An upgrade of a 930 turbo engine to 3.4 litre.
Tons of upgrades such as pistons & cylinders from MAHLE, TURBOKRAFT long neck intercooler, FABSPEED complete exhaust system, K27-7200 turbo charger, TIAL wastegate (0.8), Super SC cams from ELGIN, ARP con-rod bolt set, SUPERTEC head studs, MAHLE CLEVITE bearings, JWE valve springs (ultra light retainer), VITON gasket set, WEVO short shifter, remanufactured rocker arms, and much more was used for this build. The build was done by German Tech Motorworks Sdn. Bhd. in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Hi -- great video, thank you for the mention! The owner is a fun guy, very enthusiastic, and he sounds delighted with the work you did! :-)
Oh yes he is. And you guys are amazing too, I have never received quality parts from the States as fast as from you. Thanks a lot :-)
You share so many details of the build. Top video! Thank you
I enjoy the knowledge you give!! Leaning all the time!!
Thanks Eddie, love to share it :-)
To get more subscribers I think you must show the test drive. I appreciate your craftsmanship.
Agreed, really planned to record it, but the shop was flooded with work. But we have posted drive vids of the same car before ;-)
Best Porsche guy in Malaysia. Barr none!!
thanks for your trust :-)
Best videos on the googles
Really informative video! The level of detail was perfect and well edited save for time and main bullet points. Would love to see further videos where you add resolution to each of the bullet points for components on the engine.
I have an 86, 3.3 w 3.4 barrels bored to 3.5. How was this obtained? ie how were pistons and rings sourced? Are other models of 911 parts interchangeable?
Are older turbo (3.0l) CIS fuel dist etc and SC WURs interchangeable w late model turbo engines? I have a running setup but am trying to figure out what sacrifices are being made.
Thank you. We have been working with Turbokraft (commented below) on this build. If someone would be able to source for the rings, it would be them.
They will be happy to provide you with a suitable CIS for your application as well.
Never disappoint us on your video. Great job leo and the team in germantech motorworks
Thank you Nana
Great video, many thanks.
Excellent content. But that music is extremely disturbing. Thank God for the sub-titles.
I've been a Porsche fanatic since I was a kid 447 years now my brother has a 993 turbo so I'm always excited to find a channel where somebody is tuning these cars I can't wait to see a video of you guys road-testing it it would be great if you could actually go over exactly you know what was done to the car Chris built the motor so you know it's going to be Stout but it's really awesome car I subscribed and looking forward to your future content
Thanks for your encouraging comments Gregory. I've been getting quite a bit of complains about the missing road test, but we've been real tight on time on this build. I've been thinking, provided the owner agrees, to do a road test after the lock-down and list the items replaced.
@@GermanTech-Motorworks I'm terribly sorry I hope you didn't miss take my comment for complaining I would much rather you build Wicked Porsches than make videos. when you get the time I'm sure you will post it . cheers can't wait to see some more content🤙
@@gregoryfranks7347 no offense taken. All comments serve to improve the channel. And yes, you are totally right. We do plan a driving clip after the lock-down.

Please don't take this as putting your work down as its almost impossible to make 500 Hp with the currrnt setup you have. The limiting factor being fuel even if you had the iron fuel distributor wich give more flow than the aluminum but not nearly enough. It might feel like 500 with 3.4,Sc,cams,K27-7200,FabSpeed Intercooler,Excaust,Twin Plugged and Ignition the most i got out of mine with this setup was 400 being safe..Great job and subscribed.Kevin
Thanks for subscribing, Kevin. The car developed 438 hp on wheel during the dyno test.
@@GermanTech-Motorworks Really great job..
@@kevinbodman1011 thanks a lot :-)
I really envy whoever owns this 930
Honestly? Me too :-)
Excellent video! What were the performance improvements?
I knew upgrading Porsche 911 turbo (930) is okay but when driving must be careful because the 930 is for racing.
Great work, I really like the OEM look of the Turbokraft compared to the Fabspeed Intercooler. Did you have to make any changes to the Bosch CIS fuel injection (adjustable warm up regulator, injectors?) to avoid a lean mixture at high rpm?
Hi Manuel, thanks. Yes, works were done on the CIS but not inhouse.
Great video guys!, whats the recommended break-in procedure for the Mahle pistons and cylinders? .. I heard that you need to be very careful breaking a nikasil cylinders, but not sure how far that is correct.
We consider the first 1000km's as a reasonable and sufficient break-in period. The reasoning behind this practice is that keeping revs relatively low (4,500 RPM) helps the piston rings seal against the cylinder bores properly.
Awesome video 📹 👏 👌 👍 😎Air cool life 😎
Great information as usual! Top notch workmanship. Wondering if you have ever tried doing tiptronic to manual conversion on a 964 or 993? It is practically impossible to find a manual 964 or 993 in Malaysia.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Elias Flynn instablaster :)
@Franklin Kyle Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
What would be the cost of such a project?
Should upgraded from CSI to EFI for better fuel efficiency
@ 7:04 what generalizations can be had about how tight one can go above the target of .072 if thats the top of the range? (haven’t used Plastigauge before) if the measurement of < .076 is the top end of the clearance how does one verify the .003 diff is ok? How far above the spec can you go safely? Doesn’t the 3 thou diff mean the main journal will be on the tight side or is this diff negligible? How many thous is too much above spec? How hard is it to fix the clearance?
We work according to spec booklet of porsche (don't have it handy right now). The booklet provides you with wear limits and specifications. We worked within those specs.
beautiful engine one question, the intermediat shaft rear bearing do you have issues with that failing and if so what is best way to fix this
This is an air cooled engine where the intermediate shaft drives merely the oil pump. Other than normal wear and tear no issues. Here we use bearing shell's, no ball bearings...
You might be referring to early water cooled models.
Yes your right it was a watercooled engine. Thanks
So what do you do if the clearances are off on the crankshaft & rod bearings? How do you fix that?
If you don’t have sufficient clearance you’ll have to machine polish the pins to spec. In the event that you have eccentric shape development, or wear above limits (where oversized bearing options would be exceeded), you have to replace the components.
Beautiful work. I've recently purchased a 1986 930 carrera 3.2, what options do I have as far wanting to achieve that kind of improvement? Aiming between 480-500 hp
If it's not a 930 turbo, sell it and buy a 930 turbo
@@trefoil3000 i would if it wasn't for the crazy market right now.
You have a very reliable engine, keep it in high rpm, unless you’re bored of it. Do some internals and slap on an aftermarket turbo.
How much does a 930 engine rebuild cost in Malaysia?
You don't want to know
Hi AL, really depends what you find once you open it up. Spare parts are subjected to crazy import taxes too.
what is this cost of this build please?
