticed that at 25:54, a certain image popped up at your "watch next" recommendation. If i know my youtube algorythms...which I don't but wish I did, can i assume you are a kamen rider fan? That kind of thing gets a sub from me
You should do Wrongfully Accused. It's another Leslie Nielsen comedy like this one that's a parody of Harrison Ford's "The Fugitive". Same With Spy Hard, another Leslie Nielsen comedy
you've never seen this film before? :O And yeah apart from the awkwardness of OJ (though it's kinda okayish seeing as he gets beat up a lot) it's a classic. :)
Love the Naked Gun films. So stupid and funny. By the way, the tea lady at 10:00 turned the gun on herself as a way to tie up any loose ends. She can’t give evidence/testimony etc if she’s dead
LOVE THIS MOVIE. My Dad died 6 months ago and this was the first movie i remember going to see with him after the Mum and Dad split, Before seeing Sleepless in Seattle with his new Girlfriend at the time to Wife at the end. You All better let him know about O.J.Simpson or atleast Google him mate. Only 3 comments mentioned O.J. which i LIKED. REF: WHITE BRONCO.
Is this your first spoof/parody movie? You're in for a treat. There are only so many of them. They don't make movies like these anymore. Not in this age of culture XD
Weird Al used to take dates to see Naked Gun wearing the same outfit he wore in the movie to see the looks on their faces when he appears on screen.
How can you not love him?
@@Wellnseddich You have to love him. Its the law.
It is. I'd marry him any day of the week. He's my parents age, but I don't care.@@jthomann71
A fav for yrs
Does that mean you haven’t seen Airplarne? Shirley you can’t be serious.
Don’t call him Shirley
He is serious..and don't call him Shirley
It's an entirely different kind of movie, altogether.
I understand this reference
true but its a comedy @@oscardiggs246

The Ludovico says to.

I've watched this movie so many times...Mr Leslie Nielsen was a comedic legend.
Leslie Neilsen's greatest talent was his ability to deliver the most utterly ridiculous, absurd dialogue with the drama, and, gravitas of the romantic lead he used to be.
Straight faced dialogs

One thing that sticks out to me about this movie is that my friend's dad was Leslie Nielsen's stunt double and did the table slide. The woman who played Queen Elizabeth has played her in other projects as well.
That is so cool!!
Wait, you haven’t seen Leslie Nielsen’s first and best comedy, “Airplane!”?
My favorite was Stephanie, the Student Driver, rolling up the window as he's firing beside her ear, and when she flipped off the truck driver.
Leslie Nielsen was a dramatic leading actor in his younger days. One of the films I remember watching was "Forbidden Planet." It's always so funny to me that someone had to manufacture all those ridiculous props like the massive condoms.
I saw some rough characters wearing those while they were shaking down local store owners. It was obvious that they were running a protection racket. The cops tried to get an undercover man on the inside, in order to bust them, but the organization seemed to be impregnable.

DEFINITELY do the sequels to this- they're all hilarious and perfect for when you just want to sit back and have a fun time.

I love how every single reaction video for this movie skips to the shoe knife scene and completely ignores the hilarious part where he just walks around the wall of the set while the other people go through the door.
This film is so great. There are so many great gags that fly by so quickly in this. I could do a whole shout-out to the baseball game alone. Lol
He did a short lived tv series of the same character called Police Squad which I think the movie is based on.
16:16 Most people miss that sign: "Attention - Employees must wash hands _before_ using restroom."
When Leslie Nielsen died, ESPN published an article honoring the great Enrico Polazzo and the impact he left when he saved the Queen’s life.
25:04 Thank you! You're the first reactor I've seen who laughed at "stop lights."
@bobb
But missed the PLATOON reference.

One of the best parts is seeing OJ git the crap beat out of him!
If you haven't already, you might want to check out the end credits; even those contain jokes! (This same tip goes for the other ZAZ movies too...)
You'll love the Naken Gun trilogy movies. Best comedy movies EVER. If you haven't seen Airplarne, watch it
Leslie Nielsen is a career drama style actor in movies, but when he was cast for the movie Airplane, he switched to comedy style movies.
Well now you need to watch Airplane! Same directors, classic ridiculous comedy and Leslie Nielsen is in it.
Man I love this movie seen it so many times with my mom
I loved OJ in these movies.
First reaction to notice that the Dr steals a car and it randomly has tire-shredders installed. 😄

Instead of a reboot, why not simply a legacy continuation. Have Neeson play Frank's son.
